For many of us, part of our life’s mission is to learn to assist particularly those who are vulnerable or are in need of help.  What does it cost willingly lend a hand to anyone that needs our assistance? 

Our assistance could benefit many from the less fortunate such as the homeless we chance to meet, an elderly person trying to maneuver their way with a heavy load, a young individual struggling with an unforeseen illness or even an individual who stood by while you were struggling and never raised a hand to help.

There are no boundaries when someone is in need and regardless of who they are and their lot in life we can happily lend a helping hand.  Those with extra time on their hands might find volunteering their services as an appropriate avenue of expression.  Some individuals that are in the healing professions have volunteered in nations far less privileged than ours.  Even when we are offering a gentle guiding voice and reassurance, we are using our abilities.  Assistance does not have to be something over the top.

We all have our gifts yet most of us still have to learn how to utilize them and recognize them for what they are. 

Do not compare what you can do to others.  We all have our special part.  There are always ample opportunities to reach out and touch someone in whatever way we can. 

Each of us is born into specific conditions and these conditions we have no control over.  Do not judge others. 

We all have a part to play.  Why would we want to waste the opportunities that fall into our laps?  We can all utilize what is available to us including being that guiding light for those that currently walk in the dark.

TRANSITING PLANETS APPLYING AND SEPARATING

We recently touched on planets and their effects when they are applying and separating in the natal chart. http://www.holmastrology.com/apps/blog/show/44468312-applying-and-separating-aspects-in-the-natal-chart  Due to the number of inquiries we received on this topic, we are expanding on that post to include transiting planets.

When two planets are beginning to form an aspect, regardless of the type of aspect, this is termed an applying aspect.  When the angle between the two planets is beginning to detach from one another or move apart this is known as a separating aspect.  The fastest moving planet (the planet closest to the Sun) is the planets considered to be approaching or applying the other planet.  For example Mars and Saturn coming together to form an aspect; Mars will be the faster moving planet.  Another example would be Venus and Pluto; Venus would be the faster moving planet.  Retrograde motion depending on which planets are involved can change this. 

When a planet is approaching or applying another planet, we begin to intuitively feel the energies and may feel that something is about to take place.  This could something quite exciting taking hold or there could be the feeling that things are about to fall apart; much depends on the planetary energies as well as the aspect that is being formed.  The faster moving planet is always the one that is stirring things up, the feeling that something is about to happen or the feeling that you should make a move on something. 

The slower moving planet’s energies produce the lesson or could be considered the planet that is shaping the experience at hand.  If for example Mars and Pluto are moving into opposition with one another, Mars will be stirring up feelings that something may happen in regards to sexual expression, even a feeling of danger, or action of some type, while Pluto will be saying that a transformation is about to take hold.  Prepare yourself for some disruption or potential irreversible change.  Your inner being may be challenged to make changes.  Because of the opposition this may stem from someone else rather than you initiating these changes.

The energies of the planets involved begin to intensify as they come closer to being at the same degree, and the heightened sensitivity becomes more apparent.  As they begin to move apart the feeling associated with what took place begin to dissipate and you may feel relieved that the situation is now passing or rejoice in what took place. 

There is a sense of excitement which may deal with many areas of life, as the aspect tightens to become exact (this is when the two planets are in exactly the same degree) 

In a natal chart, the transiting (current position) planet will always be the one moving towards the natal (position at birth) position, as the natal planet does not move from its original position at birth.  Take into consideration the planet’s positions in your natal chart.  The transiting planet making the aspect to the natal planetary placement will define the areas of life involved in the process.  As they separate, things will settle and you should have made adjustments to what took place.  The energies of the planets involved can be felt as much as 5-7 degrees approaching and will be finalized about 2-3 degrees beyond (separating) the exact degree.  The exact degree with most planets will be when the experience’s energies are at their heightened point.

OFF COURSE

We all veer off path from time to time or so it feels.  These apparent path distractions are in fact in line with what is required at that particular point in time.  You could consider these rest periods, verification of your intended course, a time to re-evaluate your current course, etc.  So in fact, varying from your intended course is in fact not only necessary but a requirement of the soul to put you on the path that is relevant at this time or to confirm that you are exactly where you need to be.

