THE VERTEX IN ASTROLOGY

The Vertex (also known as Destiny’s Gate) along with the Ascendant/DC, the MC/IC and the nodes are incarnational axis points in Astrology.  Much like the Nodes (also known as the dragon’s tail) have a north and south end, the Vertex has an Anti-Vertex point as well.  They are always exactly opposite one another to the exact degree, minute and second.

The Vertex is often seen as being quite positive in nature while the Anti-Vertex is said to be less fortunate.  They are known as sensitive points in the chart and often indicate destined points related to people (often relationships) coming into our life.  Some Astrologers have linked the Vertex to people that we have known from the past inevitably being brought back into our lives.  Some say that it can be someone from our past (this life or a past life) who has come back to meet up once again.

This, at first glance, often seems fated, as mentioned, but after some time, may not always unfold as we might have thought it would initially.  It is not always as blessed or welcomed in the end as we may have thought.  Is this simply a human judgement?

The Vertex, just to add a little flair to its description, often produces eventful times but sometimes passes by with little, if any, relevance, so it is best not to put too much emphasis on when it is aspected by transit or when it transits one of our natal planets. 

The energies of the Vertex can be used in any chart, including relationship charts, solar charts, progressed charts to name a few.  When found natally conjunct to a planet or angle, the Vertex has a tendency to add strength to the energies of that planet and it also adds focus to the area of life represented by the house it is in.  The Vertex is always found between the fifth and eighth houses, hence its connection to people in our lives.  When these people come into our lives, there is, as mentioned, a turning point or what seems to be a destined meeting and it will feel as though it cannot be ignore.  We have to commit to this “meeting” on some level and go through the motion until what is put in place is played out.  There is a strong need to bring things to a conclusion or a finishing point.

It is important to utilize a narrow orb when using this point in a chart reading (an orb of up to three degrees in the natal chart and less with transits or progressions). 

The Anti-Vertex has been noted to have a lesser effect and its energies are not always as fortunate in nature as the energies of the Vertex.  This is similar to the North and South Nodes.  The North Node has been compared to Jupiter, while the South Node has been compared to Saturn.  The nodes are karmic in nature while the Vertex and Anti-Vertex seem to be destiny points.  It is said that you should be careful what you wish for when the Vertex is involved because it might just come to fruition.   

More study should be conducted before we can come to a full understanding of the Vertex and Anti-Vertex in Astrology.

HEALTH, WELLNESS AND OUR LIFE’S CONDITIONING

Often our health and overall well being go hand in hand.  Any lack of emotional and mental well being often shows in our health as well.  If we stay in a more stressed or negative mental state for any prolonged length of time, our physical health will suffer because of it.  

To maintain good health, it is not only important to eat healthy foods and exercise regularly but to also surround ourselves with people who lift us up emotionally and to eliminate stress in our lives.

Some of us may have to overhaul our belief structures somewhat and make changes to where we place our focus of how we see our lives.  Some of us may have to weigh out the true value of what we feel is important in our lives such as our jobs, our relationships and even our lifestyles. 

Some of us may feel trapped by life conditions.  If we remove the fear, are we truly trapped? 

Not all health issues are life style choices.  It is believed that some of us have come into this life with tremendous challenges by spiritual choice.  Some have chronic or incurable physical conditions.  We have found in our experience, that many individuals that are here to learn from their physical limitations have a wonderful outlook on their lives and we can learn so much from them as they have much to teach.  They rarely complain about their lives. They have accepted their journey and challenges.  They light the path for many of us. 

I have heard it said time and time again from parents of children who live with mental challenges that their children have taught them so much more than they will ever be able to teach their challenged children.  This is certainly something to think about. 

Our mental attitude towards everything in life is the key to the quality of our lives.  It is not always our mental approach that defines the events or circumstances of our lives, but in general, the quality of our lives, particularly our health, runs parallel with our attitude towards our lives.  That specific piece in our lives, we have control over.  

