TRANSITING JUPITER CONJUNCT NATAL MERCURY

 Mercury is the planet of the mind.  It speaks of our communication techniques which are defined by the astrological sign Mercury is in within our birth chart.  The house location also provides further information.  The angles or aspects to Mercury will define how challenging or how proficient the mind operates. 

 

The Square aspect may suggest challenging conditions, but these natal aspects can be used to intensify the mind’s focus especially if Saturn or Pluto is part of the process.  If Uranus is part of the equation its energies can add a flair of uniqueness.  The squares, although often indicating lessons, can always be confronted, and dealt with accordingly over time.  Mental illness and concentration issues can also be defined by Mercury’s condition.  Much depends on the overall condition of Mercury as well as the rest of the chart’s energies.  At times Neptune can indicate challenging conditions and at other times it speaks of insight and intuitive perceptions.

 

When Mercury is conjuncted by transiting Jupiter there is an emphasis on the mental processing and often the ability to expand on certain teachings.  Much will depend on the sign Mercury is in as well as the house of the conjunction.  In general, however, subjects such as religion, spirituality and philosophy can become activating forces of this individual’s focus during this transiting aspect.  Jupiter has a tendency to expand on things and pushes for higher learning often through life’s experience, and Mercury will take on these energies and use them to propel its energies. 

 

Mercury is a neutral planet and actually needs something to stimulate it into action.  It comes to life when it is activated by transit or progression.

 

The attitude can be changed significantly as Mercury is touched by Jupiter, and Jupiter’s involvement will help to foster a positive attitude and a general feeling of good fortune into everyday life.  The mind is ready to learn and grow through these energies.  Anyone with these energies may also be quite willing to share this information with others, especially if Mercury is in the sign of Gemini, Sagittarius, or Leo.  The thinking and sharing of thoughts may be a little recluse if Mercury is in the sign of Capricorn, or even Virgo and sometimes Scorpio, but many individuals will feel wide open to the teachings available under the influence of this aspect.

 

Verify which house Jupiter resides in within the natal chart.  This will also be an area of life that will be affected by open-minded concepts. 

 

Take advantage of these energies by perhaps learning new teachings or returning to school.  If you have these energies activated in your chart, you may wish to travel abroad to gain experience and in so doing, gain understanding of other cultures.  Long distance travel whether in the mind or physically are often by-products of transiting Jupiter conjunct natal Mercury.

WHAT IS YOUR APPROACH TO THIS SITUATION?

There certainly seems to be a division between two different paths of thinking with our current pandemic.  There are individuals who believe that all that is transpiring is a conspiracy that threatens mankind’s way of life.  The government is dictating to us and that the masses are being herded like sheep around a virus which is no more than the common yearly flu.  On the other side of the road there are individuals who honour the rules put in place as a means to protect themselves from a virus which they believe is a threat to mankind as a whole. 

 

No matter what you beliefs are, it is imperative that you do not get caught up in the fear mongering from either side.  Living in stress and fear can create depression and the feeling of having little control in what is being manifested in our lives. 

 

Some individuals have expressed they constantly worry and experience anxiety over the fact that they may become sick and pass.  Some individuals have expressed the fear of repression and will take their chances with the virus to rally against the government and their underhanded plans.  Unfortunately both sides can be extreme in their thinking and it is creating a divide amongst the masses. 

 

We can honour each other and allow.   Respect always has its place.  Living in gratitude for whatever we have in our lives honours our existence.  Honouring our differences is what eliminates fear, depression, emotional and mental fatigue, anxiety and the list goes on.  These are the enemy.   

 

Is this pandemic a wakeup call to take a second look at how we are living our lives? 

 

If our beliefs cannot hold up under the stress of our current situation than these beliefs are not viable. 

 

Maybe we have been afforded the opportunity to make a difference through love and caring. 

 

So many people are stepping up to make a difference.  Celebrities are offering free concerts and fundraisers from the safety of their homes.  Horse owners are visiting retirement and nursing homes with their horses to cheer those living there.  In many ways, many people are placing themselves second to the needs of those around them and living their life with great passion and concern for others.  They believe that the greatest lessons come from adversity and do not struggle with what might be.  They live for today and do what they can to help others.  They are the examples for others to step up and through love walk through this difficult lesson. 

