NEW MOON JANUARY 24 2020

We will experience a New Moon today, January 24, in the sign of Aquarius at 4 degrees.  Aquarius is a fixed air sign.  Aquarius has to do with innovation and futuristic ideas that in many cases are revolutionary. 

Aquarius is an air sign so conversation and open dialogue is highly suggested under this new moon’s influence.  Being open is key because Aquarius is known to spread insight and its symbol is the water bearer, spreading the word and sharing information to the multitudes.

Aquarius can be impartial although considered quite fixed in opinions and learned knowledge, therefore during this period, getting involved with groups can be quite beneficial and much can be learned at this time as long as we remain open to new ideas and concepts. 

This certainly does not mean that we should be swept away by what others might share with us.  Take a grain of salt approach and form your own opinion but don’t become fixated to the point that you believe that your opinion is the only possible correct one.  Other people will have their own personal beliefs as well and we can all learn from one another.

The New Moon’s energies suggest that it is a time of new beginnings, a time for a fresh start or the implementation of something that we might have been contemplating for some time.  Now is the time to launch these ideas and move ahead as the energies are favourable to push ahead with our endeavours.  Perhaps this might be the time to move ahead with something considered unique and original.  Sharing common ideas and spreading the word would be favourable under these conditions. 

Much more information would be available with a view of our own personal chart of course but having a look at any planets or important angles that might fall within a few degrees and connect by conjunction, opposition, square, trine and sextile to the lunar event will supply us with information as to what energies are involved.  The house position will be the area of life involved as well as any connections and their house positions.

There is a square to the moon from transiting Uranus at this time as Uranus is located at 2 degrees Taurus.  Uranus tends to be disruptive and fosters much needed change.  Although Uranus often speaks of upheaval, when in square to this New Moon’s position, the energies are powerful and there is likely some difficulties associated with what is in place.  We will have to work our way through the intrusion in order to achieve what we are setting out to do.  Uranus is ruled by Aquarius so what needs to be altered may find a more easy way to be altered than if it were linked to one of the more outer planet.

Often times there is a new sense of direction implied by the energies of Uranus as things have become dormant and we need to move beyond what might feel comfortable even though it offers no clear direction at first.  Uranus pushes us where we need to go and will often impact our life in sudden and unexpected manners.  The change that may be uncomfortable today will turn out to be a blessing in disguise down the road, but it may take some time to see where it takes us.

Aquarius is farsighted so whatever our plans might be, these plans are likely to receive some opposition especially by those who oppose change.  Have a look at the house placement of Uranus at this time and also the natal positioning and aspects to it to get a clearer picture of what is unfolding under this influence.  Uranus is the awakener and the New Moon has to do with new beginnings.  Who knows where life will take us.  Most times we just need to hop aboard without any reservations, knowing that life always takes us to where we need to go.

CHALLENGING CONDITIONS FOSTERING GROWTH

During times that we feel stagnated, we are actually offered a perfect opportunity to review.  Once the review is complete, it is not unusual for a new growth spurt to be experienced. 

During these lulls, are you aware of the specific energies that are taking a leading role in your evolving story?  If you can feel their influence, you would realize that you have actually not stagnated.

It is at these times and during times that you face hurdles that you are learning to remain steadfast in your approach as well as to put into practice all that you have learned to date.  You may feel as though you are at the mercy of life but you are somehow gaining inner resolve, even though you do not quite understand what is taking place.

This struggle or stagnation will pass with lessons well learned (perseverance, patience, etc.) and you will again regain your momentum to continue on your voyage to understanding.  The fog clears and you regain your direction and stability once again.  Although these conditions did feel challenging, you have learned to have faith in the process.  You recall what has brought you to where you are now and recognize all the impacting events you have experienced before this time.  These experiences have their value for they have brought you to where you are today.

There is no doubt that these times can be challenging.  Stifling of ego will help to alleviate the negative feelings associated with these conditions.  You personally do not feel lost or restrained.  It is your ego that is trying to make you believe that this is how you feel.  By identifying with its influence, you falter and as a result, you sometimes can forget your path, at least temporarily.  You will regain your momentum once you understand that ego is influencing you and affecting your attitude.