If we are feeling unwell or anxious take a few minutes to see what you might do to help alleviate these feelings.  Make whatever changes you can, particularly in connection with your outlook or attitude.  You might be pleasantly surprised at how life seems to turn around.  You may not be able to change the circumstances but if you focus in the moment and the needs that you have within that moment, somehow life becomes easier, our focus becomes lighter and more appreciative.

TRANSITING PLUTO CONJUNCT NATAL MARS

This transit between Pluto and Mars is potentially a very potent one.  Before we continue, be sure to check if Pluto and Mars are liked in your chart and also check what other aspects are linked to Pluto and Mars in your natal chart.  This will help determine the transiting effects in your life.  Check to see which house transiting Pluto is located in as well as its natal position.  You should also check which house natal Mars is located in to determine its overall effects as well.

As mentioned, this is a powerful aspect and much depends on the information we advised that you check as this will tell the full story in your personal birth chart.  You should check closely if there are other transits affecting Mars or planetary links that closely resemble this configuration such as Pluto and Saturn or Uranus links for this will help to define the intensity of the aspect we are focusing on today. 

Pluto and Mars together often indicate a warning signal and if you also have at least two other planetary links that point in the same direction, you will have to watch for haste in action, especially dealing with motorized vehicles and machinery.  Potential dangers lie in these areas.  This is a high energy transit that must be contained or expressed in a vigorous although gentle manner.  If you do not release these inherent energies, there is potential for becoming victim to aggressive behaviour.  Do not place yourself in immediate danger and avoid arguments if possible.

If you are ready to move forward with your ambitions in life, this transit can provide you with the drive to accomplish, even in the face of adversity.  You have great potential to overcome any harsh conditions and if you harness this powerful aspect, you can succeed in many endeavours (which under normal conditions you would most likely not even think about pursuing). 

There is a lot of drive and energy linked to this transit. 

You are also able to dig beneath the surface to inner turmoil that may have been dormant in the past.  This is the time when you can bring these to the surface and deal with them appropriately.

Mars is linked to the ego and the ego drive.  Pluto can be a destructive power urge if not harnessed.  You will have to be careful in how you approach life’s endeavours during this transit.  Much opposition to your plans can arise if you handle this energy in an ego-oriented fashion.  You will, however, be able to present your case with much enthusiasm and have an ability to put your point across in a powerful and direct manner.  In some cases, nonetheless, you can become quite subversive in your approach.

Pluto tends to transform many things it touches, and you will have to take note of which house it is transiting through as well as any other planets it touches.  The house is the area of life that is transforming and any planets it touches will be affected by its transformational abilities.  Pluto can be very subtle in its actions and as time passes, you will begin to figure out how it has affected that area of life. 

You can do great things with this transit and you will notice that work which normally takes great effort to complete does not seem to require the same amount of energy to be expended.  You accomplish more with less effort and if you put effort into your plans and objectives, the odds of a favourable result or a change in conditions are strong.

As mentioned, this transit has potential for difficult conditions although unlikely unless several aspects in the chart correlate with this transit of Pluto and Mars.  Be a little more careful while under its influence, especially when transiting Pluto goes direct and aspects Mars within ten minutes.

TRANSITING NEPTUNE QUINCUNX SUN

When Neptune transits the natal chart, it is important that we see things as they are, not as we wish them to be. 

Neptune tends to colour our view and often puts a haze or veil on situations.  The saying “Seeing through rose-colored glasses” fits this situation perfectly as, under this influence, we tend to put people or life’s conditions high on a pedestal. 

This can become disheartening when the veil is lifted and we finally see things as they actually are.  Much, of course, will depend on the aspects that transiting Neptune is making to other natal planets, the planets involved and the houses they are located in within the Astrology chart.  The house Neptune is transiting through will also be of utmost importance as this is reflective of the area of life which is involved.  With today’s focus of Neptune Quincunx (150 degrees) the Sun you would also want to take into consideration the Sun’s placement by house position with our personal chart.

The Sun has to do with our life’s goals, ambitions and our ability to succeed in life.  It helps us find our path, controls our destiny, deals with our vitality and sometimes refers to the father or important masculine or dominant people in our life. 

