TRANSITS FOR SUN IN CANCER 2025

Currently, and in the near future, there are several of the outer planets moving into new signs.  Pluto is already in the sign of Aquarius.  Neptune will be moving into the sign Aries, as is Saturn.  Uranus will move into the sign of Gemini in July and then return into Taurus in November of 2025.  Uranus stays in Taurus from November 2025 until the end of April 2026.  As a result, those individuals with their Natal Sun in the early degrees of Cancer will have all these outer planets making aspects to their Sun.

 

We will touch on the transits of Neptune moving into Aries as well as Saturn moving into the same sign forming a tight Conjunction, at times, into March, 2026. 

 

Neptune, a mystical planet, and Saturn, a practical and down-to-earth energy planet, will have a profound influence on those with the Sun in the early degrees of Cancer.  The energies of these two planets are extreme opposites and may create some confusion for those individuals they influence. The house placements will determine the areas of life affected by these two powerful planetary links.

 

Some Cancerians may have a hard time defining themselves under these influences.  The Cancerian’s goals and their path ahead may venture into directions that may be uncomfortable. Some Sun in Cancer individuals may question if the paths are tangible and question where they may lead. There can be a dilemma between what is real and what is wishful thinking or imaginary. 

 

Be sure to confirm what you are envisioning is real and workable.  This may have to do with goals, in some cases your career goals, and it may also have to do with relationships.  The houses involved will clarify the area of life.

 

The aspect between Saturn/Neptune and the Sun in Cancer is a square (90° aspect) which is known to produce challenging situations.  There are often hurtles to overcome, and it may feel as though there are obstacles in the way of progress, time delays, and the path ahead can be quite tedious with struggles and extra work.  The Square aspect, however, has a need for clarity, to remove the obstacles hindering advancement so that eventually, insight and knowledge are obtained.  It will take hard work, diligent effort and sustained organized input on your part to resolve any issues that might crop up during this connection but in the long term, you will benefit.

SUN IN CANCER

On June 21, 2025, the Sun moves from the mutable air sign of Gemini, into the cardinal water sign of Cancer.  There is a vast difference between the sign Gemini and the sign Cancer.  Those born on the cusp of Cancer and Gemini will also have some tendencies related to the sign Gemini.  Some Astrologers give an orb of 16° for the Sun. For example, anyone born with a 3° Sun in Cancer will also have the influence of Gemini. There would be an 11° influence of Cancer and a 5° influence of Gemini in this example. 

 

A further example, if someone was born with their Sun in the 27° Cancer, they would also have a 5° influence from Leo.  This Astrologer also gives a small orb of influence for the rising sign, but only about 1 to 1 ½° of an orb of influence.

 

Looking at Cancer without cusping influences, those individual with their Sun in the Sign of Cancer are highly emotional, although they tend to try to keep their emotional nature under their protective shell. They may try to avoid stressing emotional interaction as it can be detrimental to their well-being. 

 

Cancerians are proud of their heritage, have a strong need to take care of others and family comes first. 

 

Cancer individuals instinctively feel vibrational energy around them and pick up on other people’s emotions and can be influenced by these energies.  This suggests a degree of intuitiveness and a clairvoyance ability for those that decide to allow these abilities.  Sensitivity and intuition run hand in hand and can open the door to the psychic realm.

Many Cancer individuals enjoy tradition, and some are not comfortable with change.  They like surroundings that they are accustomed to, most enjoy nature, but also enjoy comfort.  This is not to say that their surroundings must be plush or expensive, but just that they need to be comfortable, whatever that may mean to the Sun in Cancer individual.

 

Many Cancerians have great memories, and some cling to the past.  Letting go of challenging situations that cause physical or emotional hurt in some way may be difficult for a typical Cancerian.  They have trouble forgetting injustice or hurtful dialogue.  They feel everything deeply, and they are very receptive. As a result, they need people that are gentle, caring, sensitive but strong around them.  This does not suggest that Cancer individuals are weak as they defend the underdog and family with vigor.

NEW MOON IN CANCER, 2024

On July 5, 2024, we will be experiencing a New Moon in the sign of Cancer at 14°.  This New Moon will impact those with planets or angles in their natal chart that fall withing 3-5° of this New Moon’s placement either by conjunction or opposition and to a lesser degree the Square, the Trine and the Sextile. The three latter aspects should be giving a tighter orb range.

 

This will be a time for nurturing and looking after those that you are close to.  This will include your children, parents, close friends and spouse.  Your emotions run high under this influence, and you are sensitive to any emotional hurt or mental anguish that might be experienced by any of these people. 

