RETROGRADES EXPLAINED

All of the planets move around our Sun in the same direction and have their own cycle time depending on their distance from the Sun.

Retrograde motion is in fact an illusion as it appears as though the planets slow down and then move backwards.  What actually takes place is that the planet in question makes its closest approach to the earth and gives the viewer the false visual that it is moving backwards.

The planets all go into retrograde and then direct throughout their full cycles around the Sun.  The outer planets are in retrograde about 40 percent of the time (and their energetic affects are generational).

The inner planets go in retrograde for shorter periods of time.  The inner planets (Mercury, Venus and Mars) are said to be personal planets and when in retrograde are the most challenging and often require inner reflection, alignment and adjustment.  They will force us into action, and this action required is often the best approach once the planet in question has turn direct once again.

It should be noted that if you have a retrograde planet in the birth chart and when it receives an aspect from the same planet transiting in retrograde, the energies will be more intense than for someone who does not have that particular planet in retrograde in their natal chart.  It should also be said that it needs to make a direct aspect within five degrees to have a meaningful impact in our lives.  The more planets it touches by aspect the stronger the influence.

Jupiter and Saturn are in retrograde approximately one third of the time and are considered less personal and less of a challenge.  It should also be noted that when a planet is in retrograde, the normal flow of energy is disrupted and often held back or stifled.  Saturn is the exception.  Saturn’s energies are actually less restrictive and delayed in retrograde motion.  It is considered more favourable in retrograde than when it is in direct motion.

When planets are in retrograde it is a time when we need to reflect and to put our focus on decision making.  It is a time for making plans and to change our objectives or our perspective on what this retrograde cycle would be implying.  It is important to take into consideration the planet in question and its position in our chart as well as any aspects it will be making.  If it crosses a planet for example by conjunction when it turns direct once again it will move across that same position and the energies in place will once again be intensified.

There is also a period called stationary retrograde and stationary direct when, for a few days up to several days, the planet appears to be stationary or not moving at all.  It slows down and then stays at the same degree for a short period (the length of time will depend on the planet as some planets will stay in their stationary position longer than others).  When it is in this stationary position, the energies are at their strongest and will be intensely felt especially if the transiting planet in question touches a natal planet at the same time.

While in retrograde, you should resist taking action.  Know that once the planet goes direct once again, it is time to take physical action.  Pay attention to what these energies are pointing towards (planet, sign and house position) and make plans so that you can set them in motion when this retrograde period is over (except as mentioned with Saturn as its energies are less obtrusive in retrograde motion).

Understanding the workings of Astrology can certainly help detect the approach of lessons and hurdles as well as the times to take advantage of energies available or when just to relax and enjoy.  Astrology defines in great detail what energies are in play and the time frames that will be involved.

MOON SQUARE SATURN (Natal Aspect)

Those individuals that Saturn has a square aspect to the Moon in their natal chart likely have a difficult time expressing their emotions.  This is particularly true if, for instance, Mercury is also square to the Moon perhaps in conjunction with Saturn.  Those with this aspect may appear emotionally distant, cold or detached but this likely does not hold true on an internal level, especially if the Moon is in a water sign.

When we look simply at the Moon and Saturn (without any other influence), these individuals may actually be hesitant to express their emotions.  Perhaps there could be a reluctance to display emotions because they were restricted emotionally by a parent.

Quite often, those individuals with this combination had a challenge due to the resistance of emotional release from the mother, and as a result, they were not permitted or were held back from releasing their own emotions.  They may have been pushed to bury their sensitivity at a young age.  The Mother or “normally more feminine parent” may have been a strict disciplinarian and always showed strength and determination.  This parent may have wanted to pass this on to their children.  Much will depends, however, on the sign of the Moon and its house placement in the natal chart.

The Moon also is reflective of our nurturing abilities and our protective instincts towards our own children and those that we deem to be emotionally in need.  Individuals with this square would most likely have a protective urge and would keep their children within arm’s reach.  There may be a fear that their children need to be protected, and this individual would protect their children with great intensity.

There may also be challenging conditions linked to nurturing and their ideas of nurturing may be carried out with a tight fist.  There would be a necessary lesson to be learned concerning a softer touch.  These individual could be hard on their children and also hard on themselves from an emotional perspective.

Saturn can also be reflective of a demanding authoritative figure.

In personal terms, this combination can suggest an individual who is very controlled and disciplined always appearing to be in control of life’s situations and never showing their sensitivities.  Emotions may be viewed as a weakness and even when they are experiencing turmoil within, they appear restrained and measured.

Saturn is the disciplinarian but also the teacher.  Although the road to emotional expression may be hindered, the goal may be to restrain oneself in emotionally intense situations in life and in turn, learn from this approach.

Control may be a lesson in this life.  A more relaxed and slow but deliberate release of emotions may unclog the tension that this natal aspect might hold.  Letting go of fear can reduce this tension.

It is important to remember that all challenging aspects in the birth chart can be remedied if the individual is willing to put forth the work needed to overcome and learn from the aspect.  If they can do this, the energies will no longer hold them tightly on a leash.