These periods may seem like setbacks.  Much depends on your attitude about what is transpiring and what you choose to do with the information that you received.  You could choose to ignore what is being presented, examine your present situation to figure out how to move forward or you could choose to make some changes or change direction completely.  Your path is always in your hands, but it is essential to recognize that whatever you do decide to do, there are no wrong turns in life.

 

There are short paths and there are long paths but all paths lead to your ultimate destination.  If you feel as though you are off path, take the time to understand why you feel the way you do and what alternate plans you could adhere to so that you get back to a place that feels more comfortable for you.  It is a natural process.  Sometimes is feels as though life gets in the way but remember we are here to live in human form.

If you feel you are off course, do not be dismayed.  Reassess where you are heading.  Make minor adjustments if you feel it is necessary and be comfortable with your journey.  Do not worry about the speed of your progress.  Take advantage of the rest periods and then set sail towards your destination with vigour and determination. 

You are never off course.  Enjoy the ride, the experience and the scenery!

TRANSITING VENUS CONJUNCT NATAL SUN

Venus, in transit, takes over one year to complete its cycle around the Sun.  It takes approximately 18 months from one retrograde period to the next and its retrograde cycle is approximately 40 days in length.  Many but not all individuals have Venus conjunct the Sun in their birth chart as it is never more than 48 degrees away from the Sun. 

Venus is a feminine planetary influence and is linked to the sense of touch, material things and love.  It has to do with kindness and politeness and has a flair for being around beautiful things.  When Venus is direct in motion, it tries to manifest harmony, peace, beauty and love.  When it is retrograde, its effects are reversed often taking on energies similar to that of Mars.  The energies of Venus when in retrograde become more aggressive and the drive may still be towards gaining material abundance although when it is attached to business activities, its influence often slows things down or even moves into reverse for a while. 

Check if Venus is in retrograde or direct motion in your birth (natal) chart.  This will define how the energies will be released when activated.

Venus when in conjunction to the Sun will only have a lasting influence of about 10 days unless it moves into retrograde and then its energies will last longer.  Much will depend on the energies of other planetary influences during the time it is aspecting your Sun and all these energies have to come into play.  This Astrologer only uses the transits of outer planets to natal Venus as the energies are often far too short to make any significant changes to our lives (with the influences of the inner planets); however the cycle will still have an impact on what takes place in your life. 

You will find that affections are increased and your sensitivities are also enhanced during these contacts.  You may desire more social time, and you will express yourself in a comfortable manner.  Venus and the Sun usually go together very well and unless there are other mitigating factors making challenging angles to this conjunction, it generally is quite favourable. 

You may feel inclined to go out and enjoy yourself.  It is quite favourable to look after your own needs during this time.  You may find relaxation in whatever you undertake and the challenging conditions in life may be swept away at least for a while.  Sometimes you will need to make things happen and other times things just seem to flow your way.  Sitting back and waiting for life to happen, however, is questionable.  Take life by the horns and have some fun.

You may run into someone that adds meaning to your life at this time.  This applies both for women and men, but Venus usually indicates the female aspect and women in general are quite fun to be with now.  Men will attract connections as will women during this cycle, although the women seem to enjoy these energies a little more than men.

Venus is also about creativity and artistic abilities.  You may find that pursuing any type of creativity will be favourable.  The energies flow well into these areas and you may find that you enjoy this part of your life more now than ever.  Starting a project might be a good idea. Ensure that you are surrounding yourself with visual complements that help you settle into things.  Beauty is important and you can create wonderful things during this short stay with the conjunction between Venus and the Sun.

TRANSITING PLUTO TRINE NATAL SUN IN TAURUS AND VIRGO

For the remainder of this year, Transiting Pluto will be in the late 16 degree and the mid 19 degree range in the sign of Capricorn.  Pluto’s orb of influence is 5 degrees approaching and two degrees separating.  Anyone with their Sun in Taurus or Sun in Virgo will be feeling the impact of Transiting Pluto in their lives.  If you have your Sun between 11 degrees to 21 degrees in either of these signs then this transit will affect you.  Those that are highly susceptible to the energies of Pluto may feel this even 10 degrees approaching as opposed to the normal 5 degrees.

