SOLAR AND LUNAR ECLIPSES

We had a solar eclipse on September 13 and will have a lunar eclipse on September 27.  The upcoming lunar eclipse falls in the sign of Aries at 4 degrees and 40 minutes.  The recent solar eclipse was in the sign of Virgo at 20 degrees and 10 minutes.  These signs are significant because their energies and characteristics are what will be expressed.

For example the recent solar eclipse in Virgo would affect the working environment, daily routines, health and diet and organization.

The Lunar eclipse is in the sign of Aries suggesting inner confrontation, seeing the perceived you - both the thought positive and negative characteristics.  It will also initiate action into our view of self and help us to push forward in making changes so that we can move ahead in our spiritual journey.  The affects will be very personal
.
It is important to understand that these eclipses will initiate action.  Many believe that free choice is not always offered, although in some cases this may not be.  We may have control over the event but we will certainly have control over how we adapt to the changes which are often pushed into action during these periods.

Eclipses often bring about unexpected change where we tend to break away from outdated or stagnant aspects of our lives.  The range of what this encompasses is very wide, but looking at what house the eclipse falls in within our natal chart (4 degrees Aries for the lunar eclipse) will provide us with information as to what area of our lives will be affected.

The timing of events to unfold will vary and can take up to six months before they are expressed in our life.  Once we understand the area of life is affected, we should not acted upon them for at least 1-2 weeks after the eclipse as this will allow the energies to settle somewhat.

Carl Jung suggested that during these events we get a glimpse of what he termed “our shadow self”.  In other words we get glimpses of both the positive and negative traits of our personality and thereby we have an opportunity to rid ourselves of any unwanted traits.  It should be pointed out, however, that these traits that we have learned to identify with are ego generated so we have to view them from a non-ownership perspective.  This period could be termed as a moments of self-realization.

As mentioned, many fear the coming of eclipses, but once again we have to come to terms that fear is also ego generated.  Once we acknowledge ourselves or learn to identify points of self, we can make adjustments so that anything we view and term as negative can be understood, accepted and then converted into something positive.  Our inner guides will assist us during these times and will help us understand our true self, which in reality is our inner or higher self.

Intuitively we know just what it is that we need.  If we learn to listen, we will hear.

This is a time of new beginnings, where flaws are revealed and a new chapter of life begins on some level of understanding, as well as possible changes taking hold in life.  Again, what no longer serves us, we need to let go of in order to assist our evolving story.  Re-evaluation of self will determine our next step to be taken.

WHO ARE WE?

In a recent post we have been speaking about ego interference in our lives and how we are not to identify with it.  ........Ego is separate from our true identity.

Let’s take this a step further....we are not our thoughts at all.  Our thoughts are fleeting and do not define us.  So who and what are we?

If we are not ego and we are not our thoughts, how do we define ourselves?  We understand that we are spiritual beings living in a temporary earthly state where we are connected to this physical body.  We, the soul, will not die as the body does when we have finished our purpose here in this life.  So then we are the entity within that is quietly listening to the busy mind and all its contemplative processes.  We are the silent knowing behind the busy mind that is simply listening to the ruckus and continuous murmur of the mind’s steady ongoing reasoning.

If we pay attention and draw our focus into the moment, we realize that there is something within that is listening.  Every now and again, we take notice of this silent awareness within.  This perfection, this energy, this being is who we truly are.  This is the spirit within and is ever present in the eternal moment.

When we focus on this inner being, we automatically are drawn into the moment and the ego is silenced.  The ego lives in the past and in the future and does not exist in the present.  Since the presence is actually all we truly are associated with, the ego does not exist all.  The mind is silenced when focused in the moment, although it will resurface at times when we recognize the quiet one within and which unfortunately again take us out of the moment.  This however is only temporary.