 

Do not allow yourself to swept away with fear.  The healthy alternative is to live with acts of love and compassion.

SUN IN CANCER JUNE 20, 2021

 

We apologize for being so late with our Cancer post, but we were on holidays last week.

 

Cancer is a cardinal, water sign offering those with this free-flowing Sun sign, the push to succeed particularly when it comes to nurturing and caring for those that they love. 

 

Cancer individuals are emotional and sensitive and genuinely care about the welfare of others, especially family.

 

Many with strong emphasis in the Sign of Cancer (or fourth house) have a difficult time separating their feelings from their thoughts. They feel what they think, and this unique insight can often lead to the opening of channels to intuition and psychic perception, as these gifts are generally not part of the intellect.

 

With strong emotional ties to their personality, Cancer individuals are usually known for their gentleness and tranquil nature. Do not be fooled by perhaps their standoffish manner especially when ridiculed or when they feel attacked emotionally for there is a lot that goes on beneath the surface with these individuals.

 

The sensitivity that is so inherent within this group of unique individuals can become their greatest asset as time passes or become their weakest element in their psyche if self-expression is hindered.

 

Currently, those individuals with their Sun sign in and around the 25-degree Cancer (allow an orb of 5 degrees on either side, so 20-to-29-degree Cancer) have an opposition to Pluto in their birth chart.  As of June 22, 2021, transiting Pluto was at 26 degrees and 09 minutes in the sign of Capricorn.  The closer transiting Pluto moves to forming a direct opposition to your Cancer Sun, the stronger the energies become.  Those with their Sun in earlier or later degrees of Cancer will have to check an ephemeris for dates when this opposition was direct or is going to be direct in their charts.

 

Pluto’s energies focus on transformations and the need to uprooting due to required change.  Often the changes that come to pass are permanent in their nature and what once was will no longer exist.  These will be a thing of the past.  These changes can be personal and stem from delving deep within to uncover anything that needs to surface or be faced.  This can involve relationships of significance, working conditions, health regiments, children, spiritual enlightenment, finances, security issues and self-undoing just to name a few.  Much will depend on the areas of life involvement which is defined by the house positions affected in your personal astrology chart.

 

Oppositions often involve others and frequently this aspect speak in terms of actions taken by others which force change and/or disruption upon you.  This is not to say that you have nothing to do with what might be transpiring, but often the instigators stem from other people or outside influences.  This can be quite disruptive but when the energies finally complete their cycle which is usually when transiting Pluto is at least 2 degrees past being direct and completely finished its contact (retrograde motion can bring back the issue), then life settles, and the changes put in place can be viewed from a different perspective than when we are caught up in the transition.

 

The energies of this transit from Pluto to the Cancer Sun are long lasting, often challenging, life changing and often permanent in nature.  People need to make significant alterations to the situation at hand and stick with what they are aiming to put in place.  If you become complacent or try to avoid the needed changes, outside influences seem to step in and alter life’s course so that things line up the way they should with or without your assistance.  

 

Be ready for transformation, regeneration, and resolution over a period of time.  Acknowledge that the changes set in place are always for your greater good, even when it does not appear that way in the beginning.  This change is necessary and are beneficial over the long haul.

JUPITER - RETROGRADE/DIRECT MOTIONS

When Jupiter goes into its retrograde, this cycle lasts about 120 days and will move between 10 to 20 degrees.  Jupiter goes retrograde every year and as retrogrades usually indicate that the energy is not strong or its full expression is restricted, Jupiter in retrograde still offers opportunities for expansion and optimism, although somewhat challenged when it is touched by Saturn.

 

You can use an orb of 3-4 degrees when determining if Jupiter will affect any of the planets or important points in your natal chart.  As it crosses these placements, the energy of Jupiter will increase.  As I write this post, Jupiter has been direct since September 13, 2020, and its positive expansiveness is considered to be alive and well.  Jupiter moves into its retrograde cycle on June 20, 2021.

