TRANSITING SATURN IN OPPOSITION NATAL VENUS

Transiting Saturn travelling through the zodiac under most conditions (depending on how it is aspected in the birth chart) can influence disharmony, challenging conditions, hardship and anxiety due to lessons that need to be learned.  As this planet transits through the houses of your chart, it can create shortages and periods with hurdles to overcome.  It is known as a challenging planet under most conditions and even trine and sextile aspects do not pass through easily when Saturn is in its transit cycle.

Venus on the other hand is favourable and often suggests favourable conditions through its transit not to mention where it is located in the birth chart.  Venus can denote financial stability and security and is often defined as the planet where love and affection can easily be expressed.  Once again, however, much will depend on the sign Venus is found in within the natal configuration.  How it is aspected will also play an important role in how it influences you and your chart. 

Venus can also speak of young women and beauty.

In general, an opposition (180 degree aspect) is considered unfavourable and in many cases this aspect involves others.  Oppositions are considered an awareness aspect and will often force you to deal with issues, although not to the extreme that a square would. 

An opposition from transiting Saturn to your natal Venus may imply financial shortages or perhaps having to work harder for you essentials.  It may challenge your income potential or present you with obstacles interfering with the flow of money.

Since Venus can also relate to love and affection as well as the social aspect of engagement with others, Saturn can cause stressful conditions in love affairs and with the show of affection.  Love and affection may be blocked in some manner and the release of these emotions many come with conditions or setbacks.  Due to the fact that we are speaking of an opposition, the difficulties, however they present themselves, may stem from others.  Saturn makes things difficult and also adds responsibility.  If this deals with a love affair, you may feel overburdened by your part in the relationship.  If this aspect is found in your chart, you may feel that the love you give is not being equally reciprocated.

Although Saturn can be thought of as a testing period and often brings with it challenging conditions, it is also known as the teacher of the Zodiac, and although its lesson’s may be difficult, what you ultimately learn during the process or after the fact may be well worth all the hard work and effort you had to do on your part. 

Saturn offers stability and security and also has lasting potential, but you will want to do your diligent work to reap these rewards.  Take no short cuts, use the tried and tested route and ask for advice from those in authority or with experience as these will give you great support and valuable information. 

Take in the energies of Saturn without reluctance and see what Saturn is trying to teach you.  Do not fight its energies as this can certainly make things even more challenging.  At the same time, understand that, as with all things, this time/lesson will pass, and you will make it through the adversity and become stronger and more educated because of the experience.

ASKING FOR DIRECTION

Where do we turn when we feel completely lost?

There are times in everyone’s life when the future “seems” hopeless, when we just can’t find the answers to our questions/issues and we feel completely at the mercy of life. 

Have you ever reach out to higher energies and asked for direction?  It is important to verbally ask for help.

We are never actually stuck or paralyzed by life, even when we feel forsaken.  There is always hope.  Do we recognize what this hope looks like?  The solutions may not be what we are hoping for but what we receive still is a solutions.

It’s important to understand that hope or refuge is accessible on many levels.  Be open, listen and then wait for the response.  Patience is a very hard lesson but it most often is the key.  We must believe that in some way life will change. 

There are those of us who live with illness, who are influence by the death of a loved one, confronted with death ourselves and feel lost and in a state of despair.  These are very harsh examples of something each and every one of use will eventually face but it is still possible to find peace while experiencing these. 

Death is not the end.  It is a transition and transitions can be trying.  I once read a quote (a cannot remember who it was from) that said something like …..Death is the turning off of the lantern but this does not leave us in the dark because the lantern is turned off since we have reach dawn. 

Forgive yourself for any issues you may be holding on to.  Life events are temporary experiences that we are never supposed to own.  Release yourself from guilt and “what if’s.

Equally important forgive those that did not live up to your expectations.   Do not carry this karma forward.  Deal with it now and transition with a clean slate.  Forgiving others is a prerequisite to finding peace, but equally important is the peace found with pardoning self of our own mistakes.

Release ourselves from our hell as this exists is the torment of our minds.  The only way to do so is to forgive ourselves and move forward in peace.

For those of us that have recently experienced death (literal death, death of a relationship, or change of circumstance in your life) be gentle and compassionate with self.   We must allow ourselves time to experience a loss, emotionally, physically and spiritually.  It is important to grieve, fully and completely.  However, it is equally important not to own the experience.  It is a temporary experience, not a place that we are meant to take up residence in.  We must experience the pain of loss to be able to overcome and adjust to this loss.   Face it head on only then can we move beyond it.

Reach out to loved ones or professionals.  It is perfectly natural to ask for assistance, to ask for advice, to ask for direction when we cannot find the answers. 

Always remember, we are never alone.  We do not have to do this alone.

SINGLETON THROUGH HEMISPHERIC EMPHASIS

On January 7, 2019, we discussed the different hemispheres and what an emphasis in those quadrants suggests. 

A singleton (through hemisphere emphasis) is defined as all of the planets being in one section of the chart so having a hemispheric emphasis with one lone planet on the opposite side.  For example, if we have an emphasis on the eastern hemisphere there would be nine planets on the eastern side of the zodiac which is around the Ascendant or through houses 10 through to the third, the tighter the planets are together, the stronger this singleton.  There would also be one single planet in the seventh house opposing this configuration (again this is our example).

