TRANSITING NEPTUNE ON THE IC, PART II

We are continuing our post from July 4, 2016 on Neptune passing over the IC and entering into the fourth house.    To review, we have discussed how Neptune tends to cloud things and whatever it touches is seldom clear and the direction life will take you in is likely yet to be understood.

Neptune may also prove to cause issues when you are trying to decide which part of your life deserves more attention, the working environment and your career (MC) or your family and home life (IC).  There is often a discrepancy with trying to decide which way to move forward and one area of life seems to get in the way of the other area of life.

Although all outer planets call for your attention and often instigate some needed change, often enacted through some stressful conditions, Neptune can also be insightful and inspirational.  During this period of Neptune crossing the IC, you may experience an awakening of sorts and you may be able to dive deeper into your core identity and understand what circumstances from your past have brought you to where you are now.  This can be a profound awakening period in your life.  With an understanding of what has brought you to where your life is now, doors can be opened for you.  Periods of your life may have been painful, but you are now able to delve into these areas to find solutions to situations that have held you back previous.

Much of your past can be exposed and understood now.  You can use this insight to facilitate growth on many levels.

Do not waste this opportunity.  Neptune does bring mystical insight and unclogs plugged drains, clearing the debris so the waters of emotion are free to flow again.

Much will depend on how Neptune is aspected in your birth chart.  How it will manifest in your life during this transition period is reflected through aspects in the birth chart.  Check not only Neptune’s natal potential, but also have a look at where Neptune is located in the birth chart by house position as well as the sign it is in.  This will give you extra information into the unfolding potential that exists during this once in a lifetime experience.

WE BECOME WHO WE THINK WE ARE

If we allow ourselves a few moments to reflect on who we are, without criticism, only paying attention to our most positive traits, what do we see? How does this positive knowing fit into our perceived notion of who we are? What frame of mind is this attitude originating from?

You have to take an honest look at who we think we are. Once we are being open to this thinking, we can eliminate or disengage ourselves from any preconceived negative ideas we hang on to.

We are products of the concepts that we identify with.  We believe that our “perceived impressions” are who we truly are. We are misled by notions that any perceived negative manifestation must be a part of who we are.

We are in a constant state of “becoming” and what we believe to be true, we create as our identity because through perpetual focus, we create.  If there is something in our makeup that clearly misrepresents who we want to be, then it is in our hands to make a conscious choice as to whether we will allow this characteristic to manifest on a physical and mental level. We are not at the mercy of our beliefs, unless we believe that we have no control over what transpires in our lives.

Who we think we are is true evidence of this.  Who we think we are now is a formulation of our current beliefs and it creates the perception we have of ourselves today.  We have manufactured this identity and it is our identification with this that allows us to perceive it as real. We use the term “identify” over and over again. If we understand the fact that our identification is what makes it so, we will understand why this term is used so frequently. It makes us aware of the control we have over situations in our lives and the manufacturing of our perception of who we are becoming.

If there is something within us that does not sit well or does not feel right, we can let it go and stop believing that it is part of us. We are the only person that makes anything in life truth for us personally. We manifest our beliefs over time and where we are and who we are now flows in conjunction with what we have allowed into our consciousness.

The saying goes “We become who we associate with”. We are told this early in life. We are told to pick our friends carefully as it is easy to form ourselves into what is in front of us. However, we have actually chosen to take this characteristic from our friend and to make it our own. It is all too easy to mirror what we see regularly.  Just as our thoughts, we mirror or manifest into our personality that which we think.

We control the building of concrete materials and characteristics into our lives. Do not place responsibility on others for what you experience in your life. What has happened in the past is in the past. What we do, say, think, feel today is a product of a choice we are making today. Let the events of yesterday stay where they belong..... in the past. When we learn to channel our focus and our identification of self, our focus materializes our new reality. The choice is ours.

Look within and find what feels comfortable, what feels right.  Hold on to those qualities. Let go of anything that does not resonate in our core. We can release ourselves from the grips of these qualities. We have been practicing this exercise our whole lives but not fully understanding our ability to choose and create. Now it is time to understand that we are manifesting our own reality on a conscious level through our intentions and focus.

TRANSITING NEPTUNE ON THE IC, PART I

The IC or Imum Coeli ("bottom of the sky" in Latin) is exact opposite of the Midheaven in our Astrology Chart and in most charts (depending on the house system used) is located on the Fourth House cusp.

