The Fifth House in Astrology

The fifth house in Astrology deals primarily with the act of pursuing enjoyment and pleasure in life.  This can be found through many avenues of expression.  The greatest of these expressions is found in the ability to express oneself without prejudgement and with ease.  This is often released when the fifth house is activated through artistic endeavours such as dance routines or through a pursuit in music.  Acting is also connected to the fifth house, and in many cases, many well-known actors of today have strong planetary influences linked to this house.  It is the house of creativity.

The eleventh house is connected to love received and the fifth house has to do with love given.  This house is an expression of love that is given through romantic love affairs, although not linked to marriage.  Marriage is a further continuation of love and is linked to the seventh house.  The love given also can be spread through the love we have for our children and this house often speaks of our children and procreation.

Those with strong connections to the fifth house, either through planetary influences found in this house or by planets making aspects to these planets or the ruler of the fifth house cusp, will display many of these characteristics.

As defined, this house is the house of pleasure and in many cases is also associated to gambling, speculation and a willingness to take financial risks.

The fifth house basically speaks of emotional enhancement through acts of playful interaction which provides enjoyment in our lives.

Teaching abilities are also part of the fifth house foundation and anyone with a creative flair can do well in areas where you can teach others your personal expression of art.

Those with strong energies linked to this house express some Leo characteristics as well, as the fifth house is naturally ruled by the sign Leo.  For example, an individual with a Capricorn Sun with strong planetary links to the fifth house will be much more flamboyant and fun loving than the usual security minded Capricorn.  The Capricorn tendencies of working to make a name for themselves may still be prevalent, but many of their gifts would be found in areas where their self-expression can take them up that ladder of success which success is so essential to many Capricorn individuals.  The Capricorn individual with the heavy fifth house influence would not be as serious and would take chances and would be much more fun loving than the traditional Capricorn individual.

To find out more about fifth house strengths and challenges look to the planetary influences connected to your fifth house and its ruling planet.

Close Family and Friends

Have you ever sat down and thought about your acquaintances and your close family members.  What is their purpose?

You undoubtedly have come to terms with friends coming and going in your life.  What was the reason for their “being” at that particular time?  What did you learn and what was shared that made that connection important?

Long term close friends certainly play an important part in our life.  Besides comradeship and the sharing of special times, they sometimes seem to know just what to say in times of stress or during the questioning stages that we all go through.  They have been brought into our lives for specific reasons and if you look deep, you will uncover some of the answers.

Most seem to fade away for some reason and some leave us unexpectedly.  They must have served their purpose.  We gained a little insight and growth from each one of them and carry a part of who they were with us (through their influence or impact) as we continue on our journey without their physical presence.

There are the few, the very few that have a lasting quality and we share much of our lives with these individuals.  We grow together and share our experiences together.  They are the special ones; the ones that have undoubtedly linked up with us in previous incarnations.  Pay special attention to these individuals.  They have something specific to teach us and the lesson is, more often than not, found within their personality.

Our close family members also have a special role to play.  These people too have undoubtedly shares previous incarnations with us.  In several cases, we have shared lives many times with these special individuals.  I am not suggesting that these relationships are easy ones as those individuals that we do not see eye to eye with are the ones that can offer the most profound lessons in life.

It is not always under pleasant conditions that we are joined, but sometimes the hardest but most successful lessons come through these channels of learning.  We learn to adapt to these people and love them even when we have issues with them.  In most cases our loved ones are special.  We share much of our lives and could not image living without them.  Whether you relationships are easy flowing or difficult, appreciate the growth that is found through your experience with them.

Count your blessings each day.  Pay attention to your relationships with each person around you.  You might be pleasantly surprised.  After close examination, you may come to a new understanding and appreciate them in ways that you did not before.  They walk the road of life with you.  Enjoy the company.

Making that Decision

How often do we reach a fork in the road and have to deal with some challenge which through our own attitude puts us under a lot of pressure?  Many times, we neither know which way to turn nor what is actually the right thing to do.  We have to sit down and honestly reflect on the situation then come up with a viable solution that creates the least amount of strife as possible.

