DELINEATING THE BIRTH CHART PART II

We are continuing with our chart delineation topic from August 27.  Again, we are touching on the various techniques used, the tools which are used, to find and understand the important characteristics and psychological makeup inherent in a birth chart.

Along with the previous tools mentioned in the August 27 post, you will also want to check into chart configurations such as the grand trine.  Remember there are four elements that the grand trine can be found in (air, water, fire and earth) each one speaks of self-sufficiency in the energies of these elements.  They also promote opportunities and often indicate good luck and easy flow.  If the grand trine is found to occupy two different elements such as 2 planets being in Water and the third being Air, this is still considered a Grand trine but it is weakened because it has been split into two elements.

You will want to check to see if there is a grand square.  This configuration is quite different from the grand trine.  The grand square usually suggests challenging conditions when activated through transit or progression.  Often the person will feel stuck and unable to move forward in their life and will need to learn to centre themselves and find an operational outlet.  This is usually found through the energies of the closest easy going aspect (trine, sextile, sometimes the quintile) that is attached to one of the four planets or points involved in the grand square.

The T-square, along with the grand cross or grand square, are challenging configuration but usually provide the stimulus needed to push us forward in life and to overcome obstacles.  People gain momentum when in balance, but are stifled when they are unable to move ahead.  Remember all these configurations have intensity, but are strengthened in their influence the tighter the angle between planets or other important points (Mid-heaven, Ascendant) to one another.

We need squares and oppositions in our charts to push us and challenge us.  Without these learning aspects we would easily stagnate.  For example, if someone has grand trines in their charts and very few tight squares or oppositions, when they are met with a challenging condition, they are unaccustomed to the pressure and do not know how to handle difficult situations.  Someone with several learning or challenging aspects in their chart is accustomed to stressful conditions and will more easily challenge and overcome the more difficult lessons in life.

People with the Yod configuration in their birth chart often experience life in ways that are challenging and they are forced to confront the issue at hand.  The energy of this configuration can often produce much stress and could be classified as turning points when activated, where we have to make transformations in life which often leads to awareness or life changing condition.  These events often seem preordained.  Life seems to play havoc with anyone with a Yod and they are forced to make changes because it is too difficult to accommodate these trying times.

All of these configurations referred to will have to be delineated by the house positions and by the planetary energies involved, as well as the story being told by other planets such as Mercury (it rules the mind and how one assimilates life) to determine how these configurations affect each individual.

You can also determine much about individual characteristics by any emphasis by sign and house.  The sign that has several planets located within its limits, such as say five planets in Scorpio, can overpower a softer solar placement, although the Sun still has a role in the our individual makeup.

It is the same with an influence in specific houses such as say 5 planets in the fourth house.  This particular influence suggests strong Cancer tendencies in the character of this individual.  An individual with 5 planets in the fifth house (naturally ruled by Leo) a rising sign of Leo and a Sun sign of Capricorn would still want to move up the corporate ladder, but may not remain as low key as many Capricorn people would be, as Leo would push the personality out and make this individual very “centre stage” Leo as well as “driven” Capricorn by nature.

We will have more delineations methods to in our next Astrology post on September 3.

ETERNALLY YOUNG

Take a moment to sit and enjoy watching our young.  Watch their behaviour and pay attention to their attitudes.  Do these behaviours and attitudes in any way match up with yours?

The first thing we usually notice from children is that they are living in the moment.  They are not concerned about what tomorrow brings.  As a matter of fact, they are not even aware that tomorrow will exists.  If they are content playing, sharing with a friend or simply watching and taking in what you might be doing, they ARE happy and living in the here and now.

If their attention is somehow swayed from their playing, if their friend stops playing with them or you change your focus to from them to something else, under normal circumstances, the child quickly shift their attention to something else without missing a beat.  They have moved on to something new.  Whatever draws their attention is what holds them in the moment.

They may become upset if they lose a toy, but usually for only a very short time and as soon as their attention in directed elsewhere, they forget their losses and move on.  They are innocent in their actions and do not hold grudges.  They are happy and content with whatever comes next.

