PROGRESSED SUN CONJUNCT THE NATAL ASCENDANT

The Sun, whether natal or progressed, tells the story of our vitality, our energy and our ability to recuperate.  It also deals with the ego and governs the success we are able to attain in life as well as our ambitions. The Sun is also representative of the Father (or masculine parent) and other male authority figures prominent in our life.

The progressed Sun moves one degree per year and over a period of a lifetime will not move too far from its original position at birth.  It will make semi-sextile to the natal Sun at 30, semi-square at 45 and sextile at 60 and for those lucky enough to live into their 90’s, they will experience the square at age 90.  The Sun will, however, also make many aspects throughout our lifetime to other planetary placements in the Birth chart, including the Ascendant.  In order for it to reach the Ascendant, the Natal Sun will need to be within 90 degrees of the Ascendant (11th -12th house) to make any connections to this very significant place within our life time.

The effects of the Progressed Sun on our Ascendant (if this will come into effect in our chart) will cover over a three year period and the middle year is the most significant as this will be when it becomes direct or 0 degrees in separation to this placement.  This conjunction can produce both negative and challenging conditions and can also suggest positive or reinforcing life conditions that will aid us in moving forward in life, again if this aspect takes place in our progressed chart.  This is partly due to the transits that will make contact to this placement over this period of time as well.

In a positive sense if and when this conjunction occurs, there are often potential opportunities for advancement in our profession.  At times, people in authority will aid us in achieving our goals and become motivating factors in our surge forward.  In some cases, these opportunities come to the Father or more dominant parent.  In a woman’s chart, this is often a time of marriage or engagement and offers opportunities for meeting up with a suitable partner, especially if the Vertex is involved or Venus and Jupiter.

The health is usually good when the conjunction has positive aspects from transits affecting it and whatever we are trying to achieve has greater chance of success.

If, however, this conjunction is receiving negative aspects from other planets in transit, especially outer planets, the chances for success are greatly diminished or we would have to work very hard in order to achieve the same level of success that the positive aspects would provide.   Much of what transpires depends on the planet transiting the conjunction and its house placement as well as the house placement it has natally.  We can also look to the house it rules in the Natal chart to get more information as to how events may unfold and what areas of life will be involved.

There may also be difficulties in the health of the individual although we would have to look at the overall condition of the Natal Ascendant and Sun as well as any planets in the twelfth house, known as the house of ingrained health issues and confirm if they are poorly aspected.

When the progressed Sun advances towards the Ascendant, we may feel a draw to make changes to our life that would enhance our world.  Some will make changes to their appearance while some become involved in exercise routines that enhance the body.  Paying close attention to our well-being is always recommended and especially so when this conjunction is about to take hold in our life.

SHARING IN THE HEALING PROCESS

There are many different healing modalities, one of which is Reiki.  Reiki, originating in Japan, is a form of alternative medicine for stress reduction and relaxation which promotes healing.   Reiki practitioners use a technique called laying of hands or hands-on healing     through which the "life force energy" flows through the practitioner to the patient in order to promote emotional, spiritual and physical healing.

What is a parent’s first instinctual action when a child falls and hurts themselves?  Most parents place their hand over the injury or rub the injury to sooth the child.  This is a “Natural” reaction.

Reiki can be practiced either as hands-on or by long distance healing. 

The individual receiving the energy can either consciously or unconscious accept or reject the energy.  It is a Reiki practice however to obtain the receiver’s permission, if at all possible, prior to a Reiki session.  If a person is not accepting, than their wishes should be respected. 

With or without the addition of any healing modality, it is imperative to realize that our thought process influences our ability to heal or to be healed.  It is certainly common for most of us to worry about our loved ones when they are ill or have suffered from an accident.  We should reminder ourselves though that when worrying your focus is not a positive one.  Sending love is.  By focusing on the “what ifs” in a negative way, we are sending out energy of worry and concern which does not promote healing.

 

Whatever we focus on is what we are provided to any given situation.  So when we are worried about health, we ask the universe for more health concerns. 

Focusing on love and compassion, we ask for more of the same.  Picturing the body or individual in good health only attracts more of this.  If we concentrate on how good things are or how good things are becoming, the ability to heal is increased substantially. 

