Transits Defined Part I

In continuation of our explanation on the workings of Astrology, we are going to touch on what transits are and how they affect the birth chart.  As explained previously, the birth chart or natal chart is a snapshot of the heavens at the instant of birth.  Time literally freezes to create the birth chart.  Once the snapshot has been taken the planets continue on their path and we refer to this continued movement as transits.

Again, transits are the movement of planets through the zodiac or birth chart after the instant of birth.  Each planet moves at its own speeds.  The inner planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars and Jupiter) move at a more rapidly than the outer planets (Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto).  Their cycles vary due to the gravitational pull from the Sun.  The inner planets including the Moon move rapidly and their influence through transit are important but do not hold the significance of the outer or slower moving planets unless they go into retrograde (the appearance of moving backwards).  Retrograde Planets can remain in a close aspect to another planet or angle for several weeks, sometimes even months.

As these planets continue their movement, they will create aspects to the birth chart (angles or degrees from the birth positions).  These angles are called aspects and are defined by the degree they are apart from the original birth placement of the planets.  There are many aspects but the strongest is the Conjunction (0-10 degrees apart).  The closer an aspect is to exact degree (which would be when the planet in transit sits directly upon the placement of the birth planet), the stronger its influence.

This exact aspect is also used as a timing factor when determining events along with other mitigating factors in the horoscope.  The outer planets (sometimes Jupiter especially when it turns retrograde, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) have a greater significance in the horoscope due to their slow movement.  Neptune and Pluto move about one degree per year, therefore you feel the energy of these planets for a very long period of time.  Some individuals will experience these energies for 3 years.  Some will experience the energies even longer.  Much depends on how attuned to the energies you are.

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF

When our world feels as though it is upside down, we can sometimes feel as though all of our hard work has gone by the wayside.  These are the moments that we must stay strong and believe.  Inevitably, there will be times that it feels as though the world is fighting against us and we feeling empty and alone.  These are our valuable life’s lesson and they have been placed in front of us to overcome and to expand our understanding.  We are not to bow our heads in surrender nor are we to allow setbacks to steer us off course.  If we surrender under pressure, what value do our beliefs actually have?  Our belief structures should push us to rise above life’s hurdles and assist us in moving forward.

We are all faced with difficulties and deep inside we know that these lessons have been put in place for learning purposes.  When life events seem to offend our present state of being, we know instinctively that we have to rise above these.  We also know that challenges are placed in front of us so that we can find inner strength to move forward in our life’s objectives.  These lessons only serve to make us review our current focus and situations.  If our views, values or current situation no longer serving us then it is time to re-examine them.  If they do, this life lessons serves as a reminder that we are on the right path.

When we are at our weakest moments and we are ready to give up, this is when you find our inner strength and fortitude needed to overcome any situation.  We are not born into this existence to feel overcome and squashed.  We are meant to stand tall, learn and overcome each and every situation.  We all have the strength to carry on, no matter how unjust events may feel or seem.

Believe and recognize that thread of hope that is always in existence.  If we maintain our objective, we will succeed even when all else fails.  When we stand alone in the face of darkness, we can simply allow our light to shine.  At journey’s end, there is always a new chapter waiting for us.  We can and will overcome anything as long as we put our minds on the proper focal point.  Believe in the unbelievable, obtain the unattainable.  We will only fall short if we do not believe.

Believe that you can and will overcome.  Some life events may not seem fair.  Define “fair” please.  Our earthly perspective is so limited. 

We are never ruled by life’s incidents but we are ruled by our attitude towards these incidents.  We will never fall short of our life’s purpose if we keep pushing forward. 

There is always an open door simply waiting for us to walk through.

When we are at our final life’s event, as each of us will make that final passage for this life experience, ensure that you will have no regrets, that you hold no grudges and that you believe.  Understand that our energy is perpetual;  life as we know it will comes to an end but not until we have experienced this life’s purpose.  Until that day comes, we can and will learn, we will gain momentum, we will be guided by inner strength and we will be able to overcome anything life puts in front of us as long as we believe.

REACHING OUT

If the struggle seems to be getting too much and you do not know which way to turn, perhaps you might consider asking for outside assistance.  Sometimes an impartial opinion can offer a solution we simply would not think of. 

