RELIABILITY

What are some characteristics you like in people? 

 

Many of us look for honesty, caring, sensitivity and the list goes on.  Some things are more relevant than others but one thing that most of us want in a relationship would include reliability.  You want someone dependable, someone who stands by your side when you need them and someone who will always have your back.

 

This applies to any relationship. We want others to be reliable, but we should also recognize that others want us to mirror this attribute.  What we say and do matters, especially when it comes to matters of the heart.

 

We need truth.  When we say something or offer our advice to others they should feel as though what we present them with is honest and reliable information that can assist them, if they choose to follow our advice.

 

Also, if we make a promise, we need to keep that promise. 

 

If we make a commitment, we need to stand behind it.

 

Unfortunately, some individuals do not make themselves accountable. Who are we, if our word is worthless?

 

Think before you speak. Ensure that you can keep a promise or your word.  If it is questionable that you want or cannot follow through, then say no right from the get-go. Set your standards high and be an example to others.  Be good for your word.  Say what you mean.  Be there when you say you will. 

 

Unfortunately, many people search outside of themselves for what they need inside.  Do not look outward; look within.

 

Why do we dislike other people’s characteristics?

 

Are they a reflection of our imperfections?

 

Are they characteristics that we fear?

 

Life is deep!  Look deep within. Be true to your word. If you make a commitment, be committed. Be reliable to others but also to yourself. What is reliability?

KEEP WALKING

As you move along the road of life, don’t let anything stand in your way.  Keep walking as the Sun rises every morning and sets every evening. No matter how dark the path tonight, tomorrow will be bright. All things are temporary. 

 

We sometimes step forward blindly taking paths that are not easy to traverse.  Sometimes we have no choice, other times we do.  We can feel lost and hopeless.  We can feel tempted to avoid reality with drugs or alcohol.  Some will make permanent decisions for temporary issues.  If we can just keep stepping forward, we will make our way through. Do not give up!

 

You may find support through many different means, but the ultimate decisions are yours to make. You may wonder if you have the strength to carry on. Dig deep and find your resolve.  There is strength within that you may not know exists.  Remember, however, it does not make you weak to ask for assistance.

 

Never lose hope.  Sometimes we go through these periods to not only learn important lessons, but to recognize our inner strength.  Keep walking!

 

Remember you are spirit living a physical body, so what are you really capable of doing?  Never underestimate your abilities.  You are MUCH more than you may be giving yourself credit for.

YOUR DECISION

Ultimately, we have the final say for any decision we have to make.  Life happens, but we choose how and when we respond. We make that decision.  Even when it appears that others are influencing what decision we will have to make, we always have the final say. 

 

We cannot blame others if the direction we follow is of their suggestion. They may have influenced us, but we always make the final commitment. We may allow guilt, pressure, compassion, etc. to influence that final decision but again that “allowing” was a choice.

 

It is, therefore, imperative that we take responsibility for the choices we make. Take the time to weigh out the options. Listen to suggestions but ultimately, you choose what you feel is best.

 

Many of us believe that we cannot make a mistake.  No matter what decision we commit to, it will be the road we are meant to walk.  It may be a long and winding road compared to the straight direct route we could have taken but nonetheless the road we chose takes us to the destination we were meant to arrive at.

 

Take responsibility for your actions.  Ensure that your decisions have the best overall interest at hand.  This will manifest as it should, and you will learn to live with any decision regardless of how challenging the road ends up being.

 

You walk the road of life, interacting, changing directions but it is your road to walk. It is your decision so walk your road with gratitude and an open mind.

OUR DECISIONS

We make many decisions daily!  Even when it feels as though others are dictating our path, we always make the final choice.  We cannot blame others if the direction we choose results from someone else’s influence.  They may impact us, but we always make the final decision.

 

It is extreme important to weigh out all the pros and cons before committing ourselves to anything but once we have made our decision, we must step forward. Many of us believe that we cannot make mistakes.  No matter what decision we make, it will be the road we are meant to take.  This may be true, but it does not lessen the importance of which road we decide to follow.  There are always choices as there is a direct route and there is the long, winding route.

 

Take responsibility for your actions.  Always consider your impact on yourself and on others. Have all best interests in mind and then let go of worry.  It will manifest as it should, and you will learn to live with any decision regardless of the outcome.

 

We walk the road of life forever interacting and changing direction along the way. We make our decisions about what road we walk, so walk it with confidence and commitment.

STARTS WITH ME

This post has nothing to do with me personally; it is about you starting with you. 

 

You hold the key to your personal success story.  You are the one you can count on and the one to guide you through anything.  There is no one better equipped to handle any situation.  Even if you seek personal assistance, others plant a seed (one from a perspective you may not have considered), but it will be you that makes the decisions and takes the action to nurture that seed.  No one else controls your destiny even when it appears that way.