When Neptune is in transit to our Sun by quincunx, also known as inconjunct, it often speaks of a time when we need to or should make some alterations or adjustments to our plans.  Neptune can make us a little dreamy concerning what it is we want to manifest in our life.  The quincunx aspect has also been linked to health concerns but there has to be other factors pointing in the same direction in the chart for this to have any influence.

Sometimes these adjustments are rather subtle in nature, and we do not have to do too much in order to get on track.  Other times, this is not the case.  We may have been fooling ourselves for some time. This can suggest that it is time for a reality check although at other times we can get inspirational assistance once we begin to make alterations and accept what is in front of us.  We might want to go to outside sources for further guidance on what it is we are doing or what it is we believe is happening.

Much will depend on the house transiting Neptune is moving through.  Neptune moves slowly and will spend many years in one house.  This area of life will become activated when Neptune transits other natal positions.  

We will also need to see where natal Neptune is located in the chart as this provides further information as to what areas of life are involved and how things might unfold.  The natal aspects to Neptune will also provide information that might assist with understanding what is taking place now.

If transiting Neptune makes favorable aspects to other natal positions, this can be a time of great revelation and intuitive insight.  The psychic realms can become more intriguing, and you should pursue these expressions and delve deeper to get an understanding of what this might mean for you.  Neptune is a mystical planet and offers insight into the psychic realm. 

You can allow an orb of influence of 5-7 degrees approaching and as it nears exactitude, the energies will strengthen.  The energies begin to fade as Neptune passes out of orb after being direct by 2 degrees of separation.  If Neptune moves into retrograde during this timeframe, it can have several passes over the same degree and be quite influential.  The first exact pass however, is usually the most powerful.

YOUR LIFE ACCORDING TO YOU

This is a time of awakening for many.  We each recognize that we are on a specific path of our own choosing.  We know that we create with our thoughts and focus.  We are open to understanding how the ego manipulates and its efforts to maintain a tight hold on us.  We can recognize ego’s chatter, although it can sneak in and still manipulate at times. 

Many of us have questions why we enter this life experience as the person we are.  We even ponder why we have picked this specific time in the evolution of our world and we as a people.  Why is “now” so significant to OUR evolutionary growth?

Each of us has our part in the process and development even if we do not recognize it.  This is not a statement of grandeur.  Simply, every link in a chain has its purpose.  Many have mentioned that it feels as though their specific part is only minor, yet the single contribution by each of us has a profound effect overall.

There are many times throughout life that we have to remind ourselves that we have chosen this life and each and every experience, all of its ups and downs.  Each event, somehow, leads to our development and growth. 

We must honour ourselves and live up to our own personal standards.   We must be persistent in our efforts yet accept that there will be times that we will sway as this is part of the human experience.  Swaying from what we perceive as our path is part of our journey.  We will always be able to continue on our path when we silence our minds and open our hearts. 

If we find ourselves being doubtful, we can ask, “Is this ego’s voice?” or “Will these thoughts assist me?”.  Once we have asked, quieted our mind in meditation and waited for the answer, we will always find reliability answers when we confront issues with these questions.  We must, however, quiet our minds, allow honesty and be open to the answers.

Our reality, which we are constantly creating, exists because of our focus in this moment (a formulated thought). 

Pay close attention to what it is that you are creating. 

Remind yourself of who you truly are, (a spiritual being residing in a physical body). 

You are as powerful as any other creation because you are part of the whole, a part of the Source energy.

CERES IN ASPECT

Today is our final section with our focus on Ceres.  We will look at aspects.  Previously, we looked at Ceres in general, the houses and the signs on March 13, 18 & 25, 2019.

As mentioned on March 18, when we speak of Ceres in the signs, it defines the way we might approach healing and also how we might uncover and own-up to our darker side.  If we were to take Ceres in Aries for example our way of healing would be in a very forward manner.  We might even act out our own desires to help and those that we try to assist and mother may not even want our assistance.  With Ceres in Aries it is always wise to ascertain whether or not those we are helping actually want our help.  When in this sign, we would be rather aggressive and probably feel as though we would know what is best for that person. 