Many will spend countless hours deliberating how the decision will impact others, especially when there are children involved.  How will others react and what kind of emotional affect will our decisions have on others?  When there are children involved, we place great importance on their lives and their emotional stability.  It is equally important to look at how you are being affected too.  Many will put themselves last and this is commendable but not always in the best interest of those who are being impacted by the situation at hand.

You really have to be honest with yourself and figure out what you need to do.  You have to make sure you have carefully reviewed all possible alternatives and given the situation the attention it deserves.  After this, make an informed decision.  Are you truly happy?  You know you deserve to be happy?  It is okay to calculate yourself (your mental and physical health) into this equation.  How can you assist in making others happy when you are not happy yourself?  Are you creating more problems because you are not acting on life circumstances?  How are others being affected because of this situation?

Ask yourself if this situation going to change in the foreseeable future, or is there actually very little hope?  Are you committed to your decision, once you have made up your mind?  These life events can be very trying times and unfortunately no one can find a solution to your problems but you.  You have to be honest with yourself, as you truly cannot fool yourself.  Ultimately, you have to make a commitment, one way or another.  Make sure you have exhausted all avenues beforehand.  An early reaction is never a good one, unless of course there is violence or aggression involved.  Once a decision has been made, let it go and move on!

You deserve happiness and it really is okay to think about yourself especially as a parent as your wellbeing affects vulnerable people.  There are no wrong decisions!  You are meant to follow the path you choose.  Just make sure that you take your time and allow time for potential challenges to change course for sometimes they do.  Be completely open and discuss what the problem is with the individual involved.  There are times when people are so wrapped up in their own lives that they honestly are not making these people aware of the impact they are having on others.  Many good relationships have been saved simply by talking things out.

If there truly is no resolution, then it’s time for you to make a move.  Make this move without regrets or shouldering blame.  In most cases, everyone involved assists in the creation of an issue and resolutions can only be found if all parties are willing to make concessions and accept responsibility.

Life is full of stumbling blocks and challenging conditions.  When we stand up for what is right, we gain strength and resilience and come to know ourselves better.  Believe in yourself and allow life and love to enter.  You deserve all the best life can offer.

Void of Course Moon in Astrology

Void of Course Moon.....we have recently experienced this occurrence and thought it would be appropriate to explain this Astrology term.  This is a phenomenon that actually occurs quite frequently.  The Moon is the fastest known planet travelling through the Zodiac signs.  It takes the Moon two and one-half days to move from one sign to the next and during that time, it makes many aspects to all the planets in our solar system.

When the Moon reaches its furthest degree in a sign while still making a major aspect to one of the planets, (Conjunction, Sextile, Trine, Square and Opposition) it is not considered Void Of Course.  When the Moon makes its last applying aspect to one of these planets, for example it makes a conjunction to Mars at 26 degrees and 36 minutes of Aries and then does not make another aspect to any planet until it reaches Taurus.  During the time frame of no aspect, which could be a minutes or as much as a few hours, the Moon is considered Void Of Course.

During this period regardless of how short it may be, Astrology tells us that we should not make any important decisions or start new projects.  It has been noted that beginning something of importance during these periods, often produces less than desirable results.  Often things do not go as planned, and as a result, need adjustment once this lunar cycle has completed its course.  Our judgement is often not as sharp as usual and reconstruction is often a by-product of decisions made during this time period.

On rare occasions, the Void Of Course length of duration can last as long as 2-3 hours, although this is very rare.  It is suggested that during these periods, one should spend time reflecting and regrouping through acts of deliberation or meditative practice.  Once the Moon has entered the next sign, plans and events seem to move along better and one avoids possible delays and frustrations that are often accompany times of Void Of Course Moon.

In Astrology, the aspects between the Moon and any other planetary forces speak to us concerning traits and life events.  When the Moon goes Void Of Course, it is as though there is no message being sent and life and our plans for life hesitate and loose communication to our cosmic guidance.  This is not to say that nothing happens, but it seems that making plans during this time is best to be avoided and should be pursued once the Moon moves into the next sign.