Do not get caught up in this illusionary attitude.  You are far beyond that.  The ego is simply grasping for control.  Hold on to your truth and ride the wave.  It won’t last much longer. 

Remind yourself that this is a period in life that is offered up to reflection.  It is a time to reflect on where you have come from, what you have learned and to ready yourself for what is ahead.  You are to simply listen to the inner or higher voice that suggests that this is a requirement and that reflection is the key.  Enjoy the experience!  Utilize it to its fullest.

TRANSITING PLUTO IN OPPOSITION TO THE NATAL SUN

Transiting Pluto moves very slowly through the zodiac, moving a little over one degree on average per year.  This means that if you allow a 4-5 degree orb of influence when applying (approaching direct) and a 2 degree orb separating (from being direct), you could have Pluto in opposition to your Sun for as much as 3-4 years depending on its placement.  The time when Pluto is direct will be when its influence will be at its peak.

Pluto has been in the sign of Capricorn for several years and will remain in this sign until approximately 2023. 

Capricorn’s energies focus on a slow climb up the ladder of success.  It also speaks of a steady approach to life, never missing any rungs that are relevant to this climb.  Slow and steady wins the race and whether this race is of the energies of the seventh house of relationships, in the twelfth house of spirituality, or in the second house of finances for example, Pluto will have you dig up any unresolved issues that might be hindering your climb to success within these life areas.

Capricorn is not a risk taker.  It is predictable in its nature, although subtle in its actions.  It prefers to remain in the background and will apply itself at the most opportune moments when its impact will be felt the most.  It can be low key although when it speaks, people generally listen.  It is not very flexible although persistent when in pursuit of a cause.  It is comfortable in taking the long route and adheres to lessons learned along the way.  It is ambitious and will pursue a course of action with great determination stopping at nothing until it reaches its goal.

The Sun is our energy drive, our need to prove ourselves in ambitious terms.  It acts as a catalyst for success and pushes us forward.  Much depends on its natal placement and sign, and using these energies, it will push in the intended direction.  The Sun is the ego drive and the will to achieve.  It is also our inner most self.  The Sun is quite different from our ascendant sign which is our face we reveal to the world.  The Sun’s energies are tied to who we are at our core and the driving force behind this persona.  Our goal is to unite the Moon, the Sun and the Ascendant in order to be whole and also to connect with our Moon’s nodes, in relation to our objectives in life.

When transiting Pluto is in opposition to our Sun, we have to watch for becoming involved in power struggles with others—do not forget the Sun is our will.  Sometimes we may be so caught up in finding our course that we may push others in a direction that only suits us.  We will need to pay particular attention during this transit to make sure we take into consideration other peoples’ needs.  Oppositions usually involve other people.  Watch for a desire to dominate others or watch for others attempting to dominate us.  There is often a great need to prove ourselves correct and to win the argument or our position on the matter.  Being open and discussing things appropriately is the best way to move through these challenging conditions.  This is particularly true in close personal relationships, both romantic as well as business.

On the positive end of this opposition, if we pursue our goals in a forthright manner and are open to assistance and to listening to advice, this opposition can bring great rewards for hard work and persistent efforts.  Our ambitious self is amplified during this period and we will want to prove something to people in authority or even people who are our subordinates.  Watch for power struggles with people in authority as they will have the upper hand and can shut us down when they feel the opposition is too aggressive.

 We must take care of ourselves physically during this time as the amount of energies applied can be overwhelming. 

Sometimes people get run down during these times or have personal issues because of the need to win at almost any cost.  Practice patience and keep the temper under control.  Using the appropriate action will win us favours and also show our positive characteristics.  Take it slow and watch for adversity and always use the energies of any transit to further your cause and to assist others.

CLINGING TO YESTERDAY

There are many individuals who get caught up in the past.   They spend countless hours reminiscing, and they wish they could go back to that time.  They think of those times as the good old days. 