Many feel as though they have failed when they reach what seems to be an impassable hurdle and find it very difficult to go to others for help.  Many of us throughout life have relied strictly on our own resolve and feel pretty good because up to this point in life, we have managed quite well. 

There is no shame in reaching out to others for support or assistance.  Many of us never question helping others.  Why then would we question seeking help for ourselves?

Is pride the only thing that holds us back?  If we analyse what pride actually is, we will discover that it is a form of ego.  So in reality, it is ego that stops us from asking for help when it is needed. 

We are not suggesting that every time we hit a snag in life that we should call out for help from others.  Most of the time if we dig deep enough we will discover that we have what it takes to resolve the issue.  Struggles build character, self-worth, expansive thinking, etc.  Many times our greatest hurdles are our attitudes and where you choose to place our thoughts.  But when the time comes when we truly require help, it is alright to ask others for their opinions and assistance. 

When we have exhausted our personal resources, reach out to others for they might have the perfect solution for our issue.  In reaching out, there are different lessons in life.  We learn team work, possibly humility, certainly gratitude and much more. 

Many times, we are so emotionally involved in issues that we do not view the situation from an objective perspective.

We can stand on our own two feet in life, but must also be willing to let go of the ego’s hold and be willing to reach out when it is apparent that we are not able to find the resolutions that we are looking for.  We have not given in.  In reaching a solution for any issue, ultimately, we make the final decisions.  No one can help us with the final decisions.    Let go of ego’s interference.  Have the courage to ask others when the time is right.  We might just find exactly what we are looking for.

Influencing Us All - Neptune Sextile Pluto

The sextile between Neptune and Pluto is a long standing aspect and it has been in influence for 70 years.  As a result, everyone under the age of 70 will have this aspect in their birth chart.  There are many other influences in our birth charts so for some this aspect will be predominant and for others, they may have aspects that water down the affects of the sextile between Neptune and Pluto. 

This is a very sensitive placement between these two outer planets and is said to stimulate psychic and clairvoyant abilities, particularly if the Sun or Moon are also aspected by these planets.  The closer this sextile aspect is to being direct, the stronger the influence.

This sextile began during the Second World War around 1942 and deals with inner exploration, the mystical journey if you will.  I am sure that during the onset of the Second World War many individuals would have spent time in contemplation of the why behind the war and learned a great deal about themselves during their plight.  This would have taken place on a global scale and even though those that were fighting this war were not born with this sextile in their birth chart, they would have had it in transit.  This too would have affected different areas of their natal chart.

Pluto and Neptune both deal with the subconscious.  Neptune deals with spirituality while Pluto deals with transformation.  It takes little imagination to understanding the influence that these two giants in astrology would have in the lives of those that have this energy strongly influencing their lives.  The sextile between these two planetary energies deal with the collective and the philosophy of the people influenced by this union.  Many are swayed through the intuitive channels and are pioneering when dealing with problems faced by humanity.

Some with this aspect can use their psychic abilities and aid others in their quest for truth.  Many who have this sextile strongly placed in their birth charts have the potential for expanding their understanding of the psychic and mystical journey that we share.  When among groups of people with shared interests in these abilities, the potential can surface and become part of the everyday experience, after all it is known as the super-NATURAL.

It is believed that if we were to follow our dreams, we could make them a reality.  This holds just as true as the fact that we mold our reality through belief structure and expectations in life.  There are many clairvoyants and psychics with this sextile who openly use these techniques as tools to better our world one individual at a time.  We all have the abilities to infiltrate the consciousness.  We are to stay open and have a willingness to explore the inner regions of the mind and our true connection with the world of mysticism.

Many will experience precognitive dreams and many have innate psychic healing energies.  We can work with our dreams.  We can work with others to assist them in deciphering their dreams and use these tools as guiding factors in our lives. 

There is a great desire for justice and goodness among many of these people and a major factor in their lives is to assist others in reaching their spiritual potential and awakening to themselves.

You could check the transits of Uranus which is in Aries at present to calculate when it will trine your natal Pluto and also be in opposition to natal Neptune.  This should awaken many of the individuals that have this placement strong in their charts.  The influence may come from others and the areas of life that will be affected (house placements) will be associated with the placement of these natal planets in the birth chart.  You can use an orb of 5 degrees approaching and still feel the effects 2-3 degree separating.