INTEGRATED HOAX

“Are their doors in front of me that I am unable or unwilling to open?”

“What events (big and small) will I be a part of during this journey?”

“What part will I play, if any, in these events?”

“Will I be able to perform my duties and fulfill my calling?”

These are questions we hear frequently and they are echoes of self doubt or a lack of faith in the process.  These can also be reflections of someone who may be unwilling to let go and let life.

No door will remain locked if we are willing to utilize the key.  More often than not, we are the keys to these symbolic locked doors in life.  The answers we look for are not found on the other side of life’s veil.  The answers we search for are wrapped in each and every moment of living.  Realization is not some far-out idea or imagined concept that will suddenly show itself to us....one day.  As long as we are open to all possibilities, the answers are at our finger tips.  We do not have to go searching.

What we search for are not some fantastic concepts or fictional ideas.  Truth is very simple and available to us each and every day.  It is not something to be found behind a locked door.  It is not dormant and it does not need to be awakened.  It is already part of each of us, yet some may struggle and push it deep down within.  It is part of simple everyday awareness and it lives forever in the eternal moment.

We can simply allow and know that all answers are within our grasp.  Listen and we will hear.  Pay attention and we will recognize.

Accept life in its simplest form.  Do not complicate the equation.  Simply enjoy life and appreciate the glorious places it will take you.

Have no expectations.  We simply cannot imagine where that will take us.  Understand that our minds will interfere but even this interference eventually becomes recognizable and once recognized it controllable.

The integrated hoax that deceives us has us looking for something so peculiar that we feel it is too difficult to find and that it takes tremendous efforts to realize.  The simple fact is that we are already living our perfect lives.  We are looking so hard for something other than what we have that we take away from the riches that are already bestowed upon us.  We are deceived into believing that the perfect life is something that is always out of our reach and as long as we keep searching for more than the perfection we already have , these gifts will never be enjoyed.  They are lost in the search for more.

Because of our insatiable search, we never seem to find the answers to our questions.  Is this due to the fact that we have not accepted the answers which have already been provided to us?  Are we not seeing the tree because of the forest?

Live in the beautiful, perfect moment.  Life offers nothing more than this....this moment, right now!   Stop....breathe......look around you and truly see your surroundings.  See the beauty in all that is.  Feel the rush of energy that connects each and every one of us – all living things.  YOU are part of this miracle.

Can you feel the fire within?  That is living!

SATURN RETROGRADE BEGINNING APRIL 30, 2019

On April 30, 2019, Saturn begins a retrograde cycle.  The retrograde motion begins when Saturn is at its closest point to earth and it appears to slow down and remains stationary retrograde for about 3 days.  It willl remains in retrograde motion (usually moving about 7-8 degrees back) and then stations direct for about 3 days after which it starts its forward motion once more.

Saturn stays retrograde for about 140 days.  Saturn’s cycle around the Sun is approximately 29 years and when it returns to its original position in your natal Chart, this is known as the Saturn return.  During this cycle, Saturn remains retrograde for approximately 15 degrees in each sign.

Jupiter in retrograde has some similarities to the planetary energies of Saturn, which has to do with restriction and delays.  Saturn in retrograde however offers energies similar to Jupiter when Jupiter is in its forward motion.

Saturn works in a much less restrictive manner while in retrograde and because Saturn is associated with the past and to some extent past life experiences, there are those that attest that Saturn in this life is affiliated to a past life’s Karma that is brought to the surface in this life.  This characterization is connected to the Saturn in the birth chart.

When Saturn turns retrograde, while in transit, it is still unwise to initiate career changes although there is nothing wrong with contemplating future activities.  Even though Saturn in retrograde operates better than while in direct motion, the retrograde cycle of all planets is a time that we should be using to plan.  If Saturn, while in retrograde, squares the MC or the Sun, it may be wise to wait until it is out of orb of these aspects before moving ahead with any of your objectives.  You may do better when Saturn is making a sextile or trine.

It is always a good idea to have your plans in place prior to any Saturn contact while moving through the Zodiac, because Saturn does not like things undone or incomplete.  Saturn has to do with business and enterprise and with careful planning and intensive investigation and study, Saturn will provide structure and a solid foundation over time.

Saturn is the teacher and the disciplinarian, but also provides rewards for a job well done.  If Saturn makes contact to any natal planets or angles (and Saturn will move between 14 and 20 degrees Capricorn from April 30 to September 18 in 2019 during it retrograde motion), you might want to review any plans and be ready to set them in place for future action.  There will be times in the upcoming year that will be more suitable and results would pan-out in a more favourable manner.

PROGRESSED MOON CONJUNCT NATAL NEPTUNE

The Progressed Moon moves through a sign in approximately 2 ½ years and its cycled return, therefore, matches up with our Saturn return (both having a 28 to 29 year cycle).

As you can imagine, this return period can be quite eventful.  If you happen to be experiencing this return period now and the Moon is also in conjunction with your Neptune, this period can be enlightening and at the same time somewhat confusing.  It will also be a very significant time due to an often challenging lesson period linked to the Saturn return cycle.