There is a great stillness in the moment and a conscious awareness of all that surrounds us, all that is happening in the here and now and also an understanding of our connection with this.....the oneness of everything existing in the moment.  We can call this experience whatever we want....many call this peace and tranquility.  The feeling is very comfortable and complete, so we can also call it our Source, for this awareness is associated with all these things.

Once we realize who and what Source is, we will also understand that since we are part of this eternal moment, we must also be part of Source.  We are all one.  This is the cumulative self.  This is who we are, and we are found in the perpetual moment.

FREEDOM TO BE YOURSELF...IN THE NOW

Do not allow yourself to be over-shadowed by what others want you to be.  There are individuals who are unhappy with who they are and because of this, rather than dealing with their own issues or attitudes towards themselves, they push for others to adapt to their ideas of who we should be.  What we see and dislike in others often is something we do not like within ourselves.

We should never adjust who we are to please others.  We can be whomever we want to be and live our lives surrounded by love.  No one has the right to judge this.  Before we offer an opinion on someone else, which in reality is irrelevant, we need to have a look at ourselves first.

We have the freedom to choose our character traits and follow what feels right for us in that moment.  We can learn to identify with the character traits that make us happy and content, rather than those that make us feel less than what we want to be.  Freedom of expression if offered through love is our unquestionable right and we can be ourselves anytime and anywhere.

As mentioned many times, if we do not like what we see within ourselves acknowledge it and then let it go.  In all cases, it is only ego generated.  It is our core that truly counts.  We just have to recognize this from within and then allow it to surface.  All we need for ourselves is found in the moment; by living in the perfect moment, we allows our true expression of love to flourish.

TRANSITS DEFINED PART II

We are continuing our look at transits in Astrology from our post on September 15 and how transits affect the birth chart.  As explained previously, the birth chart or natal chart is a snapshot of the heavens at the instant of birth.  Time literally freezes to create the birth chart at the moment of birth.  Once the snapshot has been taken the planets continue on their path and we refer to this continued movement as transits.

Transits are used along with progressions, (discussed at a later date) as well as the solar chart (also discussed another time) to determine potential events in the lives of those whom the transiting planets are affecting (making aspects to their natal planets).  This is how astrological forecasting is prepared.  Each planet together with the house it is in, as well as its natal position, will define potential energies and areas of life which will be affected.

It should be understood, however, that although astrology does provide timing factors and describes the area of life involved as well as potential outcomes and how things may work out, your attitude towards these events has the greatest effect on our lives.  Astrology points the way and outlines potential events and the energies at that time, but our attitude defines how it will affect us.  Astrology does not dictate although it will define events.  In the long haul, we are always the master of our own destinies.  Life may be predetermined, but we hold the key to our reactions and in understanding this, we will gain insight and strength.  These life events facilitate inner strength and an opportunity for growth.

There are aspects that depict challenging energies as well as positive energies coming into our lives.  Astrology can predict when these energies are enhanced and can prepare us for this so that we can use the energies in a positive way and make the most out of each situation.  Life works in such a way that even the harshest of conditions defined by the challenging aspects can be used to initiate growth on some level.  The more challenging the conditions, the more opportunities that are available for us to learn and grow from.

For more information and delineation into potential events coming into our lives, we can look to our Astrology chart as a tool.  Use Astrology as a tool and reference guide in preparation for coming events and is prepared when these opportunities arrive.

Astrology is an amazing tool and can be used to understand not only our overall makeup and how we naturally react to life events, but can also provide us with opportunities to understand ourselves clearer and can help to activate our innate abilities that may be waiting to be used.  These abilities in conjunction with attitude and expectations can move us in the intended direction of our overall evolution.

THE VICTORY LAP

Understanding who we truly are can be a giant step towards life’s ultimate victory lap.  A deep internal examination assists in defining who we truly are.  We are not our accomplishments, although overcoming hurdles in life serves to build out confidence and a feeling of self worth.  They assist in quietening the ego’s nagging concerning our insignificance, the “I can’t”, “I’m not smart enough”, I’m not strong enough and the list goes on.