Is this a myth or an Astrological phenomenon?  You be the judge.   There are sites on the internet that can provide you with specific times for these periods and their duration.  Test this phenomenon and let us know what you experienced?  You might be surprised!

In The Moment

Make plans for the future and set goals for yourself so you can reach them.  It is okay to recall memories of days gone by and reminisce.  Being in the moment, however, is where we are meant to live.  Focusing on the here and now can be difficult as many of us know.  Take a moment to realize how much time is spent worrying about the future and fretting over the past.

The future and its set plans may never materialize and the past is long gone.  Is it not sometimes better forgotten?  We have the eternal moment and living in the now is really all we have.   Planning for the future is not a bad thing to do and in most cases if you plan a goal for yourself there is a chance you might just reach it.  But living in the future and always waiting for the future to come is not how life should be lived.  You are wasting the present with maybes and what ifs.

Time passes quickly and before you become conscious of the fleeting moment, it is gone.  Living for tomorrow draws away the importance of today.  Exploring the moment and all its intricacies draws awareness.  Focusing on the now allows the opportunity for you to have the time to stop and smell the roses.  Do not wish your life away by focusing on tomorrow or take away today’s happiness by worrying about tomorrow.  Do not contemplate your life away or be stuck dwelling in the past.  Realize the moment; capture the instant and waken to the eternal now.

The Fourth House in Astrology

The fourth house, as with each of the other houses, is affected by the planetary placements within the house and the sign ruling this house.  It deals with our roots, where we come from, and our early conditioning from our parents.  Both of the parents are connected to this house, but in particular the Mother.  The tenth house is usually affiliated with our Father.

The fourth house has influence over the most personal parts of our life.  It reflects how we feel about ourselves due to conditioning from early childhood which often comes from our relationship with our parents.  Their response to our presence and the nurturing we received as children come into play in this house.  Our ability to respond to our environment in a nurturing, caring manner has a lot to do with how we were treated as children.

The fourth house, ruled naturally by the Moon, is the foundation of our emotion support system.  It either hinders our self-expression thereby making us introverted or assists us making us extroverted.  In many cases, the stronger the emphasis is on this house (defined by planetary influence) the more you become introverted, unless the planet is one which reflects characteristics which are outgoing and enthusiastic such as Venus and Jupiter and are well aspected.

The fourth house deals with real estate and property as well as the home.  In some cases, it has to do with income property and income investments in real estate.  It also deals with our heritage and family history--basically our roots and where we come from.  From our early upbringing and within the home climate, we either gain a sense of belonging where we can feel safe in our environment, or we build walls to protect our inner security.  Our home experience in the early year has a lot to do with how we react to our environment.  This is all conditioning from the aspects and planetary links found in the fourth house.

If for example you were to have Jupiter in the fourth house, your early conditioning may have been very liberal and philosophical and learning was a primary focus.  This does not necessarily suggest childhood education through grade school as that type of education is more from the third house.  This education relates to education on a broader level, where psychological reasoning may have been in the forefront and justice and honesty may have been the hallmarks of early education.  The outdoors may have played a great part in growing up and the need for expansion on many levels may still be apparent even as an adult.

If for example Saturn was in this house and was poorly aspected, there may have been childhood conditioning that was severely strict where the child was not allowed room to breathe without some type of confrontation and lectures.  There would have been restrictions and limitations within the framework of the home and these conditions could still hamper emotional expression well into adulthood.

For a personal understanding and to ascertain the significance of this house for you, you need to review the planets in the fourth house and the aspect made to these planets as well as the ruling planet of the fourth house cusp in your Natal Chart.  For example, if you have Leo on the fourth house cusp, you will have to look at aspects to the Sun, Leo’s ruling planet and aspects to it from other planets to gain more insight into early conditioning, the home environment and how it emotionally affected and may still affect you.