When focused on any illness of your loved ones, we are not suggesting that you are creating the illness disease, but you are certainly not assisting with the healing either.

Positive focus (in all of life matters) is essential for a positive outcome.   By envisioning someone as healthy and robust, even if at that moment they are not, will help the healing process. 

No matter how many healing modalities are utilized and how positive we keep our focus, each of us eventually reaches our time to complete our journey.   Our positive focus and our healing practices can, however, help make the transition a smooth and more comfortable one. 

See the positive in all that takes place in life because if we look deep enough, even during crisis, we will find it.  Release expectations as expectations can create much disappointment and stress.  Treat each other just as we would want to be treated and allow your love to touch each person you meeting.  This is your best gift to the world and to yourself.

FULL MOON DECEMBER 22

We will be experiencing the Full Moon (called the “Cold Moon”, “Wolf Moon” or the “Moon before Yule” according to “TimeandDate.com”) on December 22, 2018 at the critical 0 degree in Cancer.  This (degree) is known as a Aries degrees.  This Full Moon comes into effect at 12:50 p.m. EST tomorrow.  There is a wonderful sextile from transiting Uranus to the Moon which is accompanied by a very nice trine from transiting Uranus to the Sun.

This Full Moon is said to be a lucky one, as the need and desire for love and affection as well as nurturing moves from within to manifest externally. 

The Aries degrees are the zero degree mark of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.  They are said to be very powerful in their expression and often when connected to the MC bring notarization to the individual with this placement.  You can allow a two degree orb of influence so anyone with an MC at 28 degrees mutable to 2 degrees Cardinal will have this in their chart.  It often suggests an influence in the world or recognition in some manner for those with this connection.

Those with planetary links to this positon will be affected by this Full Moon’s positioning on a personal level. 

It is said that this positioning on a world level is promising, especially because of the Cancer placement.  There is a need for love and affection in our world and there is no doubt about that.  Let’s see what we can do as individuals to heighten this lunar expression.  The more of us focusing on this energy and the more of us that get involved, the stronger the outcome can be.

SUN IN CAPRICORN 2018-2019

The Sun moves into the earth sign of Capricorn in the late hours of December 21, 2018. 

Earth signs are usually quite practical as well as methodical and productive.  As you can imagine they would do well with occupation that require these qualities.  Capricorns are known as being stable, security minded, somewhat patient and often live grounded in the material world.  We are not suggesting that they only live and breathe making money, although it is often part of the thinking process, but they plan ahead and have patience in reaching their objectives.

They can be counted on to do a thorough job and can be skillful within the working environment.  Many Capricorn aspire to become managers as production is important to them.  Some reach out to make a name for themselves by quietly yet persistently moving up the corporate ladder.  They know it takes hard work and are also willing to wait, taking the tried and tested route.  They appreciate their superiors as long as their superiors have experience to back them, and they can work side by side with these superiors as well.

Depending on what sign the Moon is in in the natal chart, many Capricorns have difficulty showing their emotions.  This is not to say that they have no emotion.  They are as emotional as others, perhaps even more so.  They do not have a clear avenue of expression, however.  Because of this, some people think of them as being cold and emotionally distant. 

Capricorns appear to be quite reserved and steadfast in their approach.

Transiting Saturn will be in its home environment (sign of Capricorn) for all of 2019.  This indicates that anyone who has their Sun in Capricorn in most any degree (check your ephemeris for details of Saturn’s transit) will be experiencing the conjunction in place at some point throughout the upcoming year.  Because transiting Saturn is in its natural placement in the sign of Capricorn, this will be a favourable position for those with their Sun within orb of the degree while transiting Saturn is moving through the zodiac.

Saturn often asks us to demonstrate consistency and become obligated to whatever we are doing before it actually pays off.  This often deals with our profession or professional duties and some may gain recognition for their hard work from their superiors.  Those that have their own business may see a slow but steady rise in business in the upcoming time, but of course, the whole chart would have to be examined carefully to see what other influences are taking hold.

Saturn promotes positivity and some type of gain due to diligent effort and often pays off in dividends bringing structure and stability into the picture.  Hard work will, however, likely be part of the process that can lead to success.  Don’t take any shortcuts along the way if you have this conjunction in your chart.  Be diligent and also transparent with an honest approach in whatever area of life you are trying to achieve in.