 

Under normal conditions Jupiter is known as the great benefactor, but it is said that when it moves into retrograde, the energies of these characteristics seem to fade, and its normal opportunistic influence is felt on an inner level.  On the material side of things, however, it is less effective but still present.  It is suggested that if you are considering buying property or big luxury items while Jupiter is in retrograde motion that you reconsider waiting until Jupiter is once again in direct motion.  Much depends on the natal aspects to your Jupiter.  In general, Jupiter’s energies are not as lucky in retrograde motion as they are under direct motion.

 

When Jupiter moves into retrograde, its impact is felt on an inner level rather than in our outside world.  During a retrograde cycle, you can benefit greatly if you focus on inner growth and awareness.  Getting in touch with who you are and objectively viewing yourself making alterations along the way would be very beneficial. 

 

Jupiter is the planet of expansion and is connected to spirituality and the philosophies of life that have deeper meaning.  If you have a look at the house it is transiting through as well as the house it is located in your natal chart, these will be areas of life that you can do work on and transform in ways that will suit you better (once Jupiter is direct again).  It is a time of contemplation when Jupiter is retrograde. 

 

Remember to view Jupiter even when retrograde in a positive way, even if what you see or if your life’s direction is not what you thought it was.  Under the retrograde influence you can make adjustments to the way you have been living your life, transform your life’s direction and put yourself on track with where you should be going.

 

Jupiter in retrograde is connected to the lessons in life that are required during that specific time.  Be honest with yourself under this influence, and you will be able to re-examine your truths and gauge these with a keen eye in order to decide what you want to change and what is worthy of keeping.  These are often aspects of yourself that need some tweaking, in turn creating a higher version of yourself on track and ready to move in your intended direction.  Look inside yourself and find those inner riches.

 

While under the influence of Jupiter in retrograde, if you are making plans to go into a business venture, make sure that you take the time to consider all the aspects connected to making this decision.  You may find that you will make great expenditures when Jupiter is retrograde.  This is not always a wise decision and likely not one you would make if Jupiter were in direct motion.  It is actually best to wait before making any decisions, unless your natal Jupiter and the planets connected to it in the natal chart are “well” aspected. 

 

Check to see what the natal chart is saying and then make your decisions.  Just make sure that you are viewing these contacts with clarity and watch for expanded optimism.

 

Once Jupiter has gone back into direct motion and is making aspects to other planets in your natal chart, you will be able to gage what areas of life might be affected and the potential outcome of actions taken. 

 

Jupiter is a very positive influence in your life and will enhance most experiences, especially when linked to higher energy.

SUMMER SOLSTICE

We will be celebrating the summer solstice on June 20, 2021, at 11:32 P.M. EDT in the Northern hemisphere.  This powerful solar energy recharges our spirits, minds and bodies.

 

All things are energy and this energy is interconnected.  Some of us are quite aware of these influential external energies and others, are not.  With or without this awareness, all living things are affected by the position of the planets at their birth, by the continual movement of the planets, by the influence of the rotation of our earth including the changing seasons and any other shifts that occur in nature. 

 

When guided by spirit/our higher self (call it what you will), our focus is to walk and live our truth, during the easy times but especially during the times that we are being tested.  Take advantage of the strong solar energies of the Summer Solstice to push forward.  Use the more aggressive energies of the Sun to catapult forward and allow yourself to bloom into your own true creation.  Rise above your thinking mind and allow.  See the world around you for what it is without judgement. 

 

As with the Sun currently at its fullest potential (from our earthly position,) you too can allow all of your inner power and beauty to radiate out.  By doing so, you express your true self and there is nothing more perfect that your true self.  By allowing your true authentic self to bloom, each and every other living thing that your energy touches will also benefit.

A HEALTHY CONSTITUTION IN THE NATAL CHART

Amid worries and concerns for our health, we thought that it might be appropriate to provide a few details that determine under most conditions, good health indicators within the natal profile.  It should be understood that these conditions within the chart can be mitigated by other more influential energies found in the chart.  Rather than have people concerned about indicators of ill health found in the natal chart, we thought it more appropriate to discuss the more positive aspects related to the natal profile and their potential.