In this post, we will focus primarily on the Progressed Moon in conjunction to Natal Neptune.  The Progressed Moon aspecting a planet or angle is often an eventful time in our lives.  Changes are often in store and family matters and deep rooted family concerns could be part of the process.  Much depends on the house that your Neptune is in within the birth chart.  Home and family are tied into the equation, if for example, Neptune is in the fourth house.  Occupation and life status might be part of the picture if, for example, your Neptune is in the tenth house or to a lesser degree especially associated with relationships matter with the seventh house.

The progressed Moon has an impact on our lives for approximately three months; one month approaching, one month direct and one month separating.  It is often used as a timing device, along with the transiting Sun, Mars and Transiting Uranus.  The strongest month will be as the Moon becomes direct, (so the middle month).

Neptune in our natal chart can be an area of confusion or an area of enlightenment; much depends on the energies in place defined by aspects and how we assimilate these energies into our lives.  Neptune can be quite mystical in its expression and insightful sometimes through visual effects or through meditation techniques.

Neptune can also be quite illusive and vague in its expression tends to make things rather unclear or life can be viewed through rose-coloured glasses.  It is wise to ask for clarification during these periods when Neptune is being transited by another planet or when Neptune is transiting another planet or angle in our chart.

If, for example, Neptune was located in the fifth house then this period could be tied into romantic liaisons and affairs.  It could also deal with your children or creative endeavors.  Changes may take place in a spiritual sense and, if for example, you are in a love affair, make sure that you are not putting that person on a pedestal or viewing them inappropriately.  Your view may be somewhat blurred and what you think is there may not be the case.

If, for example, the tenth house is involved, it may relate to your occupation or goals in life and you may not be too sure on where you are heading.  Intuition is usually strong at this time, but the mind tends to get in the way, so you will have to carefully weigh out all your options.

One thing is for sure, this will likely be an interesting time in your life and doors may open, light may come into your life and your perception may be clear and insightful or quite the contrary.  It will be important to have a look at the rest of the chart and see what it speaks of.  We always have to review the chart as well as the natal potential to get the full picture.

Let your intuition guide you through this entertaining and potentially spiritual time in your life.  Always take advantage of what life offers and be open to new energies and new experiences.

JUPITER RETROGRADE

Transiting Jupiter went retrograde on April 10, 2019, and you may have felt its energies slowing, up to a few days prior to that date.  It will remain retrograde until August 11, 2019 when it goes direct again.  At that time, its energies will flow freely once again.

If you have planets or an angle that falls between 14-24 degrees of Sagittarius, you will feel these energies more strongly than those without a planet in these degrees.

Jupiter turned “stationary” retrograde on April 10 at 24 degrees Sagittarius and will go stationary “direct” on August 11 at 14 degrees Sagittarius.  During the retrograde motion and especially when it is stationary retrograde for a few days, Jupiter’s energies are harnessed and they cannot flow with full expression.

We have noted that people do not feel as optimistic and eager to move ahead under this influence and in many cases the traditional good fortune of Jupiter is stifled until it goes direct again.

Most planets in retrograde suggest that this is a time of review and contemplation.  A time of inner reflection as physical progress is difficult.

Since Jupiter has to do with spirituality and religion and life philosophies, this will be a time for inner contemplation particularly in relation to the house position of transiting Jupiter connected in some way to spirituality and philosophy and religious inclinations.  Any planet or angle that it touches under this influence will be stifled and potentially have challenging conditions linked to it.

For example, if Venus were part of the equation then perhaps there might be some challenges linked to finances or your love life.  Feelings of sensitivity towards those you care for may not be allowed full expression or may be challenged in some way.  Once it passes, the degree of the planet in question moving direct in motion, there may be a renewed sense of happiness and the finances (in this example)may flow more freely.  Of course, other transits will also have to be calculated for a full evaluation of what might take place.

The retrograde movement usually lasts about 4 months and in August when Jupiter returns to the original position it was at on the onset of its retrograde cycle on April 10, it will be “peddle to the meddle and full steam ahead”.

If you have a planet or angle on the stationary degree, it is most influential.  Those that have nothing at these degrees (the strongest is the conjunction and then the opposition) may not feel much of the energy stifling effects while Jupiter is in retrograde.

As Jupiter goes into retrograde motion there is a sense that things are slowing down and as it approaches its direct motion again there is a sense that a path might be taken and an eagerness of what might come next.

Once direct again, the brakes are released and the engine begins to power up.  During its retrograde cycle, the normal generosity and optimistic approach that Jupiter often suggests may even stop working or at the very least, will have slowed down.  During the retrograde energies, it is time to delve deep and find optimism internally, although you may feel somewhat limited.

When Jupiter stations (appears not to be moving between the direct and retrograde motions), it will exaggerate anything that it touches within the natal chart.  You can allow about a 2-3 degree orb of influence when in relationship to a planet or angle, but again, these energies will be much stronger for those with planets between the 14 to 24 degree of Sagittarius.