 

If you find that all is good with these individuals, then perhaps you are the one in need.  Perhaps someone has hurt you emotionally, and you are going through a hard time recovering from what has taken place.

 

If this is the case, sometimes we just need to let go and move forward, leaving the past behind and letting go of the hurt.  This can be difficult depending on how severe the incident might have been, but we all have the ability to recover from severe incidences in our lives.  If this pertains to one of your children, you will have to ascertain what is best under the circumstances, and of course their age, as you must deal with everyone on a different level.

 

The sign of Cancer can sometimes be related to issues from the past that may not have been dealt with accordingly.  Perhaps you need to clear up the residue of emotions or events from earlier times because you never fully dealt with them at that time.  The memory may be restored and suddenly you now recall what took place in a much clearer manner. Now might be the time to deal with this matter not only from an emotional perspective but rationally and with compassion at the same time.

 

This may also involve one of your parents and perhaps the time has come to think in terms of their health and welfare.  Perhaps they are of the age where you might want to look after them or they may need to investigate a retirement or senior’s home. 

 

The New Moon in Cancer, 2024 is a time when the senses are activated, and the intuitive side of life seems to come to the surface.  Channels may open for you and your insight may increase; much depends on the openness you have in these areas.

 

The New Moon’s energies have some type of focus on the beginning process, the time to plant seeds in the garden of life. As a result, it will be interesting to see where things travel as we nurture, progress and reach our culmination or harvest point in about six months’ time when the Full Moon is in the sign of Cancer.

CANCER MINI FORECAST FOR 2024

Here is our Cancer mini forecast for 2024. See our post on Sun in Cancer here.

 

We will have a look at the Sun in the sign of Cancer and the effects that Neptune and Saturn might have on those affected by these placements.  Allowing an orb of up to 7° (and there will be individuals feeling the effects of this energy before this orb), we see that Transiting Saturn will move into retrograde on the June 28 and Transiting Neptune, already in its retrograde cycle, will move back into the sign of Capricorn early in September, 2024.

 

Transiting Saturn will be moving from 19° down to 12° in Pisces and stay within this range until early 2025.  Neptune is in the final degrees of Pisces moving into Aries at the end of March 2025.  By reviewing these degrees, you can see if your Sun will make a trine to these planets.

 

Saturn and Neptune carry very different energies.  Saturn has to do with focus on reality, with our feet firmly planted on the ground. It is practical and has to do with responsibility and the building of structure. 

 

Neptune, on the other hand, has to do with the spiritual realm, artistic abilities and those things that are deemed supernatural.  It also has to do with the escape of reality, illusions and vagueness.

 

The trine of Cancer Sun with Neptune can create a magical energy of spiritualization and the door opening to the psychic realm.  The creative potential can also be heightened, and Sun in Cancer may be able to visualize possibilities that to others may seem rather illusive.  Sun in Cancer’s goals may be tied to understanding what it is to be attuned to other dimensions of reality and the unseen.  It will be up to Cancerian to follow a train of thought that promotes such activity. 

 

On the other hand, Neptune and the Sun can make Sun in Cancer’s vision of the future and its life’s plans rather misleading or unrealized.  They might have trouble finding their way forward in life and may not be sure which road to take. Cancerians may be concerned that mistakes will be made along the way. 

 

Saturn, while in its retrograde cycle, works much more favorably than it does when direct.  This may be a time of stabilization and concrete results based on what Sun in Cancer individuals have in mind and where they want to go.  Their goals, although challenged, may be workable and they can reach higher than expected.  Cancerians may experience a stabilization period where they are in touch with what they want for themselves and achieve what they set out to achieve. 

 

With Saturn, this period can produce rewards for hard work and disciplined efforts, although Cancerians may find that they have more responsibility than they might want. This may result due to the Cancerian’s superiors being attuned to what the Cancerian has been putting in place over the long haul. 

 

Much will depend on how these planets are aspected in the natal chart alone with the aspects they make to the Cancer Sun. In general, the trine is a positive aspect and will promote easy flow and favourable conditions as time passes.

SUN IN CANCER 2024

The Sun moves from the Mutable, Air sign of Gemini into the Cardinal, Water sign of Cancer on June 20, 2024.  This is a huge transitional position when you think of the personalities involved.  Gemini is inquisitive and thinking and very much into communication, while Cancer is emotional, sensitive and very much into feeling.  The senses are open and operating at full capacity when we speak of the sign Cancer.

 

Those individuals that are born on the cusp of Cancer and Gemini will share some of each sign’s character traits; while the deeper we go into the sign of Cancer, the more the qualities of Cancer become apparent. 