Pluto often begins its influence through subtle nudges asking you to have a look at your life.  If Pluto in your chart is in the earth sign of Capricorn this could related to business, occupation, life goals and ambitions, as well as your health particularly if the Ascendant or sixth house is being influenced. 

These subtle emerging nudges are suggestive of a need to transform or regenerate areas of life.  Do you see the potential to move ahead in your career?  Do you sense that there might be business opportunities or advancements on a personal level?  Do you feel the need to get into a more healthy lifestyle by perhaps losing weight or through an exercise programs?  If so, this will be the year to take advantage of the energies that Pluto is providing.

If you are at the appropriate stage of evolution in your life, you may now be doing some reviewing and feel a push to make advancement on some level as part of your journey.  The trine stimulates this and will offer opportunities in these directions.  It will represent ease in flow, advancement of your objectives and some good fortune and luck.  This is not always the case, however.  We always have to look at the overall condition of the natal chart when deciphering what potential lies ahead, but the energy of the trine usually helps things along or pushes things forward a little more rapidly than without this influence.

You may find that you are going within and finding more confidence to move forward in your life (and the energies do seem appropriate to do just that).  You may find that if you are working for an organization that you have the opportunity to have more authority or responsibility or that you have suddenly become noticed by your superiors for all the hard work that you have been doing.  Acknowledgement is possible and your relationships with your superiors may be in a better place than they might have been in the past.  These relationships are likely to improve, which in turn will help you with your intentions.

In many cases, the physical body is likely to increase in vitality, and health may be subject to improvement, especially if you are leaning towards a more healthy way of living.  Now is the time to take great strides with your health which will have long lasting effects.  What you do now will stay with you for a long time as long as you are persistent.  You are building your body at a core level.

Make sure you take advantage of these energies.  This is the type of tool astrology is.  It provides you with upcoming potentials that you can prepare for and use to your advantage.  Without this knowledge you may not notice that the energies are pointing in any given direction until much later in the transit and you may have wasted important time that could have been utilized much earlier.

TIME FOR A REVERSAL IN OUR FOCUS

Many agree that, although not intentional, their focus has been focus on concern for the state of the world and the many difficult situations of late.  We are caught up in the news, posts and comments about North Korea, flooding and more and this has many of us on edge.

Many of us have become so wrapped up in these concerns and other circumstances that we have allowed ourselves to lose our intentional focus of possibilities and positivity to negativity and stress.

It is time to take a step back from media bombardment, to refocus and once again align ourselves.  We understand innately that focus brings with it more of the same and our interaction with what we perceive as negativity that surrounding us at this moment will just bring forth worry, stress and in time more destructive potential including disease.

This is not putting our heads in the sand.  How does our stress and worry change events?  How does our stress and worry protect us?  How does our stress and worry make us feel better about our world?  Our stress and worry only serves to rob us of today’s enjoyments....and over time robs us of so much more. 

We have to realign ourselves with our core understanding.  We have to re-focus our attention on the potential for finding a viable solution that brings forth peace and tranquility into our world.  Rather than spending countless hours daily on negative events, we need to realign with love and compassion.  If the world, as a group, can refocus its intentions through these daily practices, we can bring forth much more positive outcomes.  As long as we focus our attention on the challenges at hand, we bring to life these potentials and lose our ability to bring to fruition the potential for peace.  We deny the bounty of love to grow to the true proportion that is available. 

Can you make a concerted effort re-focus your attention as many times a day as is required so you can be part of the recovery process and not part of the destructive process? 

Know that peace can be found.  If all who are lost in worry or hate realign their focus, they would see beyond the veil of uncertainty and could formulate an action that would benefit all concerned. 

What is it we are really looking for?  There is only one way to promote peace and that is through a concentrated effort with as many people as possible so that it has a global affect.