Do you realize that this particular point in time will be the good old days in twenty years from now?  Rather than looking back at what once was, take a much closer look at what is, right now! 

Look closely at what is right in front of you, in this moment and pay particular attention to what feels right.  We can be so accustomed to complaining about what we do not like or have that we ignore those things that we can be grateful for.

Time waits for no one and if we spend our lives living in the past or wishing we were there, we are no longer living as we are missing out on the eternal moment and the magnificence of what is happening now.  The moment is all we have and our attention to this is paramount. 

Do not spend another moment thinking about what was, for what was is in the past.  Do not waste your time worrying about what might come in the future for what we worry about seldom comes to fruition.  If you hold on to yesterday, you halt what potentially lies in today.  You cannot move forward without letting go of the past.  The past can include people, memories, wishes, dreams, ways of life ...anything that you tend to cling on to.

Live for today!  Experience your life by living it.  Do not squander the opportunities of today.  It is your birthright to be happy.  Believe this and allow.  Happiness can only be found in the present moment. 

Believe in your potential for happiness.  This potential lies within your focus on all that is and this serves you well.  If life feels difficult, what is the lesson to be learned?  Once you are able to figure out the lesson, you can then acknowledge it and let it go. 

Enjoy this moment. Appreciate it and all that it holds.

May you simply allow and bringing into focus a wonderful “today”.

SUN IN AQUARIUS JANUARY 20 2020

The Sun moves into the fixed, air sign of Aquarius on January 20, 2020. 

Aquarians have been known to be somewhat eccentric and original.  They know they are different but really do not mind.  They are known as futurists and some have visionary concepts that are said to be ahead of their time.  Other sun signs may have issues trying to understand some of the Aquarian’s concepts.

Aquarians are moral by nature and trustworthy although radical in their thinking process.  Much will depend, however, on the sign that Mercury is in and the house where you find the Sun in the Aquarius individual’s chart.  These placements along with the Ascendant will temper the Aquarius traits or add to their structure. 

Aquarians are humanitarian and enjoy discussing a range of progressive topics with others.  They have new ideas and their motto would be “I know” and ”Don’t fence me in or tie me down”.  They can also be somewhat radical and it may be hard to sway them although most are open to discussion. 

Many are involved in group activities and work well within these groups where they can share their ideas.  These individuals enjoy learning new material that they can pass on to those that they deem stuck in life and need a push to move ahead.  They often find it easier to talk with groups of people than to an individual.  They are lovers of mankind and sympathetic to their plight although usually not prone to emotional expression.  Much, of course, will depend on the placement of their Moon by sign and house position in their chart to get the full picture.

Their symbol is the water bearer which symbolizes the spreading of knowledge.  They truly want to push others out of complacency and help motivate them forward.  These individuals always search for logical resolutions to issues brought on by life events.  The solution that they come up with will be positive in nature and those that are advanced will help others understand that they are the only ones that actually create the problems as well as the only one that can resolve them.  This is not to say that others will not influence your life but your reaction to what is said or done and what you do with the issue is always in your hands. 

Aquarians use their intuition to advance others as they may know instinctively what others need or at the very least they think they do.

TRANSITING URANUS RETROGRADE & DIRECT

Uranus’ is a very revolutionary planet as its energies seek freedom of expression.  Uranus’ energies have a strong desire to be removed from anything that has gone stale or no longer serves a viable purpose.  Uranus’ energy acts in an unexpected manner, and we can never be totally sure how it will react under pressure. 

Under most conditions, the area of life being affect by Uranus is the house it is transiting through especially in the retrograde cycle.  There is often a feeling that something has to change or be shaken up somewhat before its actual expression is activated.  Quite often we get warnings of necessary changes in the area of life under review and then when it turns direct either we make the necessary changes or life makes things happen for us.  If we choose to do nothing then life will often take a leading role and quite often it is not overly pleasant in its expression when the energies are forced upon us.  Things can happen on the spur of the moment, suddenly, unexpectedly, without warning.  With Uranus, we can expect the unexpected.