We can also relate this information to ourselves and we might take an aggressive route to heal or nurture our self.  This would also apply to reaching out and finding our darker corners and then dealing appropriately or hopefully appropriately with these shadow issues.

When we speak of Ceres in the houses, which was touched on in our post on March 23, the house will provide information on where we apply our mothering nature towards others and ourselves.  For example, Ceres in the fifth house would be someone who uses love and affection to help the healing process or provide nurturing for those in need.  Remember this applies directly to how we would nurture ourselves with Ceres in the fifth house as well.  We may also work diligently on this with our children and lover with the hope that we would receive some recognition for our efforts. 

When becoming aware of our darker corners, we would approach this in a caring and nurturing manner, perhaps by being open with ourselves and allowing love to do most of the work with our fifth house example.

When we look at Ceres by aspect (and this can be through transit as well as natally), we need to look at the aspect in question and whether they are challenging ones or not.  It is also important to note which planet is making the aspect and bringing their energies into our lives. 

Transits are temporary while making aspects.  How tight the aspect is between Ceres and whatever planet or angle is involved would define how much of a challenge it is or might be or how much of an easy flow there may be and how we can use these energies appropriately throughout our lives. 

Some Astrologers have found that a separating aspect natally suggests that the issue is resolved although if the aspect is very tight there might still be still some energies yet to unfold. 

An applying aspect suggests that the problem or easy flow of the aspect is yet to be used appropriately to become a concrete means to assist one in the long haul.

There is a huge difference between a square to Saturn and a trine to Jupiter although the house position and sign position would have to be considered while defining these energies and how they might unfold.  Saturn does tend to restrict things and present us with lessons to learn while Jupiter usually suggests potential growth and expansion and good luck.  A clear understanding with respect to the rest of the chart would also have to be taken into consideration. 

Ceres’ energy is all about nurturing and being nurtured.  The way we nurture and receive nurturing is suggested by the positioning and aspects to the placement of Ceres. 

As mentioned in a previous post in our Ceres series, Ceres is yet to be analysed clearly and only time and gathered information will help the full understanding of its energies.

ENHANCED OPPORTUNITIES

We are fortunate to continually expansion of our insights and an understanding of our own true nature.  We are uncovering the secrets behind natural living and we can practice these basics daily.  

Some of us are graced with a natural recognition of these and the utilization of the potential within.  Some individuals are clearly on this path and inspire others along their way.  They are a beacon in our journey.

It IS a beautiful life no matter the strife experienced from time to time.  As we develop our understanding, we recognize that there are important lessons behind these times of strife and many of us have learned to actually welcome these lessons into our lives.  We understand that in challenging ourselves and opening up to awareness, we uncover dimensions of ourselves and of this reality that we did not previously know existed.  How fortunate are we to comprehend this?

Experiences met with resistance leaves us with an unpleasant reality. 

What a wonderful gift to be free to accept life’s events with open arms.  With this mental attitude, we are coming to understand the ego and its plight.  We can acknowledge that we are not part of ego nor is it a part us.  We have the potential of finding a life free of its influence but only through awareness can this happen.

Why are some so caught up in life’s events?  They simply are not ready to comprehend this realization but their evolutionary state knows when the time is right.  Do not judge those that do not comprehend, they are walking their own path.  They have chosen their journey and will experience what they need to experience for their own personal growth. We must accept this even when it hurts  (to stand back, watch and accept).  Who are we to judge or force our opinion on others?

We cannot heal others if we have not first taken care of our own wounds.  We can neither hurry our own personal evolution nor the personal evolution of someone else.  Patience they say is a virtue and we must certainly learn this. 

Be patient with yourself and appreciate the distance you have already travelled.

Allow peace even in the face of adversity.  Be strong particularly under these conditions.

Offer assistance to those that are ready to hear your message and your help. 

Know that you are moving in your intended direction.