The planets that are found on the eastern side are not as emphasized as they would be if all the planets were in this quadrant together.  The single planet on the opposite side has the emphasis and is extremely powerful in its expression.  The hemisphere that this single planet is found in has the emphasis and gains in strength. 

Whenever there is a singleton in a chart that particular planet and its energies play a significant role in that particular hemisphere.  The singleton, which for an example could be Saturn falling in the western hemisphere, would affect not only the house that it is in but all the houses represented by that hemisphere.  On the western hemisphere, the houses would entail the 4,5,6,7,8 and 9 and the western hemisphere is about adjusting to the needs of others.  It is the area associated with other people and this area suggests that this individual would be very attuned into satisfying the needs of those people.  They would always consider the needs of others before their own needs.

With Saturn in the position of our example, looking after the needs of others would be very important and could become a job or at least feel like a job.  They could feel responsible for others and perhaps try to discipline them in some way in the hopes of orchestrating their journey in the proper direction.  This could relate to a business type matter where they would try to assist others and help them advance in their personal life objectives.  They will be steadfast in their approach, they would be known as being reliable and would always do the best they could.  Their own needs would come second and achievement for self might not be as important as it would be for the advancement of others.

This could be relayed through the family and home environment, through love relationships and romantic partners, through the working environment, in the marriage partnership, with joint finances and insurance or alimony, and in a religious manner, through life’s philosophy or legalities and perhaps court cases. 

This need to look after other people’s requirements is not just pinpointed by the house where Saturn is located, but is spread throughout that full quadrant of the Astrology chart.

ARE WE COMPASSIONATE?

If you see someone less fortunate than you or who is struggling in life, are you respectful of their situation? 

Those less fortunate can benefit greatly from those of us blessed with abundance (whatever that abundance may be).  Even a gentle helping hand goes a very long way. 

How does it hurt to show compassion for those experiencing turmoil? 

What response would warm our hearts if it were us in their situation? 

What can you do to help?  All living things deserve love and respect.  Do we have an hour to sit and share a coffee with someone in need of a human connection? 

Those suffering physically or mentally with health issues can certainly benefit from even a short visit from those of us who can spare 5 minutes, half an hour, an hour.  

When we give through love and compassion, no matter how large or how small, we do not need a pat on the back.  Seeing the gratitude in their eyes is reward enough. 

How are you going to share your abundance, whatever that abundance might be? 

How will you respond when someone reaches out to you?  How will you respond to those you see in need that do not reaching out?

HEMISPHERE EVALUATION

The hemispheres in a horoscope are divided up in four sections.  There are:

1.  The Northern Hemisphere which includes planets which are below the horizon, or centred around the IC;

2. The Southern Hemisphere which is located above the horizon centred around the MC;

3. The Eastern Hemisphere which is centred around the Ascendant; and

4. The Western Hemisphere which is centred around the Descendant.

An emphasized Hemisphere would have the majority of planets in that particular quadrant.

Some Astrologers suggest that planets in retrograde should be considered in the opposite quadrant.  For example, if Saturn is in retrograde in the Northern Hemisphere, when calculating a Hemisphere emphasis, Saturn would be considered to be in the Southern Hemisphere.  If Mars is in retrograde motion in the Eastern Hemisphere, Mars should be considered in the Western Hemisphere in your calculation.  Of course, the planets do not actually change positions in the birth chart but when it comes to this evaluation, they are considered to be in the opposite Hemisphere. 

These Hemisphere configurations would look similar to a fan pattern, with most of the emphasis in one quadrant. 

As we delineate this Hemisphere calculation, it is important to remember that this only applies to planets.  Asteroids and nodes are not included in this calculation.

Those individuals with an emphasis around the Eastern Hemisphere or around the Ascendant are said to be concerned with their own private personal ventures.  They are said to be driven by internal needs and push ahead with their objectives.  This is not to say that they are egotistical or self-centered.  This suggests that these individuals focus their attention on advancing those things that they deem significant to themselves.  Personal advancement on some level is a priority. 

Some Astrologers have noted that there appears to be much defensiveness with people who have this emphasis.  This Hemisphere incorporates houses 1,2,3,10,11,12.  Free will and the ability to move towards their path or orientation are important to these people.  They take on some of the qualities of the first house.

Those individuals who have the emphases around the Northern Hemisphere or centered around the IC are said to be more private and introverted.  The emphasis would be with the houses 1 through 6.  These individuals are often focused on the needs of the family and the home environment, similar to a 4^th house emphasis. 

Some Astrologers have noted that there are affairs or events that have been left unresolved related to early life conditions and the need for these to be dealt with. 

The fourth/tenth house axis is related to the parents, some say that the fourth house is related to the mother or the most nurturing parent yet some say it relates to the father.  This has been a controversial issue with many Astrologers.  You will have to test it for yourself to see what fits and feels right for your practice or your chart.  This area is related to private and individual areas of life and as such can be related to internal issues.  These issues are usually kept private or some individuals choose to not deal with them at all.