The area of life will be determined by the positioning (house location) of the natal Sun and transiting Saturn, but also have a look at the position of natal Saturn in the birth chart for more information.  How Saturn is aspected will also help give a clear picture of what potential lies ahead.

WINTER SOLSTICE

We have so much going on in the next few days, we have to post our Winter Solstice a little early.  We will experience the sun entering into the sign of Capricorn on December 21 just before midnight.  We will enjoy the energies of the Cancer Full Moon on December 22 and we will celebrate Winter Solstice (Hibernal Solstice) on December 21.

Day’s light has been quickly disappearing, and December 21 will be the least amount of daylight we will experience in the northern hemisphere as the sun is currently on a very low arc in the sky. 

The great news is that the day light will start to extend and our precious morning and evening light will soon return.  The arc of the Sun’s path will heighten and the days will slowly lengthen.  As nature sleeps and the light is low, we can take advantage of this time to reflect on our journey. 

What have we achieved over the past year?  Where has our growth been plentiful and where might we be able to focus a little more, if we so choose?

This is the time to plan our intentions for when the energy and the light returns.  Mother nature always knows best.  Life is easier when we follow her example (look at the rest of nature) to rest and nurture our inner self so that when the light and warmth returns, we are ready for the return of the energy that nurtures us mentally, physically and spiritually.

Our current lesson is patience and this is one not easily learned.  Utilize the wait to look deep into the shadows of self.  We can bring light into our darkest corners and fill each corner with love and allow spirit to grow.

Is it coincidence that during Yule season (the rebirth of light), many celebrate the birth of Christ (the symbol of rebirth of salvation)?  This IS a time of celebration for many, whether it is Yule, Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanza, etc.

We have so much to celebrate.

MOON IN TRINE TO MARS

Mars in Astrology is reflective of our energy and drive.  Mars can be the driving force behind our achievements and always suggests action and push.  Mars, depending on what sign it is in within our chart, can be our motivating force.  Mars is our ambition and is considered masculine energy.  It speaks about our sexual expression and our urge to procreate.  When in transit, (current day location) Mars’ energies are being activated when ambitions are aroused and there is a need for aggressive force.  Mars is not only energetic it can be compulsive, forceful to the point of recklessness and is often part of the picture along with Uranus or Pluto when accidents occur or violence is experienced.

The Moon has to do with our emotional expression and our need to nurture others.  The sign position as well as the house position is important when defining our lunar expression. 

The house position is also important when we speak of Mars and in many cases this is where we place much of our energy.  The Moon is reflective of our mothering instincts and our emotional interaction and verbal exchange when linked to Mercury.  The Moon often speaks of the mother or more nurturing parent, while Mars may depict a young masculine figure.  The Moon is our instinctive response to our immediate environment.  It has been called our reigning need and is feminine in its expression.  The Moon’s sign and house position is our emotional expression to the world.

When the Moon and Mars are found together depending on sign and aspect, Mars will push our emotional expression in a vigorous manner.  In trine together, the Moon and Mars operate in a more pleasant manner although the energy of Mars will enhance the emotional expression.  Trines speak of easy flow and favourable outcomes, and this trine would suggest that the emotional release comes through actively. 

There may be a strong need to protect and manage any emotional conditions.  This individual would defend anyone who is in an emotionally charged situation if the situation were to get out of hand.  As the Moon is linked to the mother or nurturing parent, this parent may have been very protective of their children and would remain diligent in their efforts until a resolution was found.  This parent may, however, become aggressive in this interaction.  The nurturing parent would likely have no problems stepping in when they felt they were needed and their children could depend on them to make sure no one was hurt, especially in emotional terms.

The Moon trine Mars in the natal chart suggests that there would be little holding back concerning the emotional expression, although the Moon’s sign would be a determining factor.  Someone with a Moon in Aries trine the Mars may be much more aggressive in emotional expression and would say whatever is on their mind.  Alternatively someone with their Moon in Pisces would be much more reluctant with their emotional expression and would release in a much softer manner. 