THE PERFECT BOUNTY

It is said that we reap what we sow.  Do you feel this holds truth in your life?  Do you feel that your life has its just rewards and that you have to take responsibility for your actions?  Do you feel self-contained?  Do you feel as though you are in control of your destiny?  Do you feel as though life has the upper hand and it is taking you along for the ride?

If we feel as though our control in life is limited and we feel we are being dictated to by life’s events, we need to be reminded that our reactions are what dictate how long an event will hold influence in our lives.  We have forgotten that our reactions dictate how great the influence of an event is in our life.  We have forgotten that our reaction and focus is holding us back from moving beyond the event. 

It is impossible to always recognize the true purpose of each and every event in life.  If we were to look at life as a schooling of the soul and if we were to accept that all events in life serve as a propelling force moving us in a specific direction, we would be less stressed with each trial and tribulation.  If we can accept that this is our life’s purpose, we will understand that there are no wrong turns.  The study can be difficult but the lessons are as equally great as the experiences are tough!

So what is the perfect bounty reaped from these life lessons?  How have we evolved and interacted with these events?

Our perfect bounty is perpetually changing.  Our just rewards are revealed by our life’s ever-growing understanding and through our personal evolving story.  We have always been on course, even when we feel we have swayed.  Our lessons in life are presented throughout each specific event in life and they trigger a response from within.  Our responses in turn dictate our next steps.  So ultimately, we are in control of the next steps, even if on a subconscious level.

It is important to understand that we are responsible for our lives and to remind ourselves of this continually.  By taking responsibility and with an understanding that our higher self or soul has put these experiences that as humans we perceived or label as good or bad, we take much of the stress and judgement out of our lives.  We gain insight and allow ourselves to be thrust forward into new and expanding directions.

To clarify, we are not suggesting that situations such as an abusive relationship have been created by us.  We are suggesting that we have agreed to experience this relationship so as to utilize a powerful learning tool such as self-empowerment. 

If anyone is currently living under traumatic conditions, they must learn to harness the strength within to move beyond the hurdles that stand in front of them.  Our attitude and inner strength come into play under these conditions.  We can and will overcome!

We are at the controls.  Our reaction to events is always in our hands.  We choose how long we will be influenced by specific life conditions through our actions and reaction (or lack thereof) to these conditions.  Our mental reaction specifically dictates the emotional influence in our lives.  We are not at the mercy of life and can change direction physically and mentally at any given moment.  What do you choose?

DELINEATING THE BIRTH CHART PART IV

We are continuing with our chart delineation topic from August 27, September 1 and September 3.  Again, we are touching on the various techniques used, to find and understand the important characteristics and psychological makeup inherent in a birth chart. 

The ascendant or midheaven if found in the Cardinal placements of the birth chart (0-1 degree of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) or if planets are located close to the cusps of the first, fourth, seventh and tenth houses (the closer the stronger), these speak of important indicators in determining how life unfolds in a person’s chart.  These are considered action areas of the birth chart and when transiting planets conjunct or make important contacts with these areas (particularly the ascendant and midheaven) they often indicate outside influence from others or deserve special mentioning. 

For example, a person with a strong connection to the MC (midheaven) their career, their standing in the community and their aspirations will have important meanings in their lives.  When activated through transit or progression, these areas of life will be highlighted.

You also have to look into the final Dispositor in the birth chart, although this is on a more advanced astrological level.  You will have to determine how this planet will have an overall impact in your life.  The final Dispositor is the ruling planet and often the energies associated with that particular planet have a powerful effect on the person. 

For example, if the Dispositor is the planet Pluto, the transformational energies linked to Pluto will have a profound effect on this person’s life.  We have not touch on the final dispositor in any previous posts.  If you are looking for specific information on the final dispositor, we will be writing a post setting out more information in the near future.

 

There are other factors to review when delineating the birth chart, such as an emphasis on one particular aspect, or a lack of an aspect.  The factors are virtually endless.  With what we have touched on you can see the complexities when delineating the birth chart and how the energies vary because of the numerous possibilities.  Each of these variations will affect each individual on different levels.