Those individuals with a vast number of planets on the Western side of the chart or around the Descendant, houses from 4-9, tend to concentrate their energies on others.  They are “other-people” motivated rather than being self-motivate.  They are always considering the needs of others when it is time to take a step forward.  Direction often comes through others.  There is a great deal of giving but not very much taking.  Some of these individuals can be taken advantage of from those with stronger personalities or those that tend to prey on these types of individuals.  They are very giving but must watch for being taken advantage of.  There are similar traits to those with the seventh house prominent in their charts.

With an emphasis on the Southern Hemisphere, (the houses above the horizon), houses 7 through 12, there is a tendency to be extraverted and these individuals are drawn to social environments.  They are concerned with what is going on in the outside world and tend to gravitate towards social activities where they can mingle and be objective about what they discover in these areas of life.  There is a link to the tenth house as events in life tend to affect these individuals and their path in life. 

Some Astrologers have linked this Southern Hemisphere with being swept away by life’s conditions.  It has even been considered that these individuals could be victimized in some manner.  This could also be potentially related to the parents because of the axis point.  Again, some Astrologers differ on who the tenth house is representative of, the father or the most disciplinary or providing parent vs the mother. 

This Astrologer feels that the fourth house, being ruled by the Moon and Cancer, would be representative of the mother or nurturing parent and the tenth house, being ruled by Saturn and Capricorn, would be representative of the father or disciplinary parent.  I do note, however, that when it comes to a personal injury connected to the past (emphasis in the Northern Hemisphere) there would be a connection with the father, but on a deeper level, you have to question how the mother influenced particular life events and what was the reaction to her interjection?  So you be the judge.

NEW MOON SOLAR ECLIPSE JANUARY 5, 2018

We will be experiencing a New Moon, and partial Solar Eclipse tomorrow, January 5, 2019. 

This New Moon is at 15 degrees in the sign of Capricorn.  This solar eclipse is a partial eclipse which is mainly visible in Asia. 

Solar eclipses are said to bring to light any imbalances within the psyche and to also bring together the right and left side of the brain.  There is great awareness with this energy, and we may feel as though we can do anything under this influence.  There can be a greater potential for insight into what needs balancing in life.  Any planets within a three degree orb (some Astrologers use a wider orb) will be influenced by this New Moon Solar Eclipse, especially by conjunction or opposition.  The square is also applicable as well as the trine and sextile of course.

The New Moon’s energies are enhanced to a great extent and the beginning of anything new (look to the houses involved) is suggested at this time.  A new moon speaks of new beginnings (planting our seeds in the garden of life) and on the opposite end of the lunar cycle, the full moon speaks of the harvest of these seeds that have been nurtured. 

In the sign of Capricorn, the new moon energies could be tied to business ventures or a business association or the beginning of a new business.  Capricorn will supply the push to propel us forward although with some restraint and perhaps some concerns, which can be a good thing in the long haul.  It is not a time for rushing into things.  We will need to set the ground work and then once we are comfortable about applying the process, we can begin.  Take no short cuts and expect some delays.  There is likely to be some hurtles to overcome in the process but think of these as learning opportunities.  Do not back down because of fear of failure, and if need be, rethink what your plans might entail.

This is a busy New Moon and it makes several aspects during its influence.  The conjunction between the Sun and Moon make a close sextile to Neptune which is at 14 degrees in the sign of Pisces.  Sextiles often speak of opportunities and fortunate outcomes but we have to use these energies.  If we sit back and expect life to do the work for us, we will be sadly disappointed to realize that things will not unfold the way we had wished they would have. 

This is the time for action but realistic action.  Do not be led astray by illusionary concepts and use your visual imagination to propel yourself forward.  It is always good to visualize the final picture of what it is you are trying to do.  Neptune can add to any artistic pursuit or creative endeavour, and you can correlate the mind with the emotions to perfect the adventure.

We also have a conjunction of Saturn to this New Moon Solar Eclipse.  Saturn is at 11 degree Capricorn so it will bring clarity and help define the tried and tested rather than something obscure.  Saturn knows it will take some hard work to get things off the ground, but offers up perseverance and reliability over the duration of this influence. 

Most Astrologers believe that Solar eclipses are strong in their effect for about 6 months, but the overall effect of Solar Eclipses is equivalent in years to the time it lasts; so a three and one half hour eclipse will still be in force 3 ½ years from the time of the eclipse, if it makes close aspects within your natal chart.

We also have a conjunction to Pluto which is at 20 degrees Capricorn.  Pluto tends to create needed change although often through dramatic and deep profound avenues.  Pluto transforms all it touches.  It tears apart anything that needs revamping, puts an end to non-essential matters and asks us to dig deep for the answers we are looking for. 

As you can see, the overall influence of this New Moon Solar Eclipse can be quite profound and it will likely uncover those things that need to come to the surface and then push for a change to occur.

Enjoy the energies in place and see what you can do at this time to propel yourself in the direction of choice.  Be ready for the end of certain conditions and the beginning of something new, something valid and essential for your spiritual growth and understanding.