When Neptune crosses our IC, particularly if it goes retrograde or stations on our IC, its effects can be quite intense, even though Neptune’s natural energies are often subtle in their expression.  If it moves into retrograde on or shortly past the IC in our chart, it will pass over the same degree three times until it finally stays direct and moves into our fourth house.

Neptune moves slowly and can have quite a profound effect on us as its influence can last several months and sometimes even last for a few years in one specific area of our chart.  We can undoubtedly “imagine” (Neptune pun) its powerful influence and affect.

Neptune is the planet of inspiration, imagination, psychic intuition and deep, profound visions.  It is also the planet of deceit, hallucinations, foggy information and its energies can influence the potential misuse of drugs and alcohol to escape the harsh realities of life.

The IC and fourth house have to do with our home and family.  Its energies also relate to our roots and early life experience.  It deals with our heredity, our origin and when connected with Neptune, our subconscious.  We should look at how Neptune will affect the opposite area of our chart, which is the tenth house.  The tenth house deals primarily with our occupation, our aspirations in life, the goals we set for ourselves and our public reputation.  The tenth house is a very public house, while the fourth house is very private and deals with our most intimate life.  The fourth house also deals with the most submissive parent.  Some Astrologers say that it identifies the Mother; others say it identifies the father.

Quite often Neptune tends to cloud things and whatever it touches is seldom clear and the direction life will take us in is yet to be understood.  When Neptune crosses into the fourth house and particularly when it moves across the IC, the home life is often shrouded and unclear.  Perhaps someone in the family is going through a crisis, and we feel the need to offer assistance.  Sometimes the home itself is changed or being altered in some way.  Some will move during this time, others will redecorate the home.  There may be problems within the family unit or perhaps one of the parents is experiencing a stressful situation.  We may not be clear as to what is going on in this area of life.  Neptune can make things difficult and the road ahead is often not known or we may feel directionless.

Since the subconscious is enhanced by Neptune, this period may bring out early life conditions that have never been dealt with or family concerns that now need to surface.  Many will feel confused, even lost during Neptune’s passage into the fourth.  If issues come to the surface about the past, it is important to open up and discuss them so that we can clear the air and put them in the proper place once and for all.

We will continue looking at Transiting Neptune on the IC in our next post on July 6, 2016.

NATAL PLANET ON THE IC IN ASTROLOGY

When deciphering a birth chart, we need to consider any planet located within a 2 degree orb of approaching the IC (Imum Coelias which is Latin for the bottom of the sky).  We also have to consider a planet within a 3 degree orb separating from the IC as both of these circumstances will be significant.  The closer the planet is to the IC degree, the more powerful and significant its influence is in our lives.

The IC’s energy has to do with our early upbringing and early life experiences, whether this is on a conscious or unconscious level of understanding.  It also represents our Mother (or most nurturing parent), our home base and our roots.  It also deals with our family and end of life conditions.

A planet on the IC assists us in accessing our unconscious needs and wants as well as our access to early childhood experiences that have played a significant role in our early development.  Since the natural ruler of the IC or fourth house cusp is Cancer, this house is also identified with our nurturing response to our environment and is associated with this through our comfort level in our home environment and with family.  The planet closely tied to the IC assists us or challenges us, depending on the aspects it receives from other natal planets, in fulfilling our own personal emotional needs and comfort zone within our close personal surroundings.  In early childhood, this is often depicted from our close personal relationship with our peers, our parents and close family.

Since the fourth house or IC speaks in terms of our roots and root behaviours, a planet in conjunction with this degree in our chart has an important influence and works in such a way that we either feel comfortable in our own skin or feel as though there is something missing.  The planet and its identity has a great influence on how we nourish and protect ourselves as well as connect and generate psychic energies which nurtures us on a deep instinctual level.

If, for example, you have Saturn conjunct this position and poorly aspected in your chart, there would have been some struggles with authority or the father in early life.  Life may have felt like a testing ground and, although it may have been met with obstructions and difficulties in many cases, as life progresses, it also builds character and solidifies the core of who we are.

If, for example, you have Venus on this cusp and it is well aspected, the potential for finding love and affection in your early environment is highly likely and you would have felt protected which in turn provide you with concrete beliefs that you are likely to be protected and loved throughout this life.

