DEVELOPMENTAL DELAYS

The feeling of being at a standstill or even moving in reverse can be perplexing. We can get caught up in thinking we have regressed. We may even feel we are losing the “muscle memory” of things we have learned and this knowledge or ability has run its course and may never return. 

 

Perceived notions can hold us back and actually stop us in our tracks. We can allow our beliefs to hold us captive and stagnated.  

 

Everything in life is subject to change. There are times when change is extreme and other times, when we are provided an opportunity to review and process. The latter tend to be the more quiet times in life, so quiet that we may feel stagnated.

 

What seems like a time of inactivity is actually a time afforded to you to review, process, plan, etc. You are not at a standstill. Be sure to take advantage of the time afforded to you. You will only advance when you are ready. Moving ahead too quickly, no matter how it feels or where you think you should be at this time, is not beneficial.

 

Insight comes in many different forms, at times through experience, through reflection and at other times through different unusual channels, some of which you may not even be aware of. 

 

Be patient. All valuable lessons include patience. These are not developmental delays; they are times to reflect. You will move ahead when you are ready and no sooner.

THIS TOO WILL PASS

Nothing remains the same.  Even those individuals that life appears to flow easily and without incident experience change even if it is not evident to outsiders.  Change is guaranteed for one and all.

 

During times of uncertainty, it is important to understand that even though we may experience our own specific changes on our own, there are others that understand and have been through the same experience, no matter what the circumstances might be. Reach out to others, if not for their input, then for their support and knowing. 

 

There will be times when we feel as though there are no solutions and nowhere to turn but there is always a solution which could be as simple as a change of attitude or focus. Others can offer resourceful alternatives but ultimately, we must make the decision on how to move forward.  We are always equipped with the answers to any issue but there are times others can nurture a seed we previously forgot to nurture. 

 

The world situation is stressful to some. Uncertainty can cause anxiety and worry. It is hard to move forward when you do not know all of the circumstances of the situation. Once we realize that worry and anxiety only create more issues, we can begin to accept that life lessons are inevitable. If we are open and flexible, we will learn these lessons with more ease. Acceptance (that they are happening) is often a solution to these situations, and although nothing changes, our attitude begins to shift, and the weight is not as heavy.  

 

Our focus is what is important. If we focus on being a victim, we will remain a victim.  If we focus on being a survivor, we survive and move forward.  There is a common resolution to all problems and that is our attitude towards what is taking place.

 

We have the necessary tools to conquer all anxiety and fear, but we cannot use that tool until we recognize it is there. Change your pattern of thinking. This situation is NOT insurmountable. We will learn from lessons and this too will pass. Be aware of your focus and attitude. You have the ability to overcome and always have had it.

What you do currently is always in your hands. Through action, you will discover what you are capable of doing or what may be holding you back.  You will come to terms with the challenging impacts of advancing and then decide if you should let go of this goal or if you should fight to move forward with your objectives if there are obstacles in your way.

 

Strength comes from within. We all have great capabilities, likely more than we believe we have.  We (with our attitudes) are the ones who hold ourselves back, and when it appears that others are playing a part in this (which at times they can be) we are still hold the power to decide if we allow them to persuade us to back down.

 

The discovery part is to recognize your inner desires, your inner resolve and/or your inner reservations. This is a lesson of self-discovery.  What you do from this day forward determines your progress.  If you listen to the defeating inner voice, you will be defeated. If you listen to the determined inner voice, you are determined. There is always a choice to be made and the only one making that decision is you! 

 

Have courage and strength to follow your dreams. Allow yourself to stifle the mind’s chatter and become closer to the real you, the inner you. 

 

If you don’t like the response your get when you turn inward, you haven’t connected with the real you. You have only listened to that chattering mind. 

 

Strength and growth come from life’s experience. Do not be afraid of failure.  There is no such thing; failure, if seen clearly, is actually a lesson providing valuable information. It is now your choice to stand up and take another step forward. The more challenging the lesson, the greater the potential.

 

Discover and embrace your strengths and potential. Push forward. Experience Life.  This is yours to discover.

A NEW START

Even with a new start we carry forward many different facets of our previous life.  You may decide that you want to leave everything behind, but memories, for instance, stay with us. In some cases, memories can bring a sense of comfort and relief, and in other cases, memories can be a source of pain and anxiety. 

 

What do you want to hang on to and what do you want to leave behind?

 

What does your new start entail and what will it bring? 

 

Some of us fear change while others relish change.  Fear is a result of the unknown and expectations and in most cases, what we worry about never surfaces. 

 

Perhaps, it’s best not to be overly concerned about what lies ahead (our destination) and focus on the journey itself.  Anticipation, fear and anxiety are not the ideal travel partners.

 

When we start a new journey, that new journey is required or we wouldn’t have taken the first step to begin it. This may not always be evident to everyone but that is how life works.  We move along at our own speed and people, life lessons, experiences, etc. come and go as they are needed.

 

A new start can bring opportunities for growth or advancement and put you in line for unexpected events that will bring you much joy, excitement and growth. 

 

If we feel it is time for a new journey, it IS time! Allow for growth even if it is uncomfortable. See and experience what life wants to teach us. 

 

The beauty of the unknown awaits. Plan a new start and allow life to be an interesting adventure. There’s beauty at every turn and insight along every path. Forget the destination and celebrate your journey.