 

Health indicators can be found in several different areas of the natal chart; however challenging transits can influence some of these conditions, although the natal chart is our foundation.  A favourable natal chart can diminish challenging transits.

 

What we are about to discuss will help us to some degree understand the workings of health indicators found in the natal chart.  It should be noted that positive attitude regardless of what the chart suggests can affect our lives in a very constructive way. 

 

The Sun, the Ascendant, the sixth and twelfth houses are the prime indicators dealing with health.  A transiting outer planet moving through or connected to one of these positions in hard aspect does not have to indicate poor health.  There must be several indicators pointing in the same direction to have an overall impact on the health of all individuals.

 

The Sun is our vital energy along with Mars.  If one or both of these planets are connected positively by trine or sextile, this would be considered favourable.  Jupiter and Venus would likely be a positive influence especially if connected by trine or sextile.  Even the conjunction can be favourable.  In many cases almost any connection from Jupiter to the Sun is considered a positive aspect. 

 

Exercise and healthy eating habits will be foremost in our overall health.  We need to live healthy to assist our opportunistic aspects and planet positions which indicate good health.  We always have a hand in our life.

 

Mars is our energy and drive.  If connected positively to the sixth house or ruling the sixth house and in favourable aspect, Mars’ energy can be complimentary as well.  If the Sun rules or if found in the sixth house and favourably aspected within the natal chart, this can also be considered positive.  Mars is considered a malefic planet but if favourably connected, it does not have to be perceived in this manner. 

You will also have to have a look at the sixth house ruler and how it is aspected; if it receives favourable aspects from other planets in the natal profile, this can also be viewed as a positive indicator of an ability to overcome illness. 

 

Beyond these pointers, you will also have to take into consideration age as this plays a significant role in this delineation. 

 

A well aspected Ascendant will help with any recovery from illness and if Mars is closely conjunct and favourably aspected, it can often speak of a strong resilience or fight for survival.  This will be aided by strong positive aspects from other planets as well. 

 

Saturn in positive aspect can indicate a strong constitution and a well aspected Mercury provides resilience when it comes to dealing from a mental perspective to illness.  

 

A strong Pluto gives powerful recovery potential as well as an ability to regenerate from many illnesses.

 

Strong emphasis in the eighth house is often a positive indicator of resilience and recuperative abilities.  The twelfth house is more tied to chronic conditions and this current Covid 19 is not considered chronic and will eventually pass. 

 

It is important to have a healthy lifestyle.  Alcohol and drug addiction, sometimes connected to the twelfth house and the sign Pisces, makes the body more susceptible, so perhaps some of us will need to make alterations at this time.

 

Challenges will often make us look a little deeper into our life and we may decide to make positive changes as a result of this pandemic.  There are always valuable lessons to be learned and this certainly is a good time to reflect.  In many cases, these periods point out our resilience and perseverance abilities.  We are stronger than we think and together we can aid each other in many ways. 

 

In short, this is a transformation agent at work on the deepest levels and what we do with this energy now and in the future speaks volumes on what we are learning and how we might move forward.

 

As of this date now into June 2021, it appears we are well on our way to defeating this virus.  It will be important to stay vigilant as we work our way through the process and soon life will get back to some form of normalcy whatever that may look like.

URANUS IN TAURUS

Uranus takes about 7 years to move from one sign to the next.  It will remain in Taurus until 2026.  Uranus often acts through unconventional means.  It is impulsive and erratic in its energies and very unpredictable.  As a matter of fact, it is the most unpredictable planet in astrology. 

 

Uranus can be used as a timer and often initiates activity on the day or accompanying days when it is direct with any planet in your chart.  Uranus seeks evolution through change and disruption and its action is sudden, somewhat obstructive but it seeks change because change is needed.  When it has completed its task, over time, you can see why change was a requirement.

