How is life lately? How do you feel about it? What course of action are you contemplating? Do you find the pace of life
overwhelming? Are you finding it
difficult to stop just for a moment and enjoy?
Most of us have busy lives. Some of
us allow the pace of life to overwhelm us but no matter how much you
participate in, it does not have to be stressful.
Due to our attitude Life can sometimes feel
as though events are a burden. We are
busy and it seems next to impossible to find the time for ourselves, not even a
brief moment.
What life changing event would you not be
able to accomplish if you were to stop and experience the moment? Would it not be a recharge for mind, body and
soul to stop for even one minute to focus simply on that moment? You can sit down and enjoy a moment of rest. It feels wonderful to stop and relax our
tired muscles, but the stress will not dissipate if you do not also stop our
mind. It too can be considered a tired
muscle.
Contemplating what needs to be done next
only enhances the stress and offers no peace.
Stop for a brief moment today regardless of
where you are. Stop the mind from
thinking about what is next. Take as
long as it takes to quiet the mind and a couple moments longer if
possible. You will notice a calm that
slowly surfaces. You will be relaxed and
will shed that stress created from the rush of life.
As mentioned, it does not need to be for
long although sometimes those quiet short moments can feel much longer than
they actually are. If you allow the mind
to wander to “how will I get things done”, “I can’t stop” or “I will get
behind”, you have defeated the purpose of this exercise. Understand and know that this quiet moment
will not interfere with your day’ production.
In reality it will undoubtedly increase your ability to achieve.
You do not have to get caught up in the
rush of life and taking a few minutes whenever needed will bring about feelings
of calm and serenity, but you HAVE to “make” the time. It is a choice. When you feel overwhelmed, how will your
overall day suffer if you sit still for a moment of silence for yourself?