When a planet is in retrograde, the energies related to the planet and the house(s) it is transiting are stifled or held back.  The energy is turned inward and a time for review is at hand.  It is a time to re-think things, to re-do things and in an attempt to repair things, we can prepare for when the energies are released and then move forward in the new direction of our choice.  The best time to move forward in our objectives is when the planet goes direct.  Transiting Uranus went direct recently on January 11, 2020.

Uranus suggests that this is a time for inner reflection not only with our life but on a more personal level – the level of “who we are”.  It often provides us with more freedom of expression and we just want to be who we are, or the new person that is evolving.  This is particularly so if Uranus is retrograde in our birth chart.  (Any planet that is retrograde in the birth chart becomes more powerful when it turns retrograde through transit.)

Uranus is known as the awakener and especially so when it is moving in its direct course.  What is being achieved will be dictated by the house Uranus is transiting through in our chart.  We should also have a look at the natal placement of Uranus by house and also by aspect as this will give us clues into how things might unfold.  As with all of the outer planets, Uranus will make suggestions along the way but it will often create a reaction with little or no direction from us. 

Life happens and things change.  Uranus will be the initiator behind these actions, but remember regardless of how drastic and challenging the conditions may be, Uranus always provides us with exactly what we need.  The end result is beneficial.

As Uranus goes direct, this will often be the time when these areas of life that are involved will be motivated to move towards the new, to make necessary changes but can be in disruptive ways but these disruptions will only be short lived.  Do not spend any time worrying about how things might manifest, as Uranus acts on impulse and without warning and often releases in ways that we cannot be prepared for. 

Some people fear changes.  Those who are more evolved, or open to the new, know that when the timing is ripe and change is necessary, it should be welcomed with open arms.  Uranus will take us where we need to go, so be open and listen.  We will know which avenue to take, if life does not dictate, that is.

REJUVENATE OUR FOCUS THROUGH CONCENTRATED EFFORT

In order to maintain a more positive journey, at times we will have to realign our focus.  Sometimes we get a little lost in events and forget that our concentrated focus forms our reality.  We can easily get lost and become complacent.  Unintentionally, we go into automatic pilot and become absorbed in these events.  When the lessons get tough, we can get lost in an attitude of “why me” and allow this less than ideal attitude to carry us away.  We can lose touch with the results of past lessons and get swept away.  Thank goodness something jolts us back into the moment and reminds us that our focus is actually exaggerating the lesson that we currently see as being so tough.

Remember that we are human particularly when we veer off course with our focus and gratitude.  Be gentle with yourself but the earlier we recognize our negative focuses, the faster we can re-centre ourselves and start to enjoy the ride again.  In particular, it is important to pay attention to what is significant in our lives and what bring us happiness especially during the harder lessons.  We are always capable of shifting our focus to anything that helps us to experience happiness (it is a choice) and this choice eventually helps us decide to choose calm over chaos.

The object of our focus does not have to be anything colossal.  As a matter of fact, it is usually the small simple pleasures of life that help to uplift us.   As we are well aware, focusing on negativity only brews sadness, fear and anxiety.

If we have allowed ourselves to slip back into negativity for an extended time or if this is a new concept, it can certainly take some work as we identify with these energies.  It can be difficult to even recognize in the beginning, but with constant mental reminders and a gentle but concentrated effort, it does gets much easier.  Eventually a focus on negativity will become effortlessly recognizable.  Your vibration (energy) changes as you regain your positive momentum and life will feel as though it is lifting.  It will feel much lighter and easier.  It may take some time for these effects to be noticeable as much depends on how long we have been drawn into negative drama.  Little by little, we notice the subtle changes and our lives will begin to feel and look much more promising. 

Do not give in to the challenging conditions in life.  View them simply as lessons that lead us to great growth and development. 

We can never forget our focus.  By developing a positive focus, we take control of our journey and our attitude towards it.