Can you live this way?  Do you dwell on those things that you have lost in life or do you move forward?  Do you adapt to life’s circumstances and move forward with as much enthusiasm as a child?  Do you get stuck on “what used to be”?  Do you have a difficult time moving in new directions?

Just as our children, throughout our lives we will suddenly lose people, opportunities and things and will be forced to make changes in direction.  A new path or opportunity, however, will be place in front of us.  We then will have to choose – will we willingly follow this new opportunity and place our focus on life’s continually changing flow or will we fight for what was and swim against the current causing struggles and exhaustion?  We can become upset and depressed over what used to be or we can choose to move forward on our new route with enthusiasm.  If we can learn to easily change directions and not fight our inevitable course, life has so much more easy flow and the rewards are recognized immediately.

We should live as children and accept change when it comes, to move forward with little hesitation, especially when something is taken away from us or when someone has left us.  Many of us can get caught up in the past and when life’s path shifts we fight the changes that are inevitable.  This unfortunately causes us to temporarily lose our direction.  We cannot move forward until we have accepted and let go of the past.  We can and eventually must leave our past where it belongs, in the past.  Once we allow this to take place, we can move forward into the ever-changing moment.

Learning to swim with our life’s current and not struggling to swim against the current.  Floating or swimming with the current allows us to flow through our lives more readily.  We cannot change the current.  It will flow where it will.  Life will have its turbulent moments and each of us will experience our fair share.  The direction we swim is always our choice.

Remember a new door always opens when an old door closes.  This is not an ending but a new beginning.  Each new life experience builds from the previous ones.  Our life’s current is continuous and this is our path.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE PERFECT

There are many of us who strive to fulfill our life’s purpose and in doing so we can become wrapped up in the preconceived notion that we have to make ourselves perfect in the eyes of others and in the eyes of God.  I know, some people have an issue with the term God, so we can use the names source, humanity as a unit, love, peace.  Use whatever name you are comfortable with.

In our attempt to create the perfect individual that we perceive we should be, we lose sight of the fact that source is not the one judging whether we are perfect or not.  We are link eternally to Source and have been created exactly as we need to be.  With this understanding how can we possibly believe that we are not perfect on the deepest level?

Yes we are currently human and it is fine to recognize those qualities we do not view as perfect but they are just that, qualities and these qualities do not create us.  If we are failing in our attempt to create this perfect picture, perhaps we need to realize that within each of us this perfection, in real terms, already exists.

This is our dilemma.  We fail to see the perfection that is us; it is who we are.  If we are seeing imperfections and little flaws in our characters then perhaps we need to stop identifying with these imperfections and our thinking that the imperfections IS us.

We are perfect.  We were born perfect.  The flaws that we perceive are simply lessons to be learned and are not a part of who we are.

Our source does not judge or evaluate our evolution; we do.  Source already understands and accepts us in human form and terms.  Source knows the turmoil we experience because of this.  We are not suggesting that we stop moving forward or stop striving for clearer understanding, but we should not feel as though we are a failure because we have not met all of our expectations concerning the varying levels of development we have placed on ourselves.  Many of these lessons could persist throughout the course of this lifetime.  This one lifetime is but a grain of sand compared to the full shoreline of your soul.

Do not allow your expectations to cause you disappointment or worse.  Simply keep your focus.  Move forward the best way you know how.

In human form, it is impossible to be perfect but in the eyes of our source, we are just that.  We are our own judges created as a result of our ego.  The ego will always insist that we are not good enough and never will be.  We can either identify with the ego’s onslaught of pessimism or relish in the truth of our soul.

Live with the understanding that we are in pursuit of whatever comes next, whatever is in the moment and the ever-changing evolutionary process at hand.  We are perfect for where we are in our evolution and we will move forward regardless of intrusive ideas that ego places on us.  Live with the knowledge that we will advance at the pace we are meant to and always in the direction we need to go.

Allow the love that is ours to share.  Dwell in the eternal moment.  Find the peace that radiates from within always.

Do not live in fear.  Do not live in doubt for we are love and love is perfection at its peak.