The Moon in Capricorn may find emotional release through tried and tested behaviour, although this individual would be challenged in their emotional release, even appearing emotionally reticent.  The Moon in Scorpio would likely be much more forceful although still restrained in their emotional expression.

Mars has been known to be explosive in its energy release, especially if Mars is in Aries, Leo or Scorpio and can be hard to keep under wraps although in Scorpio it may fester before release. 

As mentioned earlier, Mars is also linked to our sex drive and once again much depends on the sign it is in; although in trine to the Moon, its release can be softer than let’s say if it was conjunct Pluto.  Mars in Aries, Taurus, Scorpio can be seductive (especially in Scorpio), aggressive and intrusive (especially in Aries) and romantic (especially in Taurus).  Mars and Venus together and also other aspects to this placement will play a significant role in determining our sexual expression. 

Mars and the Moon together by hard aspect can be challenging, but in easy aspect like the trine or sextile can work favourably together.

PROGRESSED JUPITER

Jupiter deals with fair play.  Its energies reflect moral and religious focuses.  Jupiter involves expansion, brings good luck and optimistic potentials.  It is the planet of growth in material terms as well as expansion when it comes to life circumstances and how you can relate to this from a positive perspective. 

When Jupiter makes positive aspects to other planets and points in the Zodiac, there are great opportunities for conditions to turn out favourably.

The house position occupied by progressed Jupiter tells the story of where you will find opportunities to gain knowledge. 

Jupiter also has to do with travel, courts of law and lawsuits.  In general, when Jupiter progresses through the chart, these or some of these areas of life may be highlighted, especially if Jupiter happens to be in the ninth house. 

Jupiter also governs publishing, higher education and learning through experience.

Each house cusp advances one degree per year through progression and Jupiter moves closer and closer until it finally moves into the next house in the progressed chart.  Jupiter moves slower than the progressed houses and it is important to notice where Jupiter is in the natal chart and the houses it moves through during progression.  These few houses (usually not more than three) will become areas of life that are affected by the progression of Jupiter in your personal chart.

You will also need to take into consideration any aspects that might come into play from the other progressed planets as well as transiting planets as they make contacts during Jupiter’s slow movement through your specific houses.

If Jupiter passes across your MC (Midheaven), the opportunities for growth in your professional life have great potential especially if Jupiter is well aspected. 

Look at the overall condition of Jupiter in your natal chart as this will determine how great the success will be.  A poorly aspected natal Jupiter does not promote in ways that a well aspected Jupiter does. 

If and when Jupiter passes over your MC, you may have opportunities for a promotion or may gain positive influence from people in higher positions.  Travel or relocation might be on the agenda during the year Jupiter sits directly on these angles.  I personally use an orb of 20 minutes for Jupiter as it approaches and 15 minutes when it separates for progression.

Progressed Jupiter on the ASC (ascendant) opens the door in very personal ways with less restrictions or obstacles for you on a personal level.  It might indicate a new relationship or expansion in the family.  Prosperity and good luck seem to find their way to you.  Since Jupiter has to do with law suits and legalities, when Jupiter is on the Ascendant or Midheaven, the potential for legal issues to go well are increased.

Jupiter on the DC (descendant) offers opportunities for marriage or opportunities to promote a new organization or affiliation with someone who can be of benefit to you in a business opportunity.

Jupiter on the IC suggests changes within the home or with family members usually on a positive note.  During this contact, it is a good time to buy real estate or your monetary values in these areas may increase. 

It is essential that you always take into consideration other transits and progression to review what they are indicating.  Also a reminder to review the overall condition of Jupiter is in the birth chart to get the indepth story.

THE NEED FOR PERSONAL SPACE YET CLOSENESS

The need for our own personal space and yet the need to be close is often a personal dilemma shared by many. 

We all need and want to be loved and appreciated.  We expand in the warmth of loved shared.  We also, however, need our own personal space and the ability to move in whatever direction we see fit. 

Many couples are confronted with this paradox. 

Are you being smothered in a tight and loving relationship?  Do you feel as though you are being cornered or contained because of this?  Or are you without a personal relationship and wish you were in one but at the same time like your freedom?

Being single or in an open relationship means that you can do what you want when you want without having answer to anyone but yourself.  This is preferred by some but offers insecurity and possibliy loneliness for others.