 

Taurus is the sign of stability and is a stabilizing energy.  This sign is not good with change particularly change that is sudden or unexpected.  It likes the known and reliable and will strengthen its hold offering consistent and lasting output that will bring security through action.  This action, however, takes time to unfold and before you can see the results.  Taurus is steadfast and can be counted on with a steading influence and a solidifying and strong foundation built over time.

 

As you can imagine, these two energies can collide.  There will be some disruption to the comfortable norm.  It will likely take some work to move from one apparent comfortable situation to something new which might not look that secure, but Uranus is the awakener and pushes us ahead, so we don’t become complacent and too comfortable.  The change, which is likely over time, will be a steadying influence but letting go of the old will likely be difficult. 

 

We become so fixated in what was and it feels so ordinary that the changes ahead might feel a bit frightening even if we are not sure where that new direction might take us.  Uranus takes us forward through evolution and experience.  We often get hints along the way that suggest a new path is ahead.  Some individuals openly react to this, although with Taurus, the likelihood of an easy transition is probably not the case.  We might fight with everything we have to keep things as they were as they felt safe and we are relaxed and secure in their presence.  However, change is a requirement, and the soul knows it is time.

 

Something of the past will be carries forward, but only what is needed and that which is left behind is likely only a hinderance to our on-going evolutionary quest.

TRANSITING URANUS OPPOSITION NATAL SATURN

Uranus and Saturn are opposing forces in many ways.  Saturn represents discipline, stability, structure, and the gradual movement towards a goal.  Saturn’s energies do not like change or any kind of disruption and Saturn’s energies are quite willing to wait for things to settle before moving forward.  Saturn’s energies are reliable, secure and offer rewards for perseverance and hard work. 

 

Uranus, on the other hand represents the need for change and its energies are disruptive which often initiate change.  Uranus is a freedom-seeking planet, once again, through the agent of change and seeking the new because the old, outdated ways no longer serve a viable purpose.  

 

As you can see these planets’ energies oppose each other and are quite different. 

 

When in opposition, which often suggests that the energies in place stem from outside sources (often from the actions of others), we will find that Uranus will uproot what once was a stable and secure situation in life.  Often, if an intimate relationship is part of the equation, people will separate, new relationships are formed and changes in the most secure relationships take place.  If the relationship no longer satisfies the need for more space or more freedom of expression, changes will take place.  If someone new and exciting comes into the picture, people may leave what was once a comfortable and satisfying relationship.  

 

The feeling that a change must take place may be felt for some time and this aspect will create an event to take place that will force the change.  More often than not, it is someone else that instigates the change or some other outside influence with the energies of an opposition aspect.  

 

One thing that is frequently associated with this aspect is that longevity is not often a factor (when it comes to any new relationships).

 

If this aspect somehow involves the workplace or occupation, changes often take place in these areas.  Uranus’ action is often sudden and unexpected, and people will leave places where they have been employed for many years in search for something more in line with what they want or what they need currently in life.

RENEW OUR FOCUS

In order to maintain a positive journey, it is necessary to re-align our focus from time to time.  Sometimes we get a little lost in events and forget that our concentrated focus forms our reality.  We can easily get lost and/or become complacent.  Unintentionally, we go on automatic pilot.  When the lessons get tough, we can get lost in an attitude of “why me” and allow this less-than-ideal attitude to carry us away.  Thank goodness something jolts us back into the moment and reminds us that our focus is exaggerating the lesson that we see as being overly tough.

 

We are human and it is human to vary off course with our focus and gratitude.  Be gentle with yourself but the faster we recognize our “unfocus”, the faster we can re-centre ourselves and start to enjoy the ride.  It is essential to pay attention to what is important in our lives and what brings us happiness, especially during these harder lessons.  We are always able to shift our focus to anything that helps us to experience happiness (it is a choice).  This choice eventually helps us to choose calm.

 

The object of our focus does not have to be anything colossal.  As a matter of fact, it is usually the small, simple pleasures of life that help to uplift us.  Deal with issues as they surface but as we are well aware, focusing on negativity only brews sadness, fear and anxiety.