TECHNIQUES IN DELINEATING NATAL CHARTS

We are going to touch on various techniques used in delineating an Astrological birth chart.  These are tools (which are not necessarily in any order of importance) used to find and understand the importance characteristics and psychological makeup inherent in a birth chart.

The Sun sign and its house placement play an important role in defining who we are on the inside.  This placement deals with our core personality and usually holds great importance in determining who we are.  It indicates our strengths along with the path we have chosen to pursue in life.  It is often our drive and, along with the placement of Mars, will determine how aggressive we pursue our purpose and identify our needs.

The Moon sign and its house placement define our inner emotional response to the world.  It defines our sensitivity, our compassion and our need for nurturing as well as our need to nurture others.  It is our emotional response to the world and our reaction to life’s events on an emotional level.  The Moon by sign and house also define where we can use these energies and tendencies and to what end they might result.

The Ascendant is often our initial reaction to life and the people we meet.  It often differs greatly from our Sun sign in that it is how we portray ourselves to the world.  It often defines who we are on the outside and may even describe our appearance.  Look not only at this sign placement but also at the ruling planet’s position in the birth chart.  For example, if your rising sign is Sagittarius, look to see where Jupiter is located and how it is aspected in the chart.  This will help define more clearly how you relate to the world and what expression you utilize.

The Sun, Moon and Ascendant have a powerful influence in defining us as individuals.  These three factors will go a long way in describing an individual and often lead the way to deciphering the birth chart.  Make sure that you take into consideration the sign and house position but also take into consideration the aspects that the Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant are receiving.  These will determine aptitude, perseverance and life attributes or deficiencies in the makeup of the individual.

You can look at patterns in the chart.  This is the pattern that the planets are forming as far as location in the chart.  There are several different patterns to take into consideration.  Some of these would be the bucket pattern, the bowl pattern, the locomotive pattern and splash pattern.  These help to characterize the personality in greater detail and each pattern differs significantly from one another.

You can look for hemispheric emphasis, along with if there is a Stellium found within the birth chart.  The Stellium will emphasize a specific area of the chart and when a transiting or progressed planet is influencing these planetary positions, there will be an array of energy targeted at this house for an extended period of time, until the transit or progression is finished making its influence known.

We will continue delineating the chart in our next Astrology post in two days.

YOUR OWN STRENGTH

Do you believe in your own personal capacity to overcome life’s obstacles?

Grasping this concept is very important as it enables us to move ahead and overcome any adversity, but we must believe that we have that strength and ability to do so.  We have tremendous reserves of energy and ability at our disposal, to challenge conditions and to learn valuable lessons.

We can do anything!  We must remember this; believe it to be true and fear nothing.  There is nothing that is put before us that cannot be overcome or at the very least met.  We have the inner strength to change any condition, to overcome any obstacle and to mold our life into anything we can dream or envision.

Sometimes, we believe that we know what is best for others and we might want to change conditions for our loved ones.  We believe that what is in front of them is not appropriate for them or we do not want them to have to face specific challenges.  We must come to terms with the fact that they are living their life and are on target moving in the direction that they are supposed to move.  We have to allow them to experience their own life’s lessons.  No matter how difficult it is to sit back and watch someone we love move in directions that we believe might be difficult for them, they too have their higher purpose.  We can offer advice but ultimately they will make the final decisions and experience what their higher self seeing appropriate.

Our own life, however, is in our hands and we can change any portion of it.  You might believe that a specific circumstance in this life is simply too monumental to overcome.  Life will run its own course with or without our consent.  Acceptance and working with our circumstances makes each step so much easier.  We have chosen to live this life with ever experience that unfolds.  We have agreed to each lesson (which some may view as obstacles) knowing that this is the best route to take.

How can we fight what life is teaching if we have agreed to the experience?  Take responsibility for the homework your higher self has agreed to take on.  Do the work necessary to master the lessons.  By doing so you will readily learn what life seems to be dictating.

There are times when we seem to be at the mercy of life’s events, but our attitude towards these events or lessons is always in our hands.  We can choose to learn with open arms and allow life to flow freely or we can challenge our lessons creating more havoc and unrest ultimately making the lesson far more difficult but rest assured that the lesson will eventually be learned.