 

The Sun has an orb of influence of 16°.  There will be individuals that have other indicators within the framework of their chart that puts emphasis on different signs and the Cancer traits may not shine through (as with any sign).  Much depends on the overall picture of the natal or birth chart. 

 

An example, someone who has their Sun in the very early degrees of Cancer (therefore having some Gemini traits) may also have Mercury and Venus in Gemini and the rising sign of Gemini. All of these planets in Gemini emphasize the Geminian traits but being in the first house (with Gemini rising) ignites Aries tendencies as well because the first house is naturally ruled by Aries.

 

Those with their Sun in Cancer, the rising sign of Cancer or an emphasis of the fourth house will share some of these traits that we are about to discuss.  The Sun sign is always tied to who we are on an internal level, the rising sign is the way we represent ourselves especially when we first meet people, and the fourth house will have some traits similar to Cancer’s and much will depend on the planets found in this house as to how these energies and traits play out.

 

Cancer is a sensitive sign, emotionally driven and has strong nurturing tendencies.  Family and the family of friends are important factors in their lives.  Cancer individuals would likely consider themselves homebodies and their home environment needs to be peaceful and comfortable as this is where they can recharge their emotional batteries.  They are often quite affected by their surrounding and some take on the energies of others, so they need a place where they can unleash and rewind.

 

Cancerians can be action oriented and restless under the right conditions but also prefer to sit in comfort and watch TV or settle into gentle conversation with those that matter.  Their children and often their parents play an important part in their lives. Being a mothering type, Cancerians would like to help where they can.  They feel deeply and have a hard time keeping emotion inside although their symbol, the crab, can put up defense by going within the protective shell.  They are more sensitive than they would like to admit.  Some see their emotions as a vulnerability and do their best to show strength by hiding their emotions somewhat, but this can also be quite difficult.  Emotion is a virtue not a vice.  As much as they need to nurture, they also need nurturing themselves.

 

Heritage and the past are important to a typical Cancerian and their memory is usually quite factual as they remember more than most.  They are also very much into cooking, at least most of them, and they can be quite the master chef.  Some are also into antiques and have a close tie with the past. 

 

When emotionally hurt, Cancerians don’t forget.  Hurt runs deep and although they try to hide it, they hold on for far too long.  It is not that they can’t forgive but emotional hurt takes a long time to heal.

 

Many Cancerians are kind, gentle individuals that will do almost anything for you.  They are a friend that you can rely on, but stand on the wrong side of their temperament and you may not remain a friend for too long.  As they mature into themselves, they often learn to curb their emotion or at least try to accomplish this.

 

Cancer individuals should recognize that their emotional response is a strength and not a hinderance.

DECEMBER 2023 CANCER FULL MOON

The Full Moon on December 26, 2023, is in the sign of Cancer at 4°. Anyone with a planet or angle conjunct, in opposition or square to this position will be noticeably influenced by the energies of this placement. 

 

This Full Moon is the culmination phase or final stages of what began some six months earlier when the New Moon was in Cancer.  The Full Moon phase is a time of reaping the rewards for our hard work and diligent efforts, or it is a time of letting go of unfinished business or of issues that are no longer suitable for you.  This can involve a relationship of significance, or it can evolve around your home when the moon is in Cancer.

 

This is an emotionally delicate time and those that are more “feeling” individuals can be quite sensitive to what is taking place.  This does not imply that this is a challenging time, although it can be for some again due to “feeling” things rather than those that rely on their intellect in life. 

 

If this Full Moon influences your chart, your senses are heightened, and you can become attached or influenced deeply with what is unfolding.  Perhaps decision making is now part of the focus, and this may involve a family member. This would be particularly so if perhaps Mercury is part of the picture, or the third house is involved.  Much will depend on the houses involved in your chart as this will be the area of life being influenced.

 

The energies from other transiting planets may reinforce this energy in positive ways, but once again, you must look at your personal chart to get a clear picture.  This positive influence is in force because Jupiter is making a sextile to the Cancer Full Moon’s placement.  Sextiles represent opportunities and although something may fall into your lap, you will still need to take action, or this opportunity could slip through your fingers.

 

The Moon and Saturn during their transiting time are also making a Trine offering stability in what you are attempting to move towards or what you have put in place.  If, for example, things do not look overly favorable or the outcome does not look promising, perhaps you will have to pick up the pieces and start over again as a new path presents itself to you.  Saturn can indicate hard work and some obstacles to overcome but the trine aspect offers stability and structure over time if you put in the work required.  Saturn always pays dividends when we do what needs to be done.

 

Look at your chart to find what potential lies ahead and remember no matter how things might look, opportunities are always in place to provide valuable experiences that will assist you in your life over time.