 

If we have allowed ourselves to slip back into negativity for an extended time or if this is a new concept, it can certainly take some work to retrain ourselves.  It can be difficult to even recognize our “woe is me” attitude in the beginning, but with constant mental reminders and a gentle but concentrated effort, it does get much easier.  Eventually recognizing negativity becomes effortless.  Your vibration (energy) changes as you regain your positive momentum and life will feel as though it is lifting.  It will feel much lighter and easier. 

 

It may take some time for these effects to be noticeable.  Little by little, we notice the subtle changes and our lives will begin to feel and look much more promising. 

 

Do not give in to the challenging conditions in life.  View them simply as lessons that lead us to great growth and development. 

 

We can never forget our focus.  By developing a positive focus, we take control of our journey and our attitude towards it.

SOLAR ECLIPSE JUNE 10, 2021

 Our next solar eclipse, which is an annular solar eclipse begins June 10^th at 5:35 AM and will reach its maximum extent at 5:40 AM. It will end at 6:38 AM EDT in Toronto, Ontario.  Please see the picture for visibility Canada courtesy of the University of Toronto. 

 

It is said that a solar eclipse lasts in years as long as its duration is in hours and minutes.  This eclipse’s total time elapse will be 1 hour and 50 minutes, so its effects will last almost 2 years. 

 

This eclipse is most powerful for those with a planet or angle in their natal chart in conjunction or opposition to the degree this eclipse is in.  This eclipse is in the Sign of Gemini and at 19 degrees.  You can allow at 3 degree orb on either side, so it will affect those between 16 to 22 degrees of Gemini or Sagittarius (some astrologers give as much as a 5-degree orb of influence).  This is not to say that those with squares or other major aspects to this degree will not be influenced, but it has been noted that the conjunction and opposition have the greatest effects.

 

A solar eclipse can occur during a New Moon when the Sun and Moon are in conjunction to one another, and the Moon blocks out the Sun; and in the case of the Annular Solar Eclipse, it almost blocks out the whole Sun, but leaves a visible ring which is referred to as the “Ring of Fire”.  It is important for everyone to equate this Solar Eclipse to the house placement where it occurs in their natal chart, and it is extremely important for those that have it directly on their ascendant or midheaven as these are great areas of accentuation.  The houses are the areas of life that will be affected.

 

New Moon’s and a Solar eclipse, which only happens about once or sometimes twice a year, speak of new beginnings, sometimes bringing good news, prospects and can uncover hidden potential.  A new cycle has begun.  In Gemini the sign of seeking knowledge, communication and adventure especially if you have a planet in the sign of Sagittarius at this degree can open the door and bring opportunities to the forefront.  Change is often inevitable but also due.  Sometimes we have to leave something behind in order for something to begin.  Letting go is a theme of New Moon and an Eclipse. 

 

Have a look at the house and Planet which will be affected by this transitional stage of development and use these energies to the best of your abilities, taking in what comes with open arms and knowing on some level this is an opportunity to learn from and experience life potentially from a different lens.

DELIGHT IN TRUTH

Reflect on all of the good that life provides.  What is the purpose of fixating on what “you feel” you are missing in your life.  What is the purpose of having an attitude of “why me” because of the difficult lessons you are learning from time to time.  Deal with issues as they arise but be sure to be thankful for all that you accomplish and for life’s fulfillments and the love generated from within.

 

Be thankful for your life and all its blessings.  Be thankful for that little voice inside.  Be thankful for your ability to filter thoughts and act on them.  Be thankful of the tranquility that the mind can experience through acts of meditation.  Be thankful for all interactions in life that provide you with the resources necessary to move forward with your life. 

 

Take a moment to reflect on your own personal life and all the gifts within it.  In reality, they are too numerous to try to list.  Take an honest look at your life.  Be thankful for all the challenges that life provides you with for these are your steppingstones to growth.

 

Find that place within that brings you peace and contentment and reside there.  Be in the moment and appreciate all that exists.  Embrace your chosen life and the rewards that are ever present.  Revel in them!  Above all, be thankful for your connection with life itself and the understanding that you are of the oneness that exists in all things.  Understand the truth of this oneness and know that you are an integral part of it.