We are resilient and we have strength far beyond what we recognize.  This inner strength grows as we see it for what it is and built confidence in our own abilities.  We become stronger as we move through life’s sometimes challenging lessons and as we become more aware of what we have within our own reservoirs.

Grasp the lessons at hand and watch as life changes.  Believe that you can and will learn.  What benefits will you reap from your lessons?

Believe in yourself and uncover the strength this is already a part of you.  Nothing is too big.  Nothing is too tedious.  Nothing can stand in your way but your doubt...your attitude.

You have the power.  You are the key.  Believe in yourself.  Learn and overcome.

SUN IN VIRGO

The Sun moves into the sign of Virgo on or about the 24th day of August.  This post will help identify some of the very distinctive character traits of those born with the Sun in Virgo (the inner self), a Rising Sign of Virgo (the face we show to the world) and several planetary links in the sixth house, naturally ruled by the sign Virgo.

Virgo is the sign of the virgin and many of these individuals are pure in their actions (not necessarily sexually).  They often remain true to their character and insist on truth and trust even after they have been betrayed by others.  This is not to say that they are naïve, although there is something innocent about their demeanour.

Virgo individuals are conservative in their approach to life and are rarely gamblers. They like the tried and tested route. Because of their intellectual approach to life and their ability to decipher even the tiniest of details, they are excellent problem solvers, although their approach may be considered by some as going to the extreme. They are very service oriented and enjoy helping others and have an uncanny ability to create order out of chaotic conditions. They truly give of themselves to those in need and can be counted on if they give you their word. They will offer their advice and aid in almost any situation.

Many are truth seekers and information gatherers.  They enjoy study and getting to the core of issues.  They are perfectionist by nature and analyse those they meet by carefully dissecting them to the core, uncovering all the little flaws of their personality.  Many Virgoans are somewhat nit-picky and do see faults in themselves and others, but can be open about it.  If they are open, they will speak their observations only to assist in some way.

They can be somewhat shy and retiring, although once you have their trust, they can be quite interactive.  They are studious and want to not only understand a topic of interest but want to understand these topics of interest thoroughly.  They are meticulous when it comes to their interests and will not miss anything.  This is where their perfectionist capabilities shine through.

Although they digest most any information that is appealing to them, they always feel as though there is more for them to learn and they are rarely satisfied until there is nothing left unturned on the subject.

They are very body conscious and feel everything on an emphasized level.  Nothing slips by them and they digest everything on a physical level.  Many Virgo individuals will self-diagnose or read intensely about their body and its parts to understand its intimate workings.  This can lead to obsessive behaviour in some and worry in many.  They will have to find ways to overcome and alleviate these conditions.  Health consciousness and diet along with hygiene are key character traits exhibited by many Virgo individuals.

Rewards come their way when perseverance is required and they will often take on jobs that are too difficult for others to handle as they can make it work in the very best possible way. They also make excellent writers, analyzers and critiques because of their ability to stick with something until it is completed. They are usually good at handling money matters and make great financial advisers.

In the working environment, Virgoans can be very fussy and critical of their own work.  They are meticulous about every detail and their working environment has to be in order, with everything in its proper place.  They also make great secretaries or assistants.  Order is essential for them and will help them in many of their endeavours in life.  When it comes to their work ethics and performance, there are few that can compare.  They will dissect everything with great enthusiasm and enjoy their work, even if they will not admit this.  They truly want to do their best at everything in life.

Many Virgos are living in the practical world of efficiency and the material world is right up their alley.  In general, they complete their tasks regularly and when things are left incomplete or messy, it is a sure sign that something in their life is out of balance or our of harmony.  This is often a by-product of being unhappy with their own efforts and they will criticize their own work to a fault.  It would suit them very well both mentally and physically if they could stop being so judgemental particularly on a personal level.

Virgo individuals are meticulous about everyday details and although they insist that they do not need applause or a complement for their work, they do appreciate being needed and enjoy helping.  They also want respect for their hard work.

Those with Virgo dominant in their charts could learn to develop a more carefree attitude and learn to exercise forgiveness that stems from deep within.  It is always beneficial to relax and enjoying what life has to offer.