 

If someone has control over your decision making, it means that you have agreed to let that person take the reins.  Even if you are against what they are insisting upon, and you feel as though you have no say in the matter, it is you that has decided you have no say. 

 

If someone else rules over you then perhaps you need to make a stand or step away.  If you are afraid of that individual, perhaps you should remove yourself from their presences. Obtain assistance, if need be, to feel safe.

 

Make no mistake, you are in control. If you don’t believe this, it might be time to have a second look at what your mind is telling you and what you have decided to adhere too. 

 

If it is your mind controlling you (which it is), remind yourself that you are not a slave to your thoughts. You are the ones listening to the thoughts. Your thoughts are fickle.  They will adapt to whatever is appropriate for the moment.  Take quitting smoking for example.  Pay attention to the absurd excuses your mind will give you to make your think it is okay to just have one cigarette.

 

Be strong in whatever you want to commit to. Ignore that chatter and excuses your thoughts will throw at you. You are in control of your life if you decide to take control.  Reminder yourself, “it starts with me”!

THE BUSINESS OF ACHIEVEMENT

Building a name for yourself through your own effort can bring great feelings of achievement.  It takes time to achieve goals but the effort can also be quite rewarding.  Some individuals may get tired, impatient or expect instant success.  Quick recognition is possible, but under most conditions it takes time to prove your abilities and your staying power.  A constant effort is required and no matter what, giving up or giving is not an options when your goals are doable.

 

Maybe your goals are not business oriented or material in nature. What if you are trying to achieve something spiritual and expand your knowledge on how this life/the universe works? 

 

When it comes to the psychic or spiritual goals, what lies ahead is often an unknown path.  Preconceived notions should be left by the wayside, and we should be open to what comes. These goals are less about self and more about openness.

 

Do not be embarrassed to have spiritual or material goals in life. There is nothing amiss with wanting to advance in the material world, after all we are currently living in a physical world. Financial success has its perks. We are here to learn about the material world. A little reminder, however, there is more to this life than meets the eye.

 

Goals in life can be achieved.  Be open and flexible and give it your all.  Don’t give up. Most things in life are temporary. Once we reach our goal, we often strive for something else.  Comfort levels are also temporary as they continually change over time.  Work towards your plans whatever that plan may be. Be in the business of achievement!

COMMITMENTS

We have recently touched on the important of keeping our promises.  This topic has been brought up quite regularly of late.  So, we will continue.

 

How do you feel when someone promises something and then does not follow through with what they promised? 

 

Our own feelings and experiences help us to understand just how important it is to adhere to our commitments.  We know through experience just how it feels to be on the receiving end of this issue (or should I say “not receiving” end).

 

If you make a promise, it is imperative to stick to it.  Your word is important. If you don’t follow through, your word starts to lose its value and validity.  Don’t make a promise unless you are able to follow through. 

 

Sometimes we speak without forethought and say things without thinking about the consequences if we do not do what we promised. 

 

Most people are not in the habit of making promises they do not intend to keep. In most cases, the promise comes from the heart and is made with good intentions, but intensions are just that, not viable outcomes, just intensions. 

 

Next time you are ready to make a commitment, be sure that you can and will follow through.  A moment of contemplation can be invaluable for both you and those you are dealing with.

DECISIVE ACTION

Sometimes life just seems to happen, and we are forced to make quick decisions or act on impulse.  Other times we seem to have time to figure out an action plan but find it difficult to make up our minds on which route to take.  Our decisions can have long lasting consequences and if we make the wrong decision, then what? 

 

Sometimes we know exactly what must be done but are not sure what our first step should be and when to take it.

 

At times, it is not easy taking decisive action. Fear can freeze us in our tracks.  What if we make a mistake?

 

Making mistakes is human but are they really mistakes? 

 

Were events meant to go the way they did? 

 

If they were meant to be, then that was the best lesson for us at the time. These things we think of as mistakes usually take us exactly where we need to go.  By taking no action, we may stagnate.

 

By waiting for the perfect time, we may miss the opportunity.  What is the perfect time?

 

This is not to say that we shouldn’t take the time to plan or that we should rush into things because we may never have that chance again. There are times when the time is ripe for action and times when we need to reconsider. 

 

No matter what the situation, we cannot let fear stand in the way of progress.  Have faith in your convictions and make changes when changes are due.

 

Make your decision based on the best information available to you at the moment.  Sometimes you have to decide based on your best interests and sometimes based on being able to help someone else.  You cannot however base your decisions to be a “people pleaser”.   

 

Make your decision, be committed, and move forward with conviction.

 

Sometimes any change is better than no change at all.