Being in a close personal relationship means sharing our lives with someone we love and never feeling alone.  However there will be days when we need our own space and the demands of our partner may be trying.

In a perfect world, we have a balance of both and it is achievable as long as there is give and take on both sides.  Finding someone who gives us space to live our life without obligations is pretty rare, yet if we truly love someone, we don’t mind giving up a little personal freedom in order to share.  Is true love not unconditional? 

It is essential that we are open and communication with our partner if we have chose to share this life with someone.   It is important to discuss our own personal needs, so that others know what we are experiencing.  Just as important, we should allow our partner to be open with us and respect what they need.  A partnership is equal give and take without keeping tabs. 

Spend a few minutes each day in quiet solitude even if only for a short walk, a quiet shower or a quiet meditation.  These little practices can provide personal space.  

On the other side of the coin, create special moments together such as a romantic dinner without the television or telephone interrupting.  Take a stroll through a park hand in hand. 

We can even take care of both needs….why not meditate together holding hands.  The mind has its personal space but the knowing of love can fill our heart. 

One thing is for certain, other people’s needs are important but so are our own; talk it out.

MERCURY CONJUNCT NEPTUNE IN THE BIRTH CHART

Mercury takes on its energies from whatever planet it touches.  It is linked to the mind and the thinking process.  When we find Mercury and Neptune tied together in the birth chart, we can automatically say that there will be a creative mind set.  This will be someone who is creative perhaps through visualization, perhaps through the written word and/or perhaps through the study of mysticism.

The mind is mystically oriented, possibly even in a religious tone, although it does not have to be religion in the traditional sense.  Neptune has a strong mystical quality to it and the imagination is inspired to learn more about what the other side looks like.  This person would most likely not be overly interested in mundane everyday activities.  There is likely a strong inclination towards understanding the unconscious and they may also be interested in dream interpretation and even magic.

TRANSITING SATURN SQUARE NATAL MERCURY

When we are experiencing a square from transiting Saturn to natal Mercury, we can expect challenges with our pattern of thinking.  Much depends on the sign position of your natal Mercury but Saturn can push us towards depression, insecurities, stubbornness, delayed reactions and pessimism toward outcomes.

Mercury rules the mind and indicates the way in which we assimilate information. 

If, for example, we have Mercury in the sign of Capricorn, our mind is structured, leaning towards material or occupational concerns.  We may be focused on our ambitions and we may be slow to react due to our mind studying the material that is at hand.  We may lean towards careful planning, with a steadfast approach, rarely wavering in our belief structure.  Much will depend on how natal Mercury is aspected by other natal positions.

If there is a square from natal Saturn to our Mercury then we would weigh things out before plotting ahead.  We may be worried about outcomes, we may be pessimistic in our approach, and our first mental reaction to life events may be one of concern and doubt.  However, because the square always pushes us to find possible solutions to our problems, we may seek out ways of understanding our mind’s reaction and focus, and work on generating more positive approaches when dealing with life’s conditions.

The energies of transiting Saturn can be quite challenging to deal with.  It slows things down, sometimes to a standstill, puts up roadblocks to our objectives and seems to create difficulties to work through.  Saturn teaches us conservatism, patience and often suggests hard work and a disciplined approach is required.  Saturn is the teacher of the Zodiac and although it does challenge life’s conditions it also makes us have to work hard if we want to find resolutions to these conditions.  Saturn will make us persevere and builds endurance and eventual strength as we deal with any obstructions.

If we check our natal chart to see which house natal Mercury is in and also which house transiting Saturn is moving through, we will have a good idea of what areas of life would be involved.  If you work hard to achieve what you are trying to accomplish and do not take any shortcuts (and you can even ask someone in an authoritative position for any suggests), the chances are you will find a resolution or develop a plan to make some of your objectives reachable.  Hard work is almost always part of the process and if you give it your all and it still does not work out, at least you will find some satisfaction in knowing that you gave it your best.  You will have learned valuable lessons to move forward from there. 

If things work out then quite often after the fact things solidify and become more structured and may likely stand the test of time.