The opinion of others on what we have done with our lives is also insignificant, as these opinions only serve to feed the ego.

Our vocation, our financial holdings, our place in community does not describe who we are.  All of these things will soon be forgotten when we pass from this earth.  Most likely, in two or three generations, no one will even know who we were.

The victory lap can be experienced once we are able to realize and acknowledge that who we are stems from within but even these are but pieces of the spiritual whole.

We have entered our current journey to broaden our experiences, and to grow from life’s events spiritually.  We are spirits experiencing a human moment.

We are not defined by our thoughts, as even these are generally ego generated.  You are not defined by our ego as ego only lives in the past or future.  In the present moment, there is silence, a place of presence and a place of knowing.  The ego cannot live in this moment.  True “being” regardless of what the moment entails is neither good nor bad; it just is.  It is the ego that defines our moments.

Every single thing in our lives was meant to be.  It is part of the experience and part of the purpose.  There are no mistakes as every step of the way in the moment of experience is perfect unto itself.  We can have moments of sadness (but this sadness is based on a past event or an anticipate event in the future).  We, as spirit, cannot be hurt.  Only the ego can be hurt.  Everything in this very moment is perfect just the way it is.

We have always been meant to live in the circle of love.  No ego to dominate or feel superior over others; no ego to cultivate hatred and war.  Living in the moment without threat or ego, we can live in peace and gratitude.  We are sacred beings living a human existence to discover and grow.  We are to live in peace with ourselves and only then can we live in peace with one another.
Peace can only be found in the moment for in the moment there is no ego.  In the moment, there are no thoughts of tomorrow, no thoughts of yesterday.  In the moment, there is only here and now.

We are human so we will have earthly goals but our greatest goal should be to reach that state of eternal awareness found only in the ever-present moment.

Live through love.  We are to share our lives.  Live in the moment and we will experience peace.  In experiencing true peace in the moment, we teach others through example that life is not a destiny but a journey traveled within the eternal moment.  Peace and tranquility are reflections of the moment regardless of the chaos that happens around us.  The moment holds no judgement and is complete within itself.

Transits Defined Part I

In continuation of our explanation on the workings of Astrology, we are going to touch on what transits are and how they affect the birth chart.  As explained previously, the birth chart or natal chart is a snapshot of the heavens at the instant of birth.  Time literally freezes to create the birth chart.  Once the snapshot has been taken the planets continue on their path and we refer to this continued movement as transits.

Again, transits are the movement of planets through the zodiac or birth chart after the instant of birth.  Each planet moves at its own speeds.  The inner planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars and Jupiter) move at a more rapidly than the outer planets (Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto).  Their cycles vary due to the gravitational pull from the Sun.  The inner planets including the Moon move rapidly and their influence through transit are important but do not hold the significance of the outer or slower moving planets unless they go into retrograde (the appearance of moving backwards).  Retrograde Planets can remain in a close aspect to another planet or angle for several weeks, sometimes even months.

As these planets continue their movement, they will create aspects to the birth chart (angles or degrees from the birth positions).  These angles are called aspects and are defined by the degree they are apart from the original birth placement of the planets.  There are many aspects but the strongest is the Conjunction (0-10 degrees apart).  The closer an aspect is to exact degree (which would be when the planet in transit sits directly upon the placement of the birth planet), the stronger its influence.

This exact aspect is also used as a timing factor when determining events along with other mitigating factors in the horoscope.  The outer planets (sometimes Jupiter especially when it turns retrograde, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) have a greater significance in the horoscope due to their slow movement.  Neptune and Pluto move about one degree per year, therefore you feel the energy of these planets for a very long period of time.  Some individuals will experience these energies for 3 years.  Some will experience the energies even longer.  Much depends on how attuned to the energies you are.

We will continue our look at transits in Astrology on September 17.