As you can see much depends on the planet involved, its instinctive energies, how it is aspected in the chart and above all else what you choose to do with these energies as life progresses.  Even under the harshest of conditions, the potential to rearrange your life and mold it into something positive is always available.  It may take some time and diligent work on your part but life can always be altered to suit your best interests, much depends on your current frame of mind and what you believe is your true potential.

OUR GREATEST CHALLENGE

Make no mistake our single most challenging issue in life is to halt our ego’s relentless efforts to undermine our spiritual or mystical alignment.  As we have mentioned many times, we are here to experience life and to learn all as intended by our higher self.  These life events are here to teach us lessons that further our evolution and alignment us with oneness.

The ego attempts to halt our progress.  Ego is unyielding and insistent as it believes that if we achieve our objectives, we will cease its existence.  It fears annihilation and does not recognize that our objective is to put ego in its proper place, a place where it will assist us in ventures to gain insight into our own true identity.

Listening to the ego and identifying with it (believing that ego is you) only provides ego with strength and the ability to appear to be real.  In recognizing ego for what it truly is, a relentless thief of our peace, we can rectify our natural place in the order of things.  We will no longer be held captive and will be able to move freely towards our chosen direction, regardless of what that direction entails.

Identifying the ego in its infancy is beneficial and realizing that anything that goes against our natural harmonious flow is ego generated.  If ego is given full reign, we will automatically follow along blindly and we will believe intensely that ego is part of our true identity.  A free reign ego will deny us our most positive expression; whereas a controlled ego will push us forward and allow us to align with our inner self and its intention.

Love is a by-product of our true endeavours and anything that falls short of this ingrained support system is aligned with a free reign ego.  Quieten the aggressor within and stifle its arrogant attitude to heightening its own status.  Allow the powerful loving self to resonate from within.

TRANSITING SATURN AND NEPTUNE IN SQUARE

The square between transiting Neptune and transiting Saturn has been in effect since May of this year (2016) and will remain in effect until October.  Saturn has been retrograde and will turns direct on August 13.  The wane is in effect into October.  During this five month period, the square can directly affect your life especially if you have these two planetary energies in aspect in your natal chart.  Even those that do not have this aspect in their birth charts will feel the subliminal effects of the Neptunian energies of spirituality and the alignment with the higher sources linked with Saturn (the task-maker and builder).  As you can imagine these energies together have struggles aligning their energies.  Saturn has to do with reality and focusing on energies in constructive earth-type activities.  Neptune deals with the less tangible and works in direct correlation with spirituality, intuition and psychic inclinations and the imaginative side of life.

Neptune suggests that there will be higher ideals set in place.  Saturn suggests that the core foundation has to be built on stable ground if any of these Neptunian high-minded ideologies are to be fundamentally sound and have any lasting qualities.  This could be classified as a testing ground for reality and the rational mind which is being established through spiritual alignment and the mystical approach in a solid structured way of living.

Saturn brings clarity to our maze of heightened awareness often associated with Neptune.  Although this aspect is a square, the potential, after some struggle, for more clarity is quite profound, if you approach mysticism in a realistic and orderly fashion.  You must adhere to ways that hold Neptune in sync with Saturn’s need for unobstructed and clear vision.  In other words, do not let your mind drift towards directions of deception or cloudiness and maintain a firm grip on reality, realizing real and tangible results from the mental consumption of varying aspects of intuitive insight.  You can recognize truth if you take a real and honest approach.

Although your objectives may be a little unclear and it may be very challenging to deal with everyday affairs, let alone mystical pursuits, if the groundwork is in place much can be discovered and put into practice once this aspect has been conquered.  Make your life as simple as possible and stay true to your beliefs even though they may seem challenged from time to time during this aspect.  Seek out the connectedness in all that surrounds you and challenge the “life of form” and any limited concrete belief structures that you have put in place.

This is an opportunity to lift the veil of uncertainty and find greater truth.  It should be understood that any aspect can be molded to suit each and every situation and belief structure into something more tangible and reliable.  All aspects whether natal or transit can be utilized in positive ways to help provide you with strength and the ability needed to conquer any of life’s situation.

If you find that your views are pessimistic or unapproachable for some reason, take the time to review the situation as well as your own personal philosophy.  By doing so, you can set things straight.  Neptune provides you with the insight to achieve any of your pursuits as long as part of the process reduces the effect of ego.  There has to be consideration and assistance for others.  Saturn provides the stable environment to achieve these things.  This is the time, maybe not without a little struggle, to find insight and align yourself with the higher purpose you have been brought here to rediscover.