It would be wise to work diligently towards your objectives under this influence and to expect some shortcomings and potential delays, but you can accomplish much during this influence and the rewards will be of a higher quality if you do all that is required of you.

SAGITTARIUS NEW MOON DECEMBER 7, 2018

New Moons represent new beginnings.  There is a push to forge a new path or push forward on a path we have already started.  Today, December 7, 2018 we experience the New Moon at exactly 2:21 a.m. EST.

With the New Moon is found in Sagittarius, this energy could push to new beginnings that are linked to exploration and adventure.  This could speak in terms of travel, often to faraway places.  Perhaps those with this New Moon making aspect in their birth chart are making plans on travel or perhaps as the holidays fast approaching, the plans for family and friend get-togethers are taking shape.

This New Moon in Sagittarius is at 15 degrees and as a result any planets that you have at 15 degrees in your natal chart will be energized by the New Moon.  Look particularly at planets that are in major aspect, the most powerful of these being the conjunction (0 degrees separation [at the same 15 degrees Sagittarius}).  Secondly look to the houses where the New Moon as well as the other planet or angle the Moon is making aspect to, as this will be the areas of life involved.

New Moon in Sagittarius often points towards a very wide spectrum and a desire to look at life from a positive prospective.  Being optimistic is what this New Moon suggests, in particular with spirituality, religion and in general with your own life’s philosophies.  Due to Jupiter being the ruling planet of Sagittarius, growth and opportunities can play a big part in the flavour of the story being told by the energies of the aspect(s).  Often times, this will involve family and the home environment as well as personal goals you might be setting for yourself.

Sagittarius is a happy-go-lucky sign, which brings with it a general feeling of good fortune and advancement.  Much depends, however, upon what you are planning on doing with the energy.  Once again look into the houses relevant at this time to get a clearer picture of what area of life is involved.  Sagittarius, although usually a fortunate sign, is also being squared by Mars as well as Neptune.

Squares usually indicate some tension.  Mars, in particular, has to do with aggressive urges to push ahead and can create some difficulties as it suggests that we may be aggressively pursuing our objectives which may be under potential tumultuous conditions.  Perhaps there is some type of opposition to your plans under this influence, and you will have to work your way through these difficulties.  Mars can be quite aggressive in its pursuit, so you will have to watch for opposition against you or alternately you pushing too aggressively.  As a result, some people may not like your relentless pursuit and may push back against your efforts. 

One good thing about the energies of a square aspect is that they tend to make us work through adversity.  When faced with challenging conditions we learn to work through them and overcome whatever may be in place that holds us back.  These are always valuable lessons.

The square to Neptune can make our goals illusive or our perception cloudy when it comes to pursuing these objectives.  Neptune tends to colour the imagination and puts a vail of uncertainty on things.  Neptune’s energies sometimes indicate that we are putting the situation or person on a pedestal and making things larger than what is actually there.  Once again, review your chart to see where Mars and Neptune are found as the house they are located in your specific chart will provide you with more information. 

You will find a way of working through the square energies and it is best to utilize the energies of Jupiter and the placement of Sagittarius to help unravel what stands before you. 

There is a lot of positive energy associated with this New Moon’s location in the sign of Sagittarius.  Make the energies work with you, and don’t allow yourself to become dismayed by any challenge that comes your way.

ASSISTING THOSE IN NEED

It is most certainly important to be there when someone needs help.  To be with someone in their time of need is the best support we can offer, whether that support comes in the form of a helping hand, a calming influence, a shared experience or an ear for listening.  Sometimes a few calming words can move mountains and sometimes a gentle shoulder can bring peace and reassurance.

Remember, however, we as a support person cannot make the changes happen.  We are “support”.  It is up to the individual to use their own actions to bring about a solution.  We may be able to plant the seed, but they personally have to nurture that seed and harvest its fruit. 

Yes; it is important that we show our support and assist along the way when asked.  By allowing others to make solve their own issues, they build inner strength by addressing the situation.

 

Allow others free choice and movement.  Sometimes it is hard but we have to support them with their decisions, although suggestions are valuable too if they are open to hear them. 

Walking with them lets them know we care which is empowering, but strength is built through determination, inner resolution and tackling their own personal issues.

Love them enough to let them learn from their mistakes if they do not want you assistance.
